Footballer kicking cat

Although I haven’t viewed the video as I don’t wish to see a cat being kicked across the room, I’m amazed that this multi millionaire footballer is still playing for his London club.

Compare this to the punishment meted out to the teacher that kick

50,000 signatures on a petition asking police and rspca to investigate. The police appear to have moved from their earlier position of ‘nothing to investigate’.

This incident involved him slapping the cat out of his child’s arms and kicking it the length of the kitchen. His brother filmed it so it could be put onto the internet. The news reports say adults could be heard laughing. He now claims it’s an isolated incident. I don’t believe that. Not wanting to go off on one but - the links between those who abuse animals, also children and domestic abuse are well known.
Disgusting individual

This… public opinion will go a long way to sort this out…

MissAdventure Wed 09-Feb-22 09:37:18

These types of incidents really do need to be dealt with.
We can't allow them to just be explained away and forgotten.
It's just foul and despicable.

The mindset of somebody who can treat a cat so cruelly worries me. What else is he capable of? I fear for his family as well as his poor cats.

TillyTrotter Wed 09-Feb-22 09:48:29

Are some humans born cruel? This worrying item just sickens me. Should be banned from keeping pets for life.

Oldwoman70 Wed 09-Feb-22 09:49:05

Even if he is prosecuted he will probably just receive a fine which won't even be noticable given his weekly wage. I'm glad football fans are showing their disapproval by booing him. The fact that he was filmed and there was laughter is, to me, proof this is not a one off incident. I dread to think what those poor animals are going through on a regular basis.

Iam64 Wed 09-Feb-22 09:50:10

That’s a good point Shinamae, the loss of lucrative advertising contracts. Let’s hope his club take action. The very least suspend him unpaid for a month and send him on some kind of talking therapy. I know, ridiculous to even think anyone needs telling animal abuse is bad.
Also he and his family need intervention to know children exposed to this may behave like he does

MissAdventure Wed 09-Feb-22 09:51:00

He has done what seems to be normal these days.
Issued a statement apologising and saying it was a one off incident blah blah blah....

I am on the phone to the RSPCA and my position in the queue is 10th but I am going to wait and see what they have to say…

“Due to current demands for this service you may have a considerable delay” I am now 16 in the queue, oh it’s just dropped to 5

I got hold of a very nice girl she wanted to know my concerns, and she said my name would be added to a growing list, she took my name and my telephone number but could not tell me how far the investigation has gone and I just said it’s appalling that you didn’t go straight away and take those cats but it’s not her fault she’s a call handler..

lavendermine Wed 09-Feb-22 10:10:04

I have replied on the other thread. This is the most despicable act, filmed by his brother who is also a footballer, and did it "for a laugh" not sure who he plays for but I will find out.
Yes, he played last night, and David Moyes was defending his reason for putting him on the pitch last night on tv this morning.
I sent an email to the RSPCA yesterday and to West Ham. I have received replies to acknowledge receipt.
I am like you all, absolutely horrified at this, the video is just dreadful, the poor little cat. All our animals are so loval, it is just heartbreaking.
This individual should be prosecuted, the animals removed, and be banned for life for having any more, and sacked from his job. But I doubt, after listening to Moyes, this morning this will happen, Moyes has gone way down in my estimations.

Thanks sparkle fizz all signed and that petition is going great guns ??????

Gwyneth Wed 09-Feb-22 10:16:45

I’ve signed the petition and also e mailed the RSPCA . Thanks for keeping us updated re your phone call Shinamae. This needs to be kept in the media until action is taken, At the very least the RSPCA should remove both cats. I can’t believe this was an isolated incident especially with all the laughing going on. They obviously viewed it as entertainment. It’s just sickening.

Exactly what I think, I really think the police should take their phones because I’m sure there are more atrocities but they have probably wiped them clean now because too little is being done too late…?

Sparklefizz Wed 09-Feb-22 10:21:58

Thanks for the update Shinamae. I've emailed the petition link to a number of friends. Can't get through to the RSPCA themselves. I hope the petition will reach the required number today.

Gwyneth Wed 09-Feb-22 10:25:47

Me too Sparklefizz and thanks for the link to the petition. Yes definitely agree Shinamae unlikely to be a one off.

Such cruelty should be punished. I wonder how many times he has done this. Poor cat. The sad thing is that the children will learn this behaviour…..

Shinamae Wed 09-Feb-22 11:35:14

I really don’t think he’s going to get away lightly with this..
