Jaxjacky Sun 06-Mar-22 19:20:46

Happy news soop every day, another little step forwards.
I’m hoping Nannytopsy has better news this evening.
I’ll join brook in her thoughts for dusty and maddy, may you both be improving.
My daughter tested -ve this morning, another one tomorrow, she’ll be straight back to working in school tomorrow.
We’ve had a biting wind today, so been rather lazy, gammon in slow cooker, veg on and Peaky Blinders later.
I hope you have a really marvellous, well deserved holiday Yia at least one picture is obligatory!
Have a pleasant evening all x

cornergran Sun 06-Mar-22 19:50:42

You sound so much better soop. Sending wishes that the upward curve has begun. Mr Soop is a marvel, a big gold star to him.

That is better news nannytopsy, relief all round.

A hug for dogsmakemesmile, reaction isn’t surprising. Rest when you can.

Hope there’s energy to celebrate this year dustyangel. Do know what you mean though.

Get better soon maddyone, that’s painful.

Time for feet up and a glass of cold white wine. Not sure if I’ll stay awake. I’m jolly tired, the sleepy sort of tired.

TOYA.

Thinking of you Nannytopsy and hoping your wee GGS is soon home and in good health.
You sound so much better Soop and I hope every day brings progress.

muse Sun 06-Mar-22 20:21:12

Lots of corners turned in the kitchen today? .
Good news about the -ive test Jax. Hope the return to work doesn't exhaust your DD too much.
Lovely to hear that your GGS has a diagnosis of something that can be managed Nannytopsy. Big hug to all the family.
Those past few months must have been so stressful Dogsmakemesmile. So kind of you to thank everyone concerned and I hope you enjoy that rest and a few chocolates too.

I do hope that kidney infection disappears soon Maddyone. I too agree with soop words that it is a buggeration. I had many years of the same. Thinking of you too dusty. Those constant trips are so exhausting.

Yia. Once you have arrived, please relax and enjoy that well deserved holiday. Thank you all those donations of sleeping bags and warm clothing.

?And soop? The nurse's visit was very positive and MrSoop is such a true treasure.

It's about time we had some cake in the kitchen. I'll see what I can muster for tomorrow. Take care kind kitcheners.

gillgran Sun 06-Mar-22 20:27:03

Good to hear from you soop, I hope your recovery continues in the right direction,
MrSoop is doing a wonderful job, & will have earned lots of spoiling.

Pleased that you sound a bit more positive about your baby GGS, Nannytopsy,

Warm & healing thoughts for all in need.

Hellogirl1 Sun 06-Mar-22 20:46:08

So lovely to hear from you Soop, glad you`re feeling so much better. And your lovely man is a TREASURE!
Nannytopsy, good to hear better news of your GGS, hopefully things will continue on the up.
Best wishes to everyone who is feeling poorly or down, TOYA xx

That is good news nannytopsy. Babies are so fragile and precious and of course we don’t want any harm to come to them. Goodnight dear Kitcheners, I hope all our invalids and carers have a restful night and some comfort, get well soon.

I have now been following the ‘porridge and soup’ routine for a month and am pleased to see results. My clothes are looser and I’m not afraid to hop on the scales. I am finding a really easy and am motivated by the improvement to my health that losing weight will bring. It helps my mobility when there’s less to carry around grin

Nannyfaraway Sun 06-Mar-22 23:12:24

Good to hear from you Soop I'm glad you are feeling better and more comfortable
Hopefully you will continue to improve.
Mr Soop is a treasure glad he is looking after you so well. Both of you need to take things easy.
Sorry to hear about your Grandson Nannytopsy but glad he has a diagnosis and will be home soon

Nannyfaraway Mon 07-Mar-22 17:06:28

The Kitchen is quiet today. Where is everyone?

Jaxjacky Mon 07-Mar-22 19:14:53

Everyone must be having a nap Nannyfaraway.
Daughter -ve again today, so back to school (work). I was out in the garden today, tidying, greenhouse the same, but it was cold apart from in the GH.
Well done Blossoming you must be really chuffed!
Hope you’ve had a better day maddy, dusty you too.
Right, I must magically produce dinner, enjoy your evening x

Blossoming Mon 07-Mar-22 20:15:10

Good evening dear Kitcheners, I have been pottering today. I feel a kitchen cupboard declutter coming on grin I made some delicious pea and ham soup to eat this evening and tomorrow, tidied some paperwork but I’m not really sure where the day went! Hope everyone is feeling well and any invalids are improving. TOYA

I went to a funeral today. It was my youngest son`s MIL. My daughter says I was being a hypocrite by going, as I freely admit to not liking her, and I know she didn`t really like me, but she did go to my husband`s funeral, so I felt I needed to return the favour, so to speak. Was I wrong to go? I know my son and DIL were pleased that I was there.

aggie Mon 07-Mar-22 22:35:04

Funerals are to support the bereaved , so you did the right thing ,and if your DIL was pleased to see you that proves it xxx

Blossoming Mon 07-Mar-22 23:15:39

You did the right thing in supporting your DiL hellogirl

Aldom Tue 08-Mar-22 06:09:10

Hello girl you did the right thing by attending the funeral. You supported your daughter in law as she grieved for her mother. Your son will appreciate your thoughtfulness to his wife.
Thinking of all who are unwell, sad or lonely.
So pleased to hear from Soop and to know that she is more comfortable and being cared for so well by Mr. Soop. flowers

TillyTrotter Tue 08-Mar-22 09:19:29

Blossoming I am interested in your porridge and soup eating plan. Do you do it for just a short time? What else do you eat?
I like both those things and may follow your lead. Summer clothes will definitely fit better .
How is everyone in the kitchen today? I hope soop and all who are struggling with their health or worries for families have a dose of sunshine to lift them and the day is kind.

I am putting Shrewsbury biscuits on the side, and Spring blooms.
These daffs gave me a lovely surprise when they opened as they are double flowered.

TillyTrotter Tue 08-Mar-22 09:20:24

oops, here they are.

Blossoming Tue 08-Mar-22 13:25:11

Lovely flowers Tilly. I’m using the Glasgow University No Doubts diet as a basis (link below). I eat porridge and soup Monday to Friday and whatever I like at the weekend. I also walk or exercise cycle at least 30 minutes a day in addition to physio exercises.

Good afternoon, lovely Kitchen people!
Wonderful to hear from you Dear Soop, such good news, you sound in very good spirits.
Great news too about Nannytopsy's GGS, so glad to hear that.

Good to hear that the Covid DDs are recovering, I hope Grandmabatty's wee grandson is better now too.
I hope Maddyone, Dustyangel, Dogsmakemesmile, and anyone else who is under the weather, feel better soon. ?

Well done, Blossoming, you're doing great on your healthy eating and exercise regime.

Thank you for the lovely daffs, Tilly. My patio tubs are starting to flower now, we've had a cold and frosty spell, with snow forecast later in the week.

I'm stressed out with a leak from the vanity unit in the bathroom. I paid a local plumber to repair it a couple of months ago, hoping to avoid an insurance claim, but it is leaking again. So I phoned my insurance and was shocked to find out that my 'escape of water excess' is £500!!! Does that seem excessive ?? Well, that will teach me to read the small print.

Have a good Tuesday, TOYA.

soop Tue 08-Mar-22 14:32:25

Nannytopsy An enormous sigh of relief from we two in Kintyre. A message for wee Elijah, continue to remain strong. You are extremely precious.

dustyangel Healing vibes from me to you. Meds can create unnecessary buggerations. Do hope that you can get help with the unwanted issues. I no longer need to take 20 tabs daily. Weaned off the worst.

I know that you lot may not be impressed but...I've just farted. The nurse was concerned that my bowel had become lazy. She told me that...a hearty fart would prove otherwise. wink

soop Tue 08-Mar-22 14:40:49

Grannmarie Thank you for a lovely, caring message. I echo your words.

A delightful photograph, Tilly. It put a smile on my face.

Hellogirl aggie is right. You did the right thing.

Blossoming I am going to peruse your diet. Not that I am any longer overweight. It may, in the future, be an interesting option.

brook2704 Tue 08-Mar-22 15:03:17

Hello everyone in the kitchen, I’ve been busy for a few days but catching up now. We arrived back home last night after a lovely weekend down in Cambridge visiting DD1 and family. SiL up here kindly picked us up from the airport last night.

This morning it’s been all go as we got a last minute request to do the school run and then I was straight on to my dance class. It’s gorgeous and sunny here but with a cold wind, I feel like I should be out in the garden but I’m just having a lazy afternoon after a busy few days.

Those are beautiful spring flowers for the kitchen Tilly thank you
What a nuisance about the leak grannmarie If you can I’d be tempted to get the plumber back if it was only repaired a short time ago. The £500 excess does sound a lot to me
Good news that your DD is negative Jax and back at work now
You’re doing ever so well Blossoming well done to you
Good to hear things are improving in many ways Soop!

Blossoming Tue 08-Mar-22 16:06:48

Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners, just back from a rather chilly walk. The sunshine is lovely but there’s an icy wind, so Big Coat was needed.

Granmarie I think I’d ask the plumber who fixed it to take a look at why it’s leaking again!

Congratulations soop! Lazy bowel is something I have to avoid following the removal of my entire sigmoid colon. I won’t go into details but it performs a valuable function. Although I don’t have a stoma many of the issues are common to both.

Glasgow University also have a diet giving more flexible food choices if the one I’m following doesn’t suit.

Grannmarie Tue 08-Mar-22 16:16:11

Thanks for the advice, Brook and Blossoming, but I have just spent two days waiting in for the previous plumber to come back. I'm thinking of writing him off as a bad job, but I'm still not keen on the enormous excess!
I'll discuss it with family this evening and see what they suggest.

Grandmabatty Tue 08-Mar-22 16:27:41

Good afternoon kitcheners. Grannmarie dgs2 is back to normal as is dd. She feels fine so that's a relief. Talking about bowels, blossoming and Soop, mine is sometimes lazy which is connected to diabetes apparently. The spring flowers are lovely Tillytrotter. Thank you for posting. Sounds like you have had a good time in Cambridge Brook. Bolognaise anyone? I put on a slow cooker load this morning and it's ready. I've also made cranberry scones and they are nice with butter. I've felt under the weather for the last few days so I'm taking it easy. I am watching This Old House' on YouTube. I find people hammering and building surprisingly soothing. Have a good evening Kitcheners.
