I browze fridges. And you? (lighthearted thread)

I know it's weird but whenever I enter a large store of electrical appliances I just have to go to the fridge section. I inspect and criticize very one. Never cookers or washing machines or dryers. Only fridges.

It's not as if I can change mine every year and as I have a very small, fitted kitchen with inserted fridge, cannot even indulge in one of those big, double door ones with water/ice distributors etc.

I also enjoy stationer's and hardware shops bat those are more banal.

Does anyone else share my "passion" or have one equally strange?

I have been known to spend hours in stationary shops. I also like looking at all the cleaning products in shops.

I love to look at bedding and towels too

For those who love book shops, if ever you are in Alnwick in Northumberland, a visit to Barter Books is a must. What a place. A book shop and tea shop in one. Fabulous place

kitchen storage containers! I am really into kilner stuff at moment! but love seeing the ranges although I have far to much stuff, and far more containers than I will ever use, but you never know when you might need that 50th glass jar!

Bike shops and outdoor suppliers - I call into my local one for a browse around at least once a month. Just love all those gadgets and gizmos.
It has a wood yard next door. The smell of newly cut wood is intoxicating.

Those lovely little home ware boutiques that sell all manner of unnecessary frippery under the shabby chic banner. I rarely buy anything, already done my own up cycling projects, but just have to go and look, sometimes to steal ideas!

I like fridges! There are now two very tall fridge freezers in my garage, along with a small 4 drawer upright freezer, a large chest freezer and a very small drinks fridge. Unfortunately there is only space for one fridge freezer in my kitchen. I use all of them, except the drinks one, which comes in handy in the summer months. I’ve stopped looking at fridges now, and all I can say is it’s a good job I don’t like washing machines. I like hardware shops too and charity shops.

Handmade chocolates and soaps for me. Fortunately we have little local independent shops selling both for me to lurk around, though I find I attract less attention sniffing all the soaps in TK Maxx. I need to get even more up close and personal with them since Covid took half my sense of smell away.

I’m always looking at fridges because I can hardly get anything in my fridge and I don’t have the space for a large fridge freezer. It seems to have the same capacity as other fridges I look at but once I’ve put milk condiments etc in it there’s hardly any room for anything else. The salad drawer doesn’t seem to hold much either. Other peoples fridges seem tardis like. Pre pandemic when I used to go shopping I used to measure the inside of fridges with a tape measure. It’s one of life’s little mysteries….

I'm obsessed with storage, so baskets, boxes and containers are my go to. IKEA do loads, I have a great time there, plus while I'm there I have to lift packets of their tealights.

Oddly until you mentioned it, I had not really been conscious of my fascination with fridges but let me loose in a white goods department and the fridge/freezer section wins every time. I do have a large German stainless steel 4door fridge freezer and it has been lovely but it is about 20 years old now and was incredibly expensive when we bought it. You can buy the same sort of thing now 20 years later for less than we paid for ours. I hope it will last a few more years yet but I will definitely go for something similar next time.

I love huge fridges and fridge freezers too, especially the very expensive ones - Fischer and Paykiel, anyone?
But i am due to refit the kitchen soon.....

Guilia - have you found our PM in any of them?

My friend laughs at me because I always come home from a shopping trip with cushions ?

Bookshops! The lovely smell, the volumes of adventure, knowledge, history and the searching through shelves to find that one book you never knew you wanted.

Fridges, freezers and now record players! I stood gawping at them at a recently reopened HMV xx

I love the 'old fashioned' hardware shops that sell everything.

Grandmagrewit Mon 14-Feb-22 12:20:53

For me, it always used to be fabric shops or the fabric department in large stores but sadly there are hardly any left any more. So very few people make their own curtains, soft furnishing or clothes nowadays. Mind you I also find it very difficult to resist a garden centre - I'm worse than a child in a sweetie shop!

Craft shops get my vote anytime. Sadly fewer of them.

I’m always looking at cleaning products but not too keen on housework!

I am like a' moth to a flame' the moment I walk into B&Q.

My son loves the local Turkish barber - he said his jacket is whisked off as he enters, he is practically carried to the chair, the whole experience from hot flannels, head massage, razor shave and a perfect hair cut is a treat when he gets the opportunity; he works long hours and very hard indeed. Sorry - nothing about fridges here, but thought I would put in a good word for the very nice Turkish barber shop!

Frying pans and socks

Patsy429 Mon 14-Feb-22 12:03:05

Notebooks! Just love the touch, the feel, the smell - some are very expensive and I always ask for one as a birthday present. TKMax often has a great selection which I can afford. I buy them as presents but usually end up keeping them myself!

I don't wear make-up but I love looking at it in shop-windows.
