How often do you shower and wash your hair

I was surprised to read on one of the other forums that a lady showered twice a day.
My husband before he retired showed at work before coming home. He did work that required this.
Into retirement I shower two to three times a week and wash my hair once a week. A strip wash daily for me is fine unless I am doing heavy gardening work.
My understanding was that showering too much is not good for us.

JackyB, one of my dds could hardly ever be bothered with a hairdryer. (Still can’t.) She spent several months in St Petersburg as part of her degree course, and would go out in the winter with wet hair when it was so cold, some of it would ice over on her head! The locals were horrified and issued dire warnings of pneumonia and death.
But she’s another who never got colds even then, and still doesn’t.

I’m a bath girl, bath every other day. Wash my hair once a week I’m trying to get it in better condition.

Not much mention of bidets here, apart from soaking feet in them, but I absolutely love them and had one fitted when we moved here. If you use the bidet regularly there’s no need for daily baths and showers with all that waste of water and electricity. I think they’re a woman’s thing. Men laugh at them for being pointless but they’re so useful, especially during periods.

I have a shower every 3 days and wash my hair at the same time. I do more often in hot weather or been for a long walk. My skin is dry so any more I would be in trouble

Been waiting 2 years for my new shower. Now it's in finished and it's First Shower night tonight!
I go swimming 4 times a week so shower before and after for hygiene/chlorine removal.
I love a candlelit bath on a Friday night with prosecco. Hubby watches a film downstairs and all is well.
Hair once a week. (Tucked in hat for swimming.)
Have a nice day, y'all. x

Every other day

Shower daily. Hair generally every other day. (Haven't had a bath for years!)

I shower and wash my hair daily. Hubby does too. I feel dirty if I don't shower.

I wash my hair as little as I can get away with, every 5-7 days. I like baths with bath oil but nor more than twice a week, max. Showering is so quick, would have one if I felt grubby but I'm guessing not more than every 3 days unless it was really hot and sticky.
I firmly believe that it's bad for your skin to bathe or shower too often, just wash any niffy bits when necessary.
I have a friend who has a bath AND a shower every day. Her skin shows its age and it seems like a ridiculous waste of water and power.

Shower daily unless it’s very hot, when it is twice. Wash my hair twice a week. Hate baths.

Every day

I love a bidet too but sadly no room for one in my current bathroom. Plan to have a hand shower on the bath, at the end nearest the loo, to create a substitute!

Years ago, living in the tropics, 2 showers every day was essential, sometimes 3. Years ago here in Wales, a Saturday night bath, once a week, was a thing.

Anything else could be sorted out with a good squirt of perf.

I shower twice or three times a week and wash my hair at the same time. Never bath! However, I am so pleased I have my bidet (some may call it old-fashioned to me it's essential) so a wash and bidet on the non-shower days. My husband wants to remove the bidet from the separate shower room to make a larger shower - eek! Lucky we have two. 5 minute shower for wash, hair wash and condition, shave legs and underarms, clean down shower with squeegee and shower spray - out! Even drying off takes seconds as i put a towelling robe on straight away, dry feet on tumble-twist bath mat, and wrap a towel around my hair for a few minutes. So why does my husband take 20 minutes in there or 30 if he's 'washing his hair'? His hair is very, very short!!!

I left MumsBet coz I felt so old and out of touch. Also coz of the bitchiness.

I shower 2x a week and wash hair once, I think people wash too much and destroy our natural oils that protect our skin, creams can never duplicate our natural oils and who knows what some of them are made of?

Bath/shower and hair wash everyday. Feel horrible if I don’t.
Usually twice a day in the hot weather. I’ve done this since my teens.

I’m a bath girl I get one once a day and wash my hair ever other day and DH jumps in after me. He’s at the gym most days and gets a shower there too. I’m always disappointed if I go to a hotel and there’s only a shower.

Me too! I don’t use a lot of water, particularly for the bathtimes when I don’t also wash my hair, but I’m really not a shower person.

I have a bath every evening whilst listening to The Archers or somethingelseif it's a Friday or Saturday. If I'm going out in the daytime to do anything other than swim, I have a quick shower & wash my hair. If I'm going swimming, I have a brief shower before entering the pool and a proper shower & hair wash after I've come out. So, some weeks it's 7 baths & no shower at all & some weeks it's 7 baths & lots of showers. I never use a hair dryer - I have a short, choppy style & thick hair which dries in no time. I always have a secret smile as I watch people in the changing room at the pool painstakingly blow drying their hair. Just a quick tweak & a check in the mirror & I'm good to go.

Shower every day and wash hair at same time, don’t feel good if it isn’t washed and conditioned

Can’t believe that as a child we only had a Bath once a week, usually Sunday evening so nice and clean for School.

Only had a quick wash in the morning before school so must have smelled awful by the end of the week ?

lizzypopbottle Tue 08-Mar-22 12:43:35

I just got out of the shower! However, the last time I showered was Saturday morning. I used shampoo on Saturday but not today. I think it's a good idea for men to take a quick shower frequently. Perhaps that's sexist....

I think we should all use a lot less hot water. It would save energy and a lot of money. Water is not an infinite resource, either.

Tiggersuki Tue 08-Mar-22 12:46:58

Find some of this hard to believe.
We only have showers in our house and both of us shower daily of course. Who wouldn't if they can afford to.

Sawsage2 Tue 08-Mar-22 12:47:45

I think this thread is for people who want to feel superior and look down on people who don't have as many baths/showers as them hmm. I have 25 baths a day and 50 showers! (Top that someone grin

Quick shower and hair wash everyday. I have short fine hair so by the time I wash out the shampoo I've had a shower. Only time bath is used is when young GD visits and I have managed to acquire any bath bombs for her.
