Good morning Mick, Annie and all. Luckily, should I say this with fingers crossed, we have escaped any storm damage here. Although the roads nearby have been littered with lots of big branches etc. I did see my roofer neighbour on top of a house opposite on Saturday though, so hope there is no serious damage.
Scentia, what a shock for you and your DH, I do hope he recovers quickly.
The poor delivery driver Grandmadinosaur, and also the people who are in damaged properties.
Love your boots Ashcombe and wish I could wear something like that, but my ankles are much too 'generous'.
On Saturday, whilst in Aldi, they had some more Chalk Paint, so I bought some and some Wax , and the radiator in the cloakroom has had a makeover. Thought I could make use of the energy spurt. The paint has covered well and today I will give it the first coat of wax. Cheaper than a new radiator, if it works.
GrandMattie, nice to hear that you managed a lie in this morning, and good luck for the Bristol trip.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning all from a very windy W Kent, dark clouds gathering. Fence down in the night. Feeling fed up as I was supposed to go to an exhibition with a friend today but the trains are all messed up so can't do it.
So sorry for all the difficult situations others find themselves in.
Take care everybody, think it might be the day to make cake.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny and breezy Carlisle.. Yesterday was horrible....very wet and windy as Franklin approached, then, in the early hours I was awake for some time as the noise of the violent gusts was horrendous and something was making a noise rattling outside. I checked the Met forecast and no yellow warning! We had one for the last storm when nothing happened. All seems well this morning though.
I'm currently awaiting the arrival of the gas engineer to give the boiler its first annual check. It's the firm that serviced my previous property for years so he's presumably travelling up from West Cumbria. I shall potter on with minor jobs whilst waiting.
Thank you for your comment yesterday Urmston...one thing I don't have in common with Charlie Dimmock--I wear my bra when gardening! I remember her from years ago when I would tell the TV she'd be sorry when she was older.

DHs are poorly today...best wishes for speedy recoveries for yours grandMattie, Scentia and FannyCornforth.

The best possible day to all.

Good morning from the NE where it remains very windy.
It was such a noisy night I had to get up and get earplugs otherwise I would have had no sleep at all.
DD and SIL came late afternoon and we prepared dinner together, the Chateaubriand was delicious.
Love the boots Ashcombe, GDs wear boots like that except they take size 7.
Sorry to hear about poorly DHs, hope for rapid improvement.
DD has booked her travel back home to Belgium and leaves a week tomorrow, she has to return to the office now that restrictions are being lifted in Brussels. She is having this last week as holiday so we can spend some time together.
Take care in this extreme weather.

Lots of concerns this morning with DH anxiety, wedding concerns and the latest storm to contend with. We had a very wild night but a cursory glance suggests the fences are still standing - for now, anyway.

Am going to brave a U3A talk about a local clock and bell maker - haven’t been to one of these meetings for at least two years but need to re-enter normal life. Hope the day brings good news for the worried, rest for the unwell, and a bit less wind for all of us.

Serendipity22 Mon 21-Feb-22 09:13:56

Morning everyone... whoaaa its still windy, i have seen 3 trampolines, 2 fence panels and a patio chair fly past my window - hahaha JOKING.

Well today is my sons birthday, he lives abroad and is 5 hours behind so i will ring him later, it would also be my mums birthday, she would have been 94...
sad

I saw this verse and thought it summed up how a mum feels about their child....

My GD is staying this week so today we are going to the garden centre for hot chocolate with marshmallow MAYBE CAKE TOO !!!! ( maybe not as im wanting to lose a few pounds !!!!)

Enjoy your day everyone smile

Good morning all from a very very wet and windy Black country.
Busy on here again 46 posts for me to catch up on, but not going anywhere so plenty of time to read.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed, enjoy your Monday and may you all find some ?.

love0c Mon 21-Feb-22 08:51:46

Morning everyone! Another mega windy night. Hardly any fence left now. Definitely need a new one. The sun is coming through nicely here in West Yorkshire. Going to go for a long walk to work off the lovely birthday meal last night with family. Enjoy your day whatever you may do smile

Alygran Mon 21-Feb-22 08:50:57

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Bright and very breezy this morning.
Sorry to hear of poorly husbands. Scientia and Fanny.
Love the boots Ash
This morning I need to get some rooms ready for my midweek visitors, DGS and his Auntie, DD2. Their first job will be to put the Christmas trees and decs in the loft out of the way!
Have a good day everyone.

Lins1066 Mon 21-Feb-22 08:50:31

Good morning all from our corner of the S Welsh coast where it is dry but still blowing a gale. Yesterday was another stormy day, we stayed by the fire and read for most of it.
Hope the driver will be alright Grandmadinosaur, the co-op drivers have to reverse down a narrow road to make their deliveries to our local shop, they are brilliant.
? Scentia and Fanny Hope your dh's are soon feeling better.
A worrying time for your sil GrandmaSeaDragon.
Gagagran I lost my wedding ring in the Mediterranean many years ago, so glad you found yours.
No plans today except taking the dog for a much needed walk.
Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Anniebach Mon 21-Feb-22 08:45:28

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Sar53 Mon 21-Feb-22 08:44:24

Good morning from a very blustery Essex by the sea. The sun is shining and not too cold.
I'm going out walking later, hope I don't get blown away !!!!
I'm glad you are home safe and well Ginster, I'm also looking forward to our lunch date next Monday.
My very best wishes to Scentia and her DH, a scary moment.
Have the best Monday you can and stay safe in the wind today xxx

Jaxjacky Mon 21-Feb-22 08:33:16

Pleased to see you’re home safely Gingster.
Ash forgot to mention your stylish boots, such petite feet, they look so neat.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 21-Feb-22 08:30:58

Good morning Mick and everyone from a bright and windy Hull. What a noisy night with the wind and driving rain. Really wished I’d taken down that wind chime as well before I went to bed.
Grandmadinosaur we kept an eye on that lorry news yesterday I’ve just told DH what you said about the driver.
Nothing much today as we are isolating till tomorrow but will do a zoom yoga.
Sorry to hear about your DH news ladies hope they are all ok with their health worries. Hope Monday brings moments of joy for everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 21-Feb-22 08:24:09

Morning Mick and all

We have been battered by Storm Franklin since around 7pm yesterday, rain has stopped but the wind is still gusty and strong.

Oh dear Scentia how worrying for you, hope DH is back home soon, perhaps he just overdone it in his run ?

Marydoll you need to rest as much as possible before the wedding ?

Ashcombe I love the boots, I live in flat boots in the winter, and like you I am a small size 21/2 - 3.

FannyCornforth I hope you get through to the GP, and that your DH is ok.?

Gingster pleased you are back home safely ?

Off to the gym this morning, then it’s ironing if The Imp let’s me ?

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

dustyangel Mon 21-Feb-22 08:24:07

Fanny I think I was getting your and Scentia’s husbands muddled up, sorry about that, I wish them both well soon.

dustyangel Mon 21-Feb-22 08:17:36

Good morning all, I hope it’s nothing serious with your husband Scentia so scary for you both when something happens suddenly like that. Im scared of getting UTI myself at the moment. I know I must drink sufficient water but as it’s so painful to get upright and out of bed am trying not to drink as much as normal. It’s a balancing act. Will have to start trying to contact our doctor (who knows my history) and get some stronger painkillers this morning.

Hymnbook Mon 21-Feb-22 08:15:55

Morning everyone. It is extremely windy here in Sherwood Nottingham and has been all night. I don't know why l bothered going to bed. My flat overlooks Woodthorpe Park an old oak came down in the night. They will probably shut the park again. I'm keeping an eye on the beech trees outside my window. Hope you all have the best day you can..

BlueSapphire Mon 21-Feb-22 08:13:57

Good morning everyone from a grey and very windy Northampton. I have decided against going to yoga this morning, partly because my friend who usually gives me a lift is still poorly with a chest infection, (and I cannot face the hassle of a bus today in this wind), and partly because I am going out for lunch with friends and need to have a tidy round as I shall invite them in afterwards for coffee.

Hoping that the pub I have booked at is ok for them, as our usual cheap and cheerful is not doing food today, and this new one is more of a gastro pub with prices to match! At least I shall not have to cook tonight.

Really enjoyed Death on the Nile yesterday, although there were changes to storyline and characters from the original text. Still prefer the Peter Ustinov version, though. When I came out of the cinema the rain was torrential, and the wind blowing a gale, and I got soaked walking to the bus, and again when I got off the other end. Was exceedingly pleased to get home.

Love the boots Ash, you will enjoy wearing them!

Sorry to hear of so many GNs and family members not well today. Hope.good news is soon on the horizon. flowersflowers for all.

Ashcombe Mon 21-Feb-22 08:12:57

I find it difficult to squeeze my feet into stylish boots.

Me too, dragonfly46, as I have a high instep but these boots have zips so I don’t even need to faff with the laces! ?

Georgesgran Mon 21-Feb-22 08:07:00

Good morning from a wild, windy Durham - almost 3 weeks of gales now. Sorry to read so many have poorly DHs and families today - my best wishes that things are not too serious go to all. After a busy weekend with DGS1 here, I plan an easy day before DD2 brings her dogs over for a 24hour stay. Her DH will bathe and bed DGS2, so we might nip to a local pub for a bit of dinner. A treat for both of us. I should make a start in the garden, but the wind is a good excuse not to - I don’t like gardening!

kittylester Mon 21-Feb-22 08:03:42

Good morning from a very wet and windy North Leicestershire.

Bed changing, ironing and meal prep for me today as DD1 and the children are coming to stay. They only live 15 miles away but they come every holiday for a night or two.

We had a busy but exhausting time at the wedding fair and DD3 was very pleased with how it went.

Chris3 Mon 21-Feb-22 08:03:22

Good morning from a sunny but very windy South Yorkshire. At least it's stopped raining! I believe that there is some flooding in the area which will be causing people a lot of stress and upset.
Child minding for us today. It would appear that I have agreed to paper mache today!
Hope all those with health problems get happy outcomes today. Much love all x

dragonfly46 Mon 21-Feb-22 08:02:55

So sorry forgot to mention you and your DH Fanny. I hope you both feel better soon.
