Sorry about the title, me brain`s not at it`s best at this time of day!

Grandmabatty Sun 20-Feb-22 12:29:48

? maddyone. Made me smile though. I've changed my colour scheme in the living room from blue curtains to mustard. It's an easy facing room so it should warm it up later in the day. But oh dear, it reinforced that I am not fit and have a problematic knee. Jumping into a chair to change curtains and down again has made it ache. Lentil soup anyone?

Grandmabatty Sun 20-Feb-22 12:30:30

East not easy. Typo right back at ya maddyone

maddyone Sun 20-Feb-22 12:31:32

What a gorgeous cake for your DGS grandmabatty just perfect for a dinosaur mad 3 year old! Well done to your DD in making it

We’ve got cloud and rain this morning Sue the blue sky didn’t last long, but pleased it’s moved onto you

Hoping you’re feeling much better soon maddyone don’t worry about the typos, we all do that sometimes

Just found out that 8yr old DGS has tested positive for covid, poor lamb. He woke up in the night with a fever and headache and DD2 tested him this morning. So we won’t be looking after him and DGD this coming week as planned and his half term activities have all been cancelled. Never mind hopefully it’s a mild dose but I expect it’ll get passed on throughout the little family now

brook2704 Sun 20-Feb-22 12:49:41

Yummy yes please I’ll have some lentil soup grandmabatty thank you

Grandmabatty Sun 20-Feb-22 13:28:46

Brook poor wee scone. I hope he recovers quickly.

Yiayia4 Sun 20-Feb-22 14:17:48

Wonderful cake Grandmabatty they so love dinosaurs at that age.
Sorry to hear of your DGS Brooke hope he recovers quickly. My own DGS is at last negative after 8days but he had very mild symptoms. We are going for dinner at DS’s later so will be nice to see him and will hear all about the skiing trip from our super skier.⛷
Healing thoughts to Soop and hope your’ll be home very soon
Still very windy here lots of people had fences down and trees blown over, hope it ends soon.

Have a pleasant Sunday everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 20-Feb-22 14:20:54

Cake looks yummy Grandmabatty

Grey skies and windy here, waiting for the forecasted rain.

Changed beds and pottering before starting Sunday dinner (Roast chicken with stuffing, pigs in blankets along with Yorkshire puddings, loads of veggies Cauliflower cheese, runner beans and brussel sprouts. The 7 yr olds choice, apart from the veggies)

Grandmabatty Sun 20-Feb-22 14:33:16

Grannygravy can I come? That meal sounds delicious!

BlueBalou Sun 20-Feb-22 15:10:26

I. Am. Pooped. I had forgotten how endlessly energetic and entertaining a 5 and a 7 year old boys can be ?
We’ve had a lovely few days despite the awful weather, DS set up my new Chromebook for me (he has endless patience!) and we’ve played multiple card games to do with werewolves so a very successful time.
Love to the soops, I hope soop is home soon and getting more comfortable with everything.

dustyangel Sun 20-Feb-22 15:37:09

I haven’t caught up with you all yet, but will do so in a minute. I have even more sympathy for soop than I had before Friday when I spent just one day in hospital (A&E) waiting to see a doctor and then waiting for private Ambulance to get home. The nurse who realised I’d been discharged without any aftercare and I must have been looking a bit lost, actually apologised and said she realised how hard it was but it was just the way they do things here. It’s been so difficult especially over the weekend. DH is lovely and very caring but really is not up to doing much. We’ve just heard that the physio we expected to see on Monday can’t make it and quite apart from DH’s back, I wanted to ask her so many questions. I’ve cracked a bone in my hip which DD1 informs me over the telephone needs the same treatment as a broken hip and is extremely painful.

I kept thinking of soop on Friday and thinking that she’s endured so much with very difficult and I’m sure sometimes embarrassing symptoms, that I can get though this.

Marydoll Sun 20-Feb-22 16:18:16

dustyangel, you have my sympathy, you must be in such a lot of pain.

I'm prone to stress fractures, especially in my feet and the pain is excruciating sometimes.
I don't know easy it is to speak to medical professional in Portugual, but it you could, is there anyone else you can speak to for advice?

I do hope that you manage to get some relief. Paracetamol is just a top up for me on top of other painkillers, it only takes the edge off. You must be pretty miserable. ?.

Take care and I hope the physio gets in touch ASAP.

SueDonim Sun 20-Feb-22 16:26:22

That sounds so painful, Dustyangel. I hope you can find some relief.

It seems like everyone is getting covid now especially all these youngsters. flowers

Here’s a pic of blue skies near here today.

dustyangel Sun 20-Feb-22 17:03:22

Thankyou Marydoll and SueDonim, Marydoll I was chatting to an English lady in the waiting room. As you do smile and funnily enough we were talking about small fractures in the feet and how very painful they are. And of course don’t get immobilised in any way. I hope it heals quickly.

SueDonim I needed to see your blue sky today. I’m in our bedroom which has a skylight and as it’s been sunny today I’m sure the sky is beautiful but our blind has to be mostly shut if it’s in the day time as it’s dazzling otherwise. When lying down anyway.

Oh I am so very grateful for GN today. I feel far less isolated.

BladeAnnie Sun 20-Feb-22 17:09:52

Afternoon dear kitcheners - what a lovely photo SueD. Nothing remotely like that here - more wind and rain battering us I'm afraid ??☔. Ah well such is life ? - not much we can do about the weather and we didn't need to go anywhere today so a cosy day in by the fire ??. Special thoughts to soop as always - and enjoy the rest of Sunday. TOYA ??

Hello lovely Kitcheners. I’m exhausted today, the storm kept me awake most of the night and it’s not letting up today either! I just popped in to see if there’s any further news of soop I I’ve just seen your update dustyangel. You must feel so helpless right now, I hope you can get some help with the pain.

Urmstongran Sun 20-Feb-22 17:21:37

A very early ‘Evening All’.

Goodness that wind has got up fiercely this last hour! Himself has just returned having driven my stepfather home. It’s lovely he joined us again for Sunday dinner. I side the table and wash up while Himself plays chauffeur. Team work!

Ooh dustyangel a cracked hip? That sounds pretty agonising. I hope you have some good pain relief to hand, not just a couple of paracetamol. Rest up and heal. Maybe put a thin cushion under (to the side really) of the affected hip to ease the stress there. You’ll find the best wedge for it. I bet you feel pretty drained right now.

Right. Netflix is calling me. I’m going to binge watch ‘Inventing Anna’ now.
#lazygran

If you might be reading soop I hope you get a good night’s rest in your side room. The healing powers of sleep cannot be over-emphasised during convalescence. x

Yiayia4 Sun 20-Feb-22 17:22:54

Dustangel and maddyone get well soon??

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Feb-22 17:36:25

Oh dusty how depressing, I’m not much help, just hoping it heals quickly and you can ease the pain.
Beautiful picture SueD we have weather like BA, blowing a gale and chucking it down. I went out for a quick walk as I’ve lazed all day and got very wet hair, my hood kept blowing off.
Paprika beef is in the slo cooker, I’ll prep some spuds, cabbage and peas.
Thinking of you soop and Mrsoop who’s probably a bit lonely.
Enjoy your evening all x

brook2704 Sun 20-Feb-22 19:41:26

Lovely photo Sue looks cold though. We’ve had sleety rain most of the day and then big hailstones battering the conservatory roof a little while ago.
I hope your DGSs skiing trip went well Yia and you got to hear all about it
Let’s hope soop is back home early next week and in the kitchen again soon

Blossoming Sun 20-Feb-22 22:04:25

Goodnight dear Kitcheners. Storm Wozizname is still raging and I’m tucked up in bed with a large mug of hot chocolate.

Stay safe everyone, TOYA

Dogsmakemesmile Mon 21-Feb-22 12:33:29

My best wishes to all especially those struggling with pain and illhealth. Fingers crossed for swift responses to these issues.
Blowy and dry here. Have second wash on line. I think we seem to be missing the awful weather elsewhere.
Wlked ddog and ambled to the high street earlier. Had not realised a lot of shops do not open til ten on a Monday. A good way to save money. Determined to up my walking and general fitness. I appreciate I am lucky to be able to say that.
I must say I have found February rather more taxing than January . I was reading a gardening article that Feb is often colder and wetter than January. Perhaps why I have found it a bit gloomy. Need to find my inner Tigger. He's in there somewhere.
Fingers crossed soop is heading home.
Take care everyone. I am afraid I can only offer digestives..Ddog's favourite.

brook2704 Mon 21-Feb-22 14:24:21

I really agree dogsmakeme and I said exactly the same thing to my DH the other day, February here has been far worse than January Let’s hope March brings some warmer weather
Hopefully soop will be heading home soon
I’ve just finished at the gym and am
recovering now with a much needed coffee ☕️ and a biscuit

GrannyGravy13 Mon 21-Feb-22 15:06:13

Popping in to send good wishes to soop ?

Still very windy here in S E Essex, I got blown to the gym earlier ?

Wishing you a speedy and hopefully not painful recovery dustyangel ?

Baggs Mon 21-Feb-22 16:54:42

soop and her awesome man are home! Hurrah!! Apparently the little cat Sweety-pie turned up to eat in their utility room just after they got home. Lovely welcome! soop is going to take things easy but said to tell you that she thinks you're all wonderful and thank you for the support and good vibes.

She will update you with all the details she's willing to share in due course but know that we had a good laugh about flatulence.

MrBaggs just made me a Blue Monday cocktail. Not sure its name is appropriate any more. Cheers to the soops who are going to have a little bit of ginger cake (nausea's a problem) and a wee dram. She has been told booze is fine.

Time to celebrate, grans! Go to it!
