Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and wet here in brackley this morning.
Today , an easy day with making lunch ,and also watching cycling on TV in the afternoon , which breaks up the Winter Olympics .
Saw some Daffodil buds coming through yesterday in the town as well .
Take Care,
Mick

BlueBalou Sun 13-Feb-22 06:10:49

Good morning Michael, it’s very wet here too.
Enjoyed a lovely couple of hours trying glass fusion yesterday, I definitely want to do it again.
Absolutely nothing planned today other than a probably very squelchy dog walk or two and cooking a roast dinner.
Hope everyone has a peaceful day x

grandMattie Sun 13-Feb-22 06:21:31

Good morning from a pitch dark E Kent. No rain yet, but strong winds forecast for later.
Poor DH was prescribed tramadol for gut pai, which has been going on for several months. The first pills were magic in analgesic effect. The next made him dreadfully sick; he was sick all day yesterday. So he’s between a rock and a hard place now.
I finished brook’s bag which I’ll post tomorrow.
DGS came over yesterday. A child transformed. He 17 with all the attendant problems of late teenage. Add to the mix, his dad’s death and he hasn’t been in a good place for a long time. He’s on mild tranx now and seems so much happier with life, it’s wonderful to see.
Early church this morning, then off to Argos to get him a new laptop - a bit of bribery to get him to finish his 2year course.
Hope today is better for us, and for all the anxious, sad, in pain, etc. Carpe diem. ??????

Beechnut Sun 13-Feb-22 06:35:49

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Dark and wet here too with more rain forecast.

DH was prescribed tramadol for something Mattie and our son-in-law asked out daughter ‘ What was up with your dad today’, because he was acting all weird. Glad to hear your GS is happier at the moment.

I’ve just put the slow cooker on for the meal later when Beechnutella and her fella come to see me. I do need some help with a computer problem but don’t feel in the mood for that today.

Have a good day all and enjoy your roasts ??

Toby1932 Sun 13-Feb-22 06:53:13

Good morning all. First time posting here and I hope everyone is in fine fettle today.
Still dark here in central Scotland but a faint hint of light on the eastern horizon. But for now it is dry.
Just heading out to Culross to walk the fur babies then back to hopefully paper our hall.
It’s been looking like a dogs breakfast for a year now ? so I really need to try and get it done.
Started it last January, painted all the woodwork and stripped paper off the walls then had a crappy time from my daughter which has knocked the stuffing out of me but this year I’m hoping to get back on track and stop wallowing on what I cannot change.
Onwards and upwards I say ????
Have a FANTASTIC day everyone and much love to you all

Urmstongran Sun 13-Feb-22 06:55:53

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s still dark but it’s dry. I’d not have been surprised to see snow this morning as it was so cold here yesterday but nada. A quiet day for us mostly. No Sunday lunch with my stepfather as we all got together for a meal last night. I’ve offered to go over and mind the smalls mid morning so their mum & dad can take the opportunity of a leisurely brunch together, perhaps under us at the Loungers Bar.

Tramadol is industrial strength analgesia grandMattie. Perhaps something less powerful would take the edge off your husband’s pain without the awful side effects? I’d ring 111 this morning to ask for advice. Poor man he’s having a tough time. Better news though concerning your grandson which is heartening for you both.

Enjoy Sunday all who can. x

Urmstongran Sun 13-Feb-22 06:58:26

? to you Toby1932 nice to have you join us!

grandMattie Sun 13-Feb-22 06:59:51

Thanks Urms, but a mule has everything to learn from DH. it has taken him up to now to ask for help…. I have given up suggesting things to him. He’s on his own!

Ashcombe Sun 13-Feb-22 07:06:01

Good morning all from a windy but dry (so far!) Torbay.

I had similar problems with Tramadol, grandMattie, when in hospital post hip replacement surgery. The staff insisted I should continue taking it along with an anti-sickness drug! I must confess to accepting them both but hiding the Tramadol in my hearing aid box to dispose of when I went home later that day. I hope your DH is better today and I’m sure your GS finds your support at every level to be a great comfort.

Signs of Spring in some gardens as I walked to the Downs yesterday, with blossom beginning to appear on flowering cherry trees. I couldn’t resist sampling a hot Cornish pasty in our favourite watering hole, The Buccaneer, along with hot chocolate. Today is the last day for mein hosts. ☹️

Welcome to Toby1932!

An early start to play for church but then lunch at my friend's house which will be a treat. I hope everyone enjoys a peaceful Sunday. ?????✝️

Gagagran Sun 13-Feb-22 07:21:57

Good Morning everyone from a 6.8c and dry (so far) south coast. We are promised strong winds and heavy rain later.

Sorry to hear of your DH's travails Mattie . I too am married to a stubborn old goat/donkey/mule, all of which names apply at various times. Is it a man thing? I think they get scared at anything medical and retreat into being an ostrich. Quite a zoo we live with!

Laundry on the agenda here as there is a large pile of cycling kit needing attention plus all the usual. My Mum used to say "The better the day the better the deed" but I still feel guilty washing on a Sunday! I would leave it until tomorrow but I have booked an oven clean tomorrow so thought it best to get it done today.

Have the best day you can everyone and welcome *Toby1932" sunshine

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 13-Feb-22 07:29:21

Good morning all from wet Harrogate- it promises to be miserable all day.
Our new printer finally arrived yesterday, but DH didn’t want to get it out of the box. He waited until I was cooking, baking and dealing with washing- then he wanted me to help him!! He wanted to set it up, but it seemed I had to do it remotely on his PC!! I used to do everything on PC, but I’ve had Apple for the past 5 years. I decided to have another go this pm, might call on Curry’s Know-How if I’m stuck.
Sorry your DH has such problems GrandMattie - remember Women are from Venus and Men are from Mars. Glad your DGS is a bit happier, a difficult time for a teenager, without losing his dad.
Welcome Toby1932 good to hear from you
Have the best day you can folks

brook2704 Sun 13-Feb-22 07:36:57

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and cloudy. I’m hoping at long last to get out into the garden later to see what’s growing and doing some general winter tidying up.
A warm welcome to Toby and good that you’ve joined on here
Sorry to hear about your DH struggling GM hoping things improve soon. Thank you so very much for finding time to finish my bag, you’re always busy doing something, I really admire you. I’m really looking forward to using it soon
Thinking especially of soop today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Good morning everyone it’s very dark still and I can hear the geese flying over from the east coast of Fife. Thankfully I managed a short hospital visit yesterday to see my dh who is starting to feel better unfortunately it seems the hospital staff have no knowledge of his chemo journey and they’ve been asked to get the doctor to phone our dd to discuss the missing communication. I met a new carer last night she seems lovely I hope she can cook. winkbut then she’s only 19 I got cookery lessons when I was at school and they are imprinted in my memory so I’ve learned how to make a very good roux for Mac cheese smile

Enjoy your Sunday my friends have a restful day flowers

multicolourswapshop Sun 13-Feb-22 07:42:50

Oh and a very warm welcome to . Toby hope you enjoy your venture into this forum it can be very supportive at times.

Gingster Sun 13-Feb-22 07:43:34

Good morning all and it’s dry and calm here in Essex at the moment.

I’m another with a stubborn mule for a husband. Like you GM , I’ve given up with him. He’s an adult and has to make his own decisions. It only causes unpleasantness when I try to ‘advise’. ?.

We have all the family here for buffet lunch today. 14 of us , so no room for a formal sit down, civilised dinner. It will be a free-for-all .? The first time we’ll all be together for a while as Civid caused Christmas absentees. The only one missing is DGD away at Uni. We’ll FaceTime her. ❤️.

Toby - welcome and I hope your decorating goes to plan ?.

Wishing you all a lovely day. Keep dry and cosy!

Ali23 Sun 13-Feb-22 07:47:38

Good morning all from Leicester, and welcome Toby.
Will be walking the dog in our local park this morning. We love it there, and it is a little oasis of city nature. The first coot is building its nest in the river, which is lovely to see, although I suspect he’s a bit ahead of himself.

Then I’ll be helping DH with some painting, getting ready to sell my late mum’s flat.

Happy Sunday, everyone.

Pittcity Sun 13-Feb-22 07:48:58

Good morning from grey, cold but dry Colchester. The rain is due later and the wind chill will make ten feel like zero.
I am on the couch with a six year old who is describing every move on his computer game to me. I am nodding obligingly but don't understand a word.
The older boys, DH and DGS1 are still in bed.
The children are off before lunch as it's sonIL's gran's birthday.
I will then set to tidying up and washing bedding etc as I'm not planning on going out.
Roast beef for two tonight.
Love to all ?x

baubles Sun 13-Feb-22 07:52:27

Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire. I think rain is forecast yet again.

Sorry to hear of the unwell husbands of gMattie and multicolouredss.

Welcome to Gransnet Toby.

My DGS had a birthday a few days ago so we’re going to visit this afternoon as is my DS and his family. It’s been a long time since we were all together due to our Christmas plans being scuppered by covid.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 13-Feb-22 07:55:15

Morning Mick and all

Yep Gingster the weather is looking pretty grim in our part of the world today.

I should do some laundry and general pottering, then I want to watch the rugby (especially after my encounter with the English team this week)

Roast pork for dinner this evening.

grandMattie I do believe some men become stubborn with age, and have an aversion to any help or suggestions offered.

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️

Grandmajean Sun 13-Feb-22 07:58:53

Good morning from Cheshire where it's very wet. Friends coming round this afternoon for a meal that should have taken place on New Year's Day. Most of the prep done so not stressed.
Welcome to Toby and thinking of"Soop* on this day of her operation

Marydoll Sun 13-Feb-22 08:06:17

Good morning all, haven't a clue about the weather here in Glasgow.
Welcome, Toby, Culross is a beautiful place for a walk!

So many worries about husband's and families.
Multi, I hadn't realised your husband was still in hospital, that has been a very long and arduous journey.
GM, I can empathise with your DH, I couldn't tolerate Tramadol at all and went through a plethora of very strong painkillers, before finding something which took the edge off my pain and didn't have major side effects..
Urms suggestion about phoning 111 is a wise one.

I'm off to get my fourth vaccination this morning. After the debacle regarding my vaccination status, I am bringing an assortment of letters, to prove I am definitely entitled to it.
My hacking cough is back, so I shall do an LFT, just in case staff thing I am infectious!

Have a good Sunday, everyone!

Georgesgran Sun 13-Feb-22 08:10:24

Good morning from Durham. As yet it’s dry, still and not too cold. A day of absolutely nothingness for me today and I’m looking forward to it. A friend rang yesterday to say she’s had a slight stroke, which shocked me. I seem to have had a busy, quite stressful week and need a day to myself to recharge my battery.
Hope everyone makes the best of the day on offer.
Thinking of Soop today.

Grandmabatty Sun 13-Feb-22 08:23:44

Good morning all from Polmont where it's 7°. Lots of grey skies above though so I expect it'll be wet soon.
Welcome Toby. You're just down the road from me in Culross. I love the houses there. Marydoll good luck with your fourth vaccination. Like many of you,I'm thinking of Soop especially today.
Yesterday was housework day and I didn't do much as I wasn't feeling great for various reasons. Today I will put a steak casserole in the slow cooker. I have some admin to take care of. I used to be terrible at keeping up to date with things but I have got much better now I'm retired. I wanted to do some work in the garden but it doesn't look like today will be the day for working outside. There might be a visit from dd and the boys later to look forward to. I hope you have a good Sunday.

Lins1066 Sun 13-Feb-22 08:24:22

Good morning all from our corner of a very wet S Welsh coast. We had a dry day yesterday despite the predicted rain and took the dog for a walk along a near deserted beach.
Our little granddaughter had her first outing in the buggy, her parents took her for a walk and they stopped for a coffee. Apparently she was awake but quiet throughout.
I did some chores yesterday so a quiet day is on the cards here.
Welcome to the thread Toby.
Roast loin of pork for Sunday 'dinner', we eat about six.
Hope that Sunday is kind to us all.

ShazzaKanazza Sun 13-Feb-22 08:27:07

Good morning Mick and everyone from a dull and very damp Hull. It’s breezy.
Hello Toby1932 pleased your are on here I said hello to you the other day when you joined GN.
GMattie and Multicoloured you have such a lot going on I’m thinking of you. Gagagran you did make me laugh with your DH names.
Today we have friends over to see us. DH is making a white choc gluten free cheesecake and I’m making a gf banana cake it’s a John Barrowman recipe from his life and it’s yum especially warm with butter. Enjoy your lovely roast dinners and reunions with family members. Happy Sunday ??
