Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry here in brackley at present .
My weekend break in York , the hotel was by the river ,and I had ground floor room ,and looked out onto the river, and watched the swell recede over 2 days to normal level .
I have put on weight as per the meals etc, but it was also cold s well , finding the chill effected my own heart condition.
I went to Harrogate on the coach on Saturday , with 4 hours there , the plan was to meet Gwen but that did not happen as I felt more time would be better ,anyway I have a holiday booked in August nearer to Harrogate.
To be honest I wish this trip had been later towards Easter with milder weather .
Take Care,
Mick

Urmstongran Tue 01-Mar-22 06:07:47

For all our Welsh grans today!

Urmstongran Tue 01-Mar-22 06:09:53

Sorry to hear that the cold weather affected your health Mick. Rest up now till you feel settled again.

1st March already eh?

grandMattie Tue 01-Mar-22 06:14:00

White ? rabbits! It is still dark and drizzly over here in E Kent. I shouldn’t complain as we have had some gorgeous days recently.
I’m sorry your trip to your wasn’t as you would have wished, Mick. Hope the next one is more satisfactory.
I have finished the bag promised to one of the GMers. I hope she likes it.
Tai chi today. The husband of one of our group died on Sunday - as she is given to much histrionics, I wonder how she’ll be today. She has been persuaded by her son to come…
Supermarket shop and the making of several dozen pancakes. I shall try to get oatmeal for Staffordshire oatcakes - delicious.
Have a gentle day, everyone, don’t overdo it - that is mostly for you, Marydoll. Be a good girl this week! ?????☀️❤️???☀️

Urmstongran Tue 01-Mar-22 06:24:35

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga. It’s pitch black. Himself is snoozing. I’ve just made a cuppa and been reading the news headlines which are unsettling. Plucky Ukrainians are holding out - they are so brave.

The forecast today is superb. We have wall-to-wall sunshine forecast. Goody. Yesterday was cloudy and chilly!

I have my LWW group this afternoon - my favourite day of the week. First I have my usual wash & blow appointment at the salon downstairs then I’m meeting the ladies (well, the 2 who live out here anyway) over the road at the taxi rank. We are off down to the marina for lunch to celebrate the fact that it has been 7 years since our weekly group began. Only Covid restrictions ceased any meet ups for a few weeks in 2020 but otherwise LWW stays popular.

Enjoy Tuesday all who can. I hope Iris gets home today grandMattie and that the 3 musketeers from on here enjoyed their meet up yesterday! x

grandMattie Tue 01-Mar-22 06:29:26

B*Urms*, Iris went home on Saturday evening. She didn’t go to school yesterday, probably in pain, so I don’t know about today. I suspect her hip is giving her trouble- sad to say, but she is used to the pain in her shin. Thank you for asking! Xx

Lins1066 Tue 01-Mar-22 06:47:27

Good morning all from our corner of the S Welsh coast, it is dry but showers expected later.
An early start here, we are going to a South Devon village to a family ashes burial. My cousin died during lockdown last June and we sadly couldn't travel to her funeral, she was Welsh and her husband decided that Match 1st would be appropriate.

Our DD drove through the Mojave desert yesterday via Flagstaff on Route 66 to the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim. This part of her trip takes in three states, Arizona, Utah and Nevada.
DS went to register our little granddaughter yesterday so she now official, it took ages to get an appointment for that like everything else now.
Better get a wriggle on.
Take care everyone.

Beechnut Tue 01-Mar-22 06:49:45

Good Morning from Severnside. Overcast and still damp from yesterday’s rain. Pinch punch. February went by faster than a F1 car.

Another lovely bag Mattie.

I’m off to swimming this morning. It’s been a number of months since I last went. I don’t fancy getting ready for it but am looking forward to that first walk in the water.

Take care all and happier future holidays Mick ??

cornergran Tue 01-Mar-22 06:53:55

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry, chilly corner of Somerset.

Replacement fence installed yesterday, poor groundsmen were soaked but persevered. Feels much safer.

We married on St Davids day 53 years ago. It was more than cold, snow and ice. Fortunately not snowing today as we plan to take a bus trip. There will be coffee, lunch and possibly tea and cake. Well, it’s important to keep up my strength smile.

I’m sorry the trip wasn’t what you had hoped mick, stay warm today. Sounds a good day ahead urms, some of that sunshine would be good for us all.

Take care everyone. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Scentia Tue 01-Mar-22 07:03:55

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it feels cold and damp.
This will be my first day at the factory leaving DH at home alone. He better behave!! He feels physically really well but mentally he is struggling to be honest. He has had to cancel his motorcycle trip to the USA and that will be the third time he’s had to cancel it. Poor man❤️
I have no more news apart from that. Stay safe and healthy folks❤️

Gagagran Tue 01-Mar-22 07:06:17

Good Morning everyone from a damp and drizzly south coast.8.0c. Set to be rainy today and tomorrow according to the forecast.

I rang my dentist's surgery at 8am yesterday and got an appointment for 11.30am with the wonderful Harry. He had my old crown cleaned up and re-cemented in place in five minutes and I was home by 12 noon. Just hoping that the rule of three does not apply but he did joke as I left "Might see you in a couple of days" as this was the second crown failure in 3 days!

Sorry your York trip did not live up to expectations Mick. Being next to the river in your room would have enhanced the chill I expect. Hard to relax when you feel cold. Better luck next time.

Another lovely bag Mattie. Your clever fingers are so creative!

Glad you can enjoy the sun today Urms . You're not missing much weather-wise here for sure! I've heard that Spanish wine is calorie free. Can you confirm that? wink

Lins what an adventure for your DD is the USA! I love watching travel programmes of road trips there but I would not enjoy the real thing much as my achey joints find travel so uncomfortable these days.

Like many others, I am still shocked and very concerned about the situation in Ukraine. It feels as if no-one can control Putin and he can do what he wants despite the bravery of the Ukrainian President and people. Surely the Russian people don't want to be smeared by Putin's crazy, evil actions too? There must be some way to stop him even if it means removal.

Take care everyone and have the best day you can. sunshine

Ashcombe Tue 01-Mar-22 07:16:42

Good morning, all, from a dry Torbay with rain expected.

I’m sorry your trip didn’t match expectations, Mick, but I understand about the cold affecting one's heart condition. An excursion in warmer weather would be good.

Reminiscences about March 1st remind me that it’s four years since I battled with the Beast from the East to drive to Portsmouth! I left here at 11.00am and reached Travelodge in Portsmouth at 2.00am next day!! Poor DH in France feared I would succumb to hypothermia when I bedded down for a while in the New Forest as the traffic had ground to a halt. Luckily, the Army was deployed to clear a track through.

Another beautiful bag, grandMattie! I wonder whereabouts in S. Devon you are today, Lins1066. Safe travels. I’m glad all is well in the land of sunshine and long lunches, Urmstongran! Enjoy!

DH had his first annual infusion of Zoledronic acid in France yesterday and has had a rough night. He is due to travel here in a week's time.

Have a good day, everyone! ?????

GrannyGravy13 Tue 01-Mar-22 07:20:41

Morning Mick and all

More bits to move into DD’s new home, will help her with a big food shop ready for her to move in on Friday.

Had a surprise phone call from eldest AC, he and his wife are coming for a flying visit Wednesday and Thursday which will be lovely.

Gingster Sar53 and I had a lovely catch up yesterday.

Lovely bag grandMattie

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

ShazzaKanazza Tue 01-Mar-22 07:21:48

Good morning Mick and everyone from a damp but bright Hull, we have sunshine forecast today. Just looking out at the Acer and it looks like it’s dripping with diamonds with the raindrops.
It was sunny in our area Mick but it was very cold at the weekend. We are only 30 miles from York and I agree it was chilly. A trip in August to Harrogate will be better for you.
grandMattie I really love the bag it’s perfect for spring. You are so talented. Can’t wait to show it off.
Today is DHs birthday, DD, SIL, and GD are coming over at lunch and tonight we are going to our local Italian a five minute walk away. He’s going to the gym for the morning which he loves.
My thoughts are with those Ukrainians waiting for that 40 mile Russian convoy. Can’t imagine how those poor brave souls are feeling?
Have a lovely day everyone and hope Tuesday brings moments of joy.

Pantglas2 Tue 01-Mar-22 07:26:35

???????Dydd Gwyl Dewi a diwrnod Crempog ?hapus iawn - that’s a happy St David’s and Pancake Day from a dry but cold north Wales!

That trip your DD is enjoying has made me ?green with envy Lins as we did something similar 12 years ago - I’d love to repeat it but suspect DH health is not up to it now!

Cleaning and packing today as tomorrow we’re off to stay a couple of nights with our newest friends in rural Herts - hope it’s as lovely as they are down there - I’ve not been down that way before so looking forward to a scenic drive and hope the weather is kind.

Hope Mick and all under the weather have a better day x

Beechnut Tue 01-Mar-22 07:28:28

Good morning all from a damp S Hants. Happy Anniversary Mr&Mrscorner enjoy your day.
Lovely bag gMattie every one a delight.
Feeling cold is miserable Mick ?for next time.
My daughter tested +ve yesterday, hoping it’ll be mild. I’m out to lunch with a friend today, then Mr J and I might go for a seaside walk, it depends on how much rain we get. Enjoy your lunch Urms.
Have a lovely day all.??

Susan56 Tue 01-Mar-22 07:33:06

Good morning from Shropshire.

Happy St David’s day and Happy anniversary corner and Mr corner???

Annie I have attached a photo of the children ready for school and nursery.x

We have had a really hectic few days but today should be more relaxing.DD is taking me out for lunch and then we are going to see Death on the Nile. It’s my birthday tomorrow so an early celebration.

Thinking of Iris and hoping that Marydoll is resting and feeling stronger ready for the big day on Friday.

Scentia, very difficult for you and your husband.Thinkingnof you both.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 01-Mar-22 07:36:14

Good morning all from bright Harrogate
Happy St David’s Day to those who it is appropriate.
Sorry the weather wasn’t warm enough for you Mick you have to admit it was nice and bright, though.
Yesterday spent our 52nd wedding anniversary resetting my MacBook, then finding I was locked out of it. Managed to contact Apple and they got it sorted. Now that’s done I shall have to get my bank to unblock me. DH has had the same trouble with his bank and was on the phone most of yesterday to try to sort the problem. We’d Ben told our new printer needed to be changed, so took it back, just to be told there is nothing wrong with it, where the lead goes in is meant to be very loose!
More wasted time - I was thinking to myself “happy anniversary “
Picked up a meal from M&S to celebrate, wasn’t too impressed with the choice - pie or lasagne, but DH was happy.
This morning, my art club is restarting as is another club at the church, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, so not much chance of getting anything else done. Though DH and I will have some pancakes tonight!
Sorry little Iris is in pain GrandMattie love your bag!
Have the best day you can folks

Marydoll Tue 01-Mar-22 07:40:10

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where its only 0°.

Happy St David's Day to our Welsh grans. This would have been my late father's 116th birthday today, he was a fair bit older than my mother.

I'm sorry your trip did not live up to your expectations, Mick and you didn't manage to meet Gwen. York has always been a favourite of mine, there never seemed enough time to see everything.

Thank you GM for your kind words. Unfortunately, yesterday was a particularly bad day for me. After organising the buttonholes for Friday and having a lovely chat with the florist, who had made DD's bouquet, I started to feel really really unwell and light headed, so spent the rest of the day in bed. I woke up hours later to smell Mr MD, cooking dinner. He must have been worried, he rarely cooks!!
I had so many plans, so will need to catch up today. As Soop would say, such buggerations.
Thank goodness it wasn't Friday.

While I was in bed, I could hear the landline ringing for ages, DH never answers it, because it will definitely not be for him.
It turns out that his new car, which wasn't due until May, has been delivered!! Panic stations all round.
However, totally out of character, he told them he was too busy and he would deal with it after the wedding. Thank goodness for that, we are busy enough this week!

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans. I will go and read all your news at my leisure..

brook2704 Tue 01-Mar-22 07:42:39

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright, dry but cold.
Your bag looks lovely Shazza, I’ll be using mine again today when I go to my Fitsteps dance class later - thanks again to the very talented GM!
That’s a gorgeous photo Susan such lovely smiles
Happy Anniversary Corner enjoy your day! ???
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Grandmabatty Tue 01-Mar-22 07:49:21

Good morning all from Polmont. 2° and frosty with lovely blue skies. I'm sorry Mick that your trip wasn't as good as you hoped. Being chilled is so uncomfortable. Grandmattie the bag is lovely. I hope Iris gets better soon. Happy anniversary Cornergran and happy At David's Day to all Welsh grans. A lovely photo Susan.
Yesterday was a waiting in day for phonecall and a tesco delivery. I was quite lazy in between both.
Today I'm heading to town to buy a gift card for dd. It's her birthday tomorrow and she wants to renew her makeup collection so a visit to boot's is required. I will pick up card for mounting a painting I did. I will do some pastel drawing later today and begin a little oil painting. I might get into the garden for a while. Chicken for dinner. Have a good day all

Pittcity Tue 01-Mar-22 07:49:46

Good morning from rainy Colchester. It's feeling a bit milder.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day so I'd better get ready.

Happy Anniversary Corner

Love to all ? x

Grandmabatty Tue 01-Mar-22 07:49:52

Should say St David's Day. My apologies.

monk08 Tue 01-Mar-22 07:54:33

Good morning all from the Black country, lovely sunny start to the day but it's showing up the dust so it looks like today is sorted.
We're at the theatre tonight to see Fatal attraction, will go for a meal beforehand.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed, enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.
