Good morning everyone. Best wishes soop and Aldom. Look after yourselves.
Stunning day here. Have made soup (the inevitable but rather good lentil) and dough rising. Ddog watching from sofa. Listened to the world service during the night.
Not much planned bar several walks to make up for yesterday's
day in. Going to attack various window frames with a tooth brush and cleaner. Feel quite invigorated.
Yesterday I wrote a condolence letter to a friend whose dear husband has died. I appreciate no words can help but hope I did her husband justice.
My best best wishes to all on this thread.

Perfect in their simplicity, thank you, ixion

The nurse has just left. The stoma has an angry, raw, sore edge and that's due to acid seepage. It will gradually correct itself as my diet slowly returns to a more normal and balanced regime. I did silently scream as she peeled away the stoma bag. Thereafter, all was well.

The news of Russia's invasion is beyond sad. I cannot believe that Putin can possibly look at himself in the mirror. Like many tyrants before him, he will be extinguished. In the meantime, the innocent will suffer untold misery. Surely it's not too much to ask that common sense and compassion may yet prevail.

Away to tidy a few bits and bobs away, and then enjoy a lemon and ginger brew.

A warm, welcome, group (((hug))) XXX smile moon

Good afternoon kitcheners. Dd and the boys are not long away home. I have fed 'em and watered 'em and played with dgs1 and cuddled dgs2. He smiled at me for the first time today and tried to tell me baby stories so I'm a happy grandma. I hope your stoma settles down soon Soop. It sounds painful.

Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners. The weather is calmer here and a little colder. We’ve had sunshine all day, a few clouds drifting in now. I have been to the salon for a trim and tidy, feeling quite glam as I scrubbed the shower and de-gooped the drain this afternoon grin

I love lentil soup Dogs which is why I’m finding the diet easy to stick to! I’ve made Scotch broth for tonight.

Sounds like things are going well Soop, hope the stoma settles soon. Did she give you anything to put on it, or is it just a question of time? I remember after my colectomy I was encouraged to eat various ‘unhealthy’ foods, such as soft white bread, that I wouldn’t normally touch with a barge pole. You will gradually get back to a more normal diet.

What a wonderful way to spend a day Grandmabatty, little ones are so precious.

Hello to all friends in the kitchen this evening, it’s been a much better day weather wise here in Inverness and we even saw some sunshine for a little while
Lovely hyacinths ixion and good that they behaved properly and did as asked!
Your day with the DGSs sounds lovely grandmabatty precious memories made
We collected DGD from school and she’s staying here tonight for a sleepover, she’s just having a bedtime story with grandad whilst I’m getting a few minutes peace.. Her brother poor lamb is feeling fine but his daily LFTs are still showing +ve and it’s almost a week now that he’s not been out.
I’m sure your kind letter to your friend helped dogs a sad time for her
Sorry to hear things are quite sore soop and hoping it improves soon ?

Good evening dear kitcheners - a quick hello from me as we have returned from a brilliant few days away. Duncan was very pleased to see us although I think he's been rather spoiled by our lovely neighbour visiting him several times a day ?. We are on grandparent duty tomorrow so that mummy and daddy can have a few adult hours. Cinema followed by a nice meal. I think now it must be wine o'clock ?!! TOYA

‘Evening All’

We are just home after babysitting early doors. Two freshly bathed grandchildren, snuggled next to us on the sofa for ‘film night’ where it was L’il Miss’ turn to choose, so we all watched Toy Story 3 and enjoyed shared pizzas. Himself was the taxi service bringing their parents home while I tucked the smalls in their beds. Extra cuddles as I shall miss them for 3 weeks.

Hello everyone! It’s been a busy few days but I have been keeping up. soop I do hope you are more comfortable soon.
Blossoming you have my sympathy! I cannot bear cleaning plug holes and drains - the one area of housework at which I draw the line!
It’s a rugby weekend so we won’t be going far and I have a costume to make for DGS for world book day. A satyr if you please! ( half man/half goat!). Thankfully DGD has gone for the easy option of going in pyjamas!
Sleep tight everyone ?

maddyone Sat 26-Feb-22 00:26:32

Goodnight everyone.

Urmstongran Sat 26-Feb-22 16:29:35

Goodness the kitchen is quiet.

BladeAnnie Sat 26-Feb-22 17:31:10

It is isn't it Urmstongran!! I was just popping in to say a quick "hello"; but it's more like "where is everyone??"

Hi everyone I’ve been out pottering in the garden this afternoon making the most of the dry sunny weather, but it’s been so windy everything’s blowing around and my kneeling mat was almost over the fence into next doors garden. So I’m in now and just about to get pasta and beef ragú ready to eat later. Wine is open as it’s Saturday..
DGD was dropped off at dancing this morning and her dad was picking her up so it’s been very quiet since then
Safe travels tomorrow Urms and enjoy your time in Malaga ?

Baggs Sat 26-Feb-22 17:52:25

It has been very windy here today so I haven't done much (anything!) in the garden but two pics of Woolly Fringe-moss (Racomitrium lanuginosum) which grows on our drystone wall, and which I took on this date last year, popped up in my FB memories. I've posted them below.

MrB went out to check out a couple of new bird hides near Holy Loch and when he came back made me a Boxcar cocktail ?. Very nice and now on the favourites list.

Nannyfaraway Sat 26-Feb-22 18:01:19

Hello everyone I've had a very busy day at work. Just got home. So relaxing now

kittylester Sat 26-Feb-22 18:17:41

Love the Woolly Fringemoss, baggs. I have never seen that before. I've just looked up a Boxcar - not up my street - but I'd love a nice glass of chilled rose. Waiting for dh to get home though. Hope you are all impressed.

Bit of a discombobulated day today. I had hoped to hear from my friend who is still in hospital 'being investigated' but no word from her or her husband.

I have however heard from DD3 who took Bertie to A&E with a suspected broken arm from playing football in the garden. He has been xrayed and they have been sent to wait in the car - probably for 4 hours!

It's been a funny day!

Grandmabatty Sat 26-Feb-22 18:18:58

Evening all. Thinking of you Urms. I have been very house worky today. Bedding washed and changed, hoovered, polished, cleaned the kitchen and the inside of the fridge. I've also cleaned all the windows and glass. I am having chilli and potato wedges with homemade chilli dip for tea. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Grandmabatty Sat 26-Feb-22 18:20:07

Goodness Kitty, I hope Bertie is ok. That's an awful long time to wait.

kittylester Sat 26-Feb-22 19:13:18

It's more DD3'S sanity that I'm bothered about! grin

Baggs Sat 26-Feb-22 19:17:44

I hope Bertie's OK too. It's nuts that his mum can't stay with him.

How old is he now? It doesn't seem like any time since he was born!

soop Sat 26-Feb-22 19:33:55

kitty Sending healing vibes to Bertie

Fab photos Baggs. What is a Boxcar cocktail? I'm intrigued. [

Sorry to be have gone awol today. Best friends in the village called by. A most amusing catch-up. grin

Will return tomorrow for a serious catch-up. Love to you ALL. smile moon

Blossoming Sat 26-Feb-22 19:41:51

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I’m afraid I’m not good company today, too much on my mind. I hope Bertie is OK Kitty.

Goodnight all, sleep tight ?

Grandmabatty Sat 26-Feb-22 19:46:26

Boxcar cocktail is made of gin, Cointreau, lime juice and grenadine. And it often has a luscious cherry ar the bottom of it. Delish!

Sounds absolutely delicious! ?If I was allowed alcohol, I would certainly make one!
I'm going to let my gin aficionado DD know, she will love it! ?

kittylester Sat 26-Feb-22 20:24:00

I think I have confused the issue. Bertie and his mum have been sent to wait in the car and are still there!

Baggs, Bertie is 10 (and one of my favourite grandsons!)
