Discussion on TV surrounding Prince Charles and his covid diagnosis and whether as he saw his mother couple of days ago, should the Palace keep the public informed?

Sparklefizz Fri 11-Feb-22 13:03:28

Yes, the same as we've been informed about Prince Charles.

lemsip Fri 11-Feb-22 13:04:48

Yes! she's our Monarch.

Jaberwok Fri 11-Feb-22 13:07:54

Of course we should, we don't need to have intimate details, but she is our head of state and most people are fond of and interested in her welfare particularly at her great age.

Bea65 Fri 11-Feb-22 13:11:38

Yes she is our Head of State and as we're still in a pandemic, would like to know ..but strong views were that we don't need to know about her covid status..

As long as the Queen is not seriously ill or on her death bed surely her health is a private matter?

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 11-Feb-22 13:27:37

If we were told she had a serious illness the stock market may react badly.

HettyBetty Fri 11-Feb-22 13:32:49

No, absolutely not. What has happened to confidentiality?

Nandalot Fri 11-Feb-22 13:33:29

Why would the stock market be badly affected? Given her age it is inevitable that the Queen will not live many more years. There is no problem with the succession. Charles is poised to take over. It will all go smoothly.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 11-Feb-22 13:37:11

Wait and see. The markets get the jitters over the slightest thing.

LauraNorderr Fri 11-Feb-22 13:42:31

If the queen became seriously ill it is in the public interest to know, especially given her great age. A mild cold or the like not so much.

Doodledog Fri 11-Feb-22 13:42:33

HettyBetty

No, absolutely not. What has happened to confidentiality?

This.

The Queen has as much right to privacy as we do. It's not about being concerned for her welfare - it's about protecting doctor/patient confidentiality.

MissAdventure Fri 11-Feb-22 13:46:14

No, her health is her own concern.
What difference can any of the public make?

HettyBetty Fri 11-Feb-22 13:56:21

I think some people are confusing concern for welfare with nosiness.

Unless I can do something positive to help, such as help a neighbour, other people's health is none of my business.

HettyBetty Fri 11-Feb-22 13:58:54

Even when she dies it won't affect the vast majority of the population. Let's hope there's not some long drawn out mawkish coverage on the media.

AGAA4 Fri 11-Feb-22 14:05:51

The Queen has always kept her own private business to herself, unlike some of her family, and we should respect that. If she wants us to know we will be told.

If there is, you’re not obliged to watch it, HettyBetty.

I'm guessing when you get old, I mean over 80 (?), there are often ups and downs in anyone's health. No point reporting every little illness, but yes if she were terminally ill or about to die.

Kali2 Fri 11-Feb-22 15:35:12

HettyBetty

No, absolutely not. What has happened to confidentiality?

Agreed.

Hetty58 Fri 11-Feb-22 15:36:14

I hope she has a say in how much is revealed about her state of health. As others have said, unless it's very serious, it's none of our business.

Mollygo Fri 11-Feb-22 16:01:22

No. Apart from the need for her privacy, any such announcements are usually followed not only by sympathy and good wishes but by other less kind comments.

BlueBelle Fri 11-Feb-22 16:02:28

Agree with those saying mind our own business we ll be told if anything serious happens otherwise it’s her business

Elizabeth27 Fri 11-Feb-22 16:39:05

No, there is nothing we can do about it.

avitorl Fri 11-Feb-22 16:44:25

I would say definitely not unless any public appearances need to be cancelled for health reasons.

Dickens Fri 11-Feb-22 16:51:44

I'm in no way a Monarchist, so maybe I don't know enough about the protocols to comment.

However, shouldn't she be afforded the same right as everyone else to confidentiality about her health? It's between her and her physicians.
