Can I ask if any of you have had cosmetic surgery or fillers in an attempt to make them selves look younger?
Would those who haven’t, consider it if they could afford it?The reason I’m asking is that, a friend of mine has had a face lift and it honestly looks amazing! You’d never know she’d had it done. So natural. She just looks 45 instead of 60! I never knew they Couid look so natural. It’s made me think about if I’d be brave enough if I had the funds.

I am 67 this year and started having botox and fillers around 4 years ago. I am very happy with the treatments I get but I did a lot of research before I took the plunge. I have a Dr do mine - he is actually an orthopaedic surgeon at our local hospital and does this sort of treatment several times a month in a local beautician. However, he and his wife (also a surgeon) have just opened their own beautician which will, offer a greater choice of treatments. I no longer have mannequin lines (I think that's what they are called) crows feet or a droopy jaw line. I no longer have a dip in my chin under my lips. As he said, all I am doing is putting back the volume that age has taken away. I would love to have a lower face lift because of my ever-drooping turkey neck and am seriously thinking of having this done next year (hubby totally against this though). I have never regretted mine and he won't ever give me any treatment that he believes will make me look as though I have had treatment, if you see what I mean. Do your homework and, if you still want it, then I would say go for it if it is within your budget. Good luck but do it for yourself, not for anyone else.

My face and body reflect a woman who has lived, laughed, cried and eaten, produced two gorgeous children and enjoyed the sun, wind and rain. I’m thrilled that I’m still here however I look.

I think the problem is that people have work done and look great but don't know when to stop.
A friend had fillers and looked really good but gradually had more and more until she looked like a doll, very exaggerated cheekbones and lips. Somehow she doesn't look real, and also not so attractive.

I have always had thin lips and as I age they are getting even thinner but there’s no way I would have lip filler…

Well done Siptil983. I am all for anything that makes you feel better about yourself and it's a shame that many on here are so judgemental. I have had a few treatments before covid including botox, fillers etc but I can't afford much else. If I win the lottery I will have everything lifted!!

rafichagran Fri 11-Mar-22 12:49:08

I have not and will not have cosmetic work done. I do think it is up to the individual though. I also dont always think it is vanity, and if it makes people feel good and better for it, I say my go for it.
Some posts are very judgemental, live and let live.

If I could afford cosmetic surgery it would be to have some dental implants. Because of health conditions I have had alot of problems with my teeth.

It really annoys me as I've always looked after my teeth. I suppose I would have full dentures though, now if I hadn't looked after my teeth, my dentist says.

I have a good skin routine, use all the right creams etc, I have a facial and microderbrasion quarterly.

I do daily facial yoga, coupled with my late parents who looked younger than there age I don't look my age. I'm taken for mid to late 40s. I'm 59 + 1 (Sniff yes I know - I just can't say it)

I also use Dermatica which is a skin treatment you put on later at night after you have done your usual routine.

No I haven't had surgery, botox fillers or anything. I can afford it but it's not for me. I would never have anything like this unless I was disfigured in an accident
I use plain water and a flannel to wash my face. Baby wipes to remove makeup on the rare occasion I wear it, followed by a good rinse with water.
Have sensitive skin so water works just fine.

My friend had Botox injections. Developed a lump few months later fortunately she was seeing a consultant relating to another problem and he spotted the small. It had to be removed as it had become cancerous she was months after until it was sorted. No I would never have a face lift or Botox.

Twig14 Fri 11-Mar-22 13:00:22

Sorry should read spotted the small lump

GraceQuirrel Fri 11-Mar-22 13:07:23

Have had Botox for 20+ years and some fillers (don’t last long so don’t bother now). I would definitely have surgery, facial and body, if I could afford it which I never will be able to.

Can people not feel proud of themselves what ever age they are we re not meant to look 20 when we are 70/80 there is nothing sadder than someone pretending to be young Lulu looks ridiculous Pricilla Presley even worse a young girl face on an old gals neck
I do not admire anyone who is so vain that they need to try to make themselves look like a teen again

Be proud ladies every line every wrinkle has a story behind it be proud of what you are and who you ve become

I tend to age with you Bb but, alasI think it will be very hard for people to view wrinkles with pride, as every young woman I know (and their friends who I dont) from 20 -35y has had botox. They arnt ashamed to say so.

When I asked they said they would have what ever they needed in the future if they could afford it. They see it as maintenance. Along with straight whitend teeth and colour or straightened hair.

Society is very judgemental, and I dont see many, if they can pay, not following this trend into their dotage.

In fact, it will be a sign of prestige similar to the unnatural white skin and high hairline of the Elizabethan age, imv.

Anyway as others have said, procedures have improved so not everyone looks like Carol V.

The world worships youth and not wisdom.

I’ve had Botox 3 times a year for the past 10 years due to permanent facial palsy. I’ll be honest it’s not something I’d of ever of had normally, although I have it to try to even my face out she puts a bit in my number 11 lines and for migraines and I have to say yes my skin or rather lack of wrinkles is a bonus so would recommend Botox but quite frankly would never go near fillers. I was also lucky enough about 8 years ago to be given an upper eye lift on the NHS due to my palsy to even my droopy eye out (both were done at the time) and was extremely pleased with the outcome, very natural and nobody knew, just said I was looking good and palsy was looking better. I would love to have another eye lift done again as I feel I need it and would recommend it to anyone with heavy eye lids as long as it’s done by an extremely good consultant which mine was, doubt I’d ever be lucky enough to have it done on the NHS again but if I ever get the money together wouldn’t hesitate. One other thing I can recommend is micro blading of eye brows, as long as you find a really good artist it’s brilliant, wake up and eye brows are good to go.

I had a lower face thread lift in January it was uncomfortable to have done and I think I was too old (66) for this procedure as you do need to have more fat in your face. I did have the smallest threads they make! Daughters tell me I do look fresher and my jawline is sharper but I can still feel the threads and I wouldn't do it again. Next time a proper face lift and upper lid surgery. ...when I have money to spare. I have had some filler in the lines around my mouth and from my nose but I wouldn't have them again as I feel they are a bit lumpy! Can't see them but when you press the skin you can feel them. What I will have again is profhilo injections they just hydrate your skin, last about 3 months and just make you look fresher

Talk about first world problems!

Cambia Fri 11-Mar-22 13:36:28

Let’s not miaow ladies!! Each to their own, so long as you are happy. Personally I think water, fresh air and sleep are the best beauty treatments and they are free! Follow up with good diet and a smile and you will knock ten years off.

GardenofEngland Fri 11-Mar-22 13:41:09

Germanshepherdsmum did you not read the thread title!
I'm sure we all know about first world problems as well!

knspol Fri 11-Mar-22 13:42:11

Each to their own. I'd never want Botox or fillers after seeing so many grotesque results on the TV especially those pneumatic lips.
I wouldn't have a face lift either but only because I'm a coward but if I personally saw the results of a Judy Murray type treatment on somebody I knew then I would be sorely tempted. Why wouldn't anybody like to look and feel better if they could?

Jillykins3 Fri 11-Mar-22 13:43:01

I have had Botox and fillers for several years before the pandemic. When l look back on those pre pandemic fotos l realize that l looked fresher and a bit more attractive. I have made a new appointment for April. Most people have small to moderate amounts of filler and Botox that do not look obvious and it is annoying that we get clumped together with the women who ruin their faces with ridiculous looking treatments. No-one would ever know unless l told them or they compared a before and after pic. That is fine if it is not for you.....but it is for me and it makes me more confident and happy.

Sarnia Fri 11-Mar-22 13:54:02

I am no oil painting but I have never been tempted to have any cosmetic surgery. People like Judi Dench, Camilla and Helen Mirren don't seem as if they have sacrificed themselves on the image altar and look much better to me than older ladies with shiny complexions, lips a haddock would be proud of and a permanently startled expression.

Of course I did, and all the posts too. Just seems a tad shallow at the moment don’t you think? On second thoughts don’t answer that.

Dalfie5577 Fri 11-Mar-22 14:18:22

Yes! I had really really dark circles under my eyes which no amount of concealer or sleep could rectify. I had tear trough filler and the difference is amazing. I don't wat to look 20 years younger just a more rested version of myself. It has given me such a confidence boost which is what it is all about in the end I think. Just research your practitioner thoroughly. The lady I see is amazing - she doesn't just charge and pump in filler by the ml but every consultation is designed specifically for each client's needs. I don't advertise the fact I've had anything done as there is still so much prejudice against these sort of procedures not helped by many celebrities strange results but I have had many compliments saying how well I look. It is an ongoing expense as the filler gradually dissolves over time but I will keep it up as long as I can afford it!

MaggsMcG Fri 11-Mar-22 14:18:55

My daughter isn't even 50 yet but she has had all sorts of stuff done. She has a friend who has done the training so she pays just for the products used and returns the labour costs in favours for her friend. It does look good but I wonder how long it will last before she has to do it again. This time with her friend being fully qualified she would have to pay full whack.

Foxyferret Fri 11-Mar-22 14:26:30

Absolutely not. What is the point? Everything on the inside is still old unless you are going for multiple transplants. Vanity, vanity all is vanity.

4allweknow Fri 11-Mar-22 14:33:01

Just watched an item on lunch time news. The reporter in Moscow looked awful. Teeth so so so white, bright red lipstick with cupid bow so defined that made her teeth look massive. No thank you, no fillers, surgery for me, not even teeth whitening.
