grannyrebel7 if you like Bahlsen biscuits, try Lidl's own brand, much cheaper, can't remember exact price, only buy fig rolls these days, 30% FRUIT, haha

Develop coeliac disease. Gluten free biscuits are usually pretty uninteresting / stale-tasting.

Of course you then may also go on to develop a husband who decides to make hobby out of baking delicious, fresh gluten free goodies.

The thin gods hate me too.

Borders Dark Chocolate Gingers - to die for. Fortunately they are really big, so with a bit of effort I can stop at one...

LinAnn52 Wed 23-Feb-22 13:36:41

We have a plain Lotus biscuit every morning with our coffee, but they have been scarce recently. Plenty of the cream ones around.

Willitwork Wed 23-Feb-22 13:47:01

Im laughing, if only i could. I have coeliac disease which means i have to eat gluten free. Most gluten free biscuits are £1.20 for 8. ?

The thin God hates me

I lost my sweet tooth when I stopped taking sugar in my tea aged 17 and can’t eat anything sugary. However eating cheese like some eat chocolate means the thin god doesn’t like me either!

I discovered that brand flying with Lufthansa - I thanked my lucky stars they couldn't be found in the US

But one day..... walking in Costco..... there they were... smiling at me, winking at me, calling my name.... cookies won!

Theoddbird Wed 23-Feb-22 14:32:20

I bought them once...grandchildren were visiting. I finished packet off by next day. This is why I never ever buy biscuits. I never by crisps either. Hot cross buns though....

madeleine45 Wed 23-Feb-22 14:39:20

lotus are trying to help you slim by making them smaller and smaller every time you get them! When I was being virtuous and avoiding all biscuits etc I used to buy my husband fig rolls. I really dislike them and he loved them, so a safe biscuit to have in the house. When my son was little my husband used to ask him if he wanted a sad or happy fig role, as you could turn it one way and it looked happy and the other sad. The big problem I have is ginger nuts. As a child my mother would be furious if we dunked them in the coffee. On a bad back day they are a very good temptation to fall for, and it is a self cuddle to have good coffee and ginger nuts to dunk in and a good book. Even better when the weather outside is awful and you can be pleased to be in the warm. Hope you can enjoy something this afternoon!

The cream ones don't do it for me but the ice-cream I could kill for. I dare not buy it because once I've popped, I just can't stop!

@B9exchange

I'm with you on the Borders Dark Chocolate Gingers, I can just about stop after 2, they are absolutely gorgeous.

I'm going to start breaking them in half and try 3 halves because they're another one that's over £1.50 for a pack of 9.

VioletSky Wed 23-Feb-22 15:05:05

Wait!

There is ice-cream?!?

Claretjan Wed 23-Feb-22 15:10:28

Am I the only one who hates lotus biscuits?!

Must try those! I am partial to Bahlsen biscuits, but they're really expensive. £1.75 for only 9 biscuits in the pack. Really moorish!

the Aldi rip off version by a different name are rather good and a far better price! I suggest buying a pack of each for comparison purposes

Ooh, yes!

Our local ice-cream shop does all different flavours at times. Last one I tried was Lotus & Bailey's flavoured ice-cream. Delicious grin

I so wish I'd been born with a 'savoury tooth' not a 'sweet tooth'. I've lost count of the diets I've tried and failed miserably and it;' always because of giving up the sweet stuff.

Same here, there must be a secret addictive ingredient that is not in other biscuits.

Definitely. Just discovered these and have put the pack away several times - considerably smaller each time !!

My DP has type 2 diabetes and has a really sweet tooth, and I was discussing various blood sugar issues with his quite stern diabetes nurse. I confessed to not being particularly empathetic because I don’t really have that much of a sweet tooth. I said my favourite ‘naughties’ were mostly savoury things - I love bread, chips, cheese, crisps etc. She looked me straight in the eye and said ‘that’s even worse’ and asked if I had been checked for pre diabetes !!

foxie48 Wed 23-Feb-22 17:22:32

I ate two of them at the hairdressers this afternoon but my favourite are Morrison's The Best dark chocolate ginger biscuits, even better then Border's IMHO.

Nairn’s salted caramel oat biscuits are irresistible.

Camelotclub Wed 23-Feb-22 17:57:29

Don't buy M&S chocolate digestives - not good at all! (For purse or avoirdupois)

DillytheGardener Wed 23-Feb-22 18:23:01

Peppermint after dinner mints are my downfall. They are best served all day long in my opinion!
