Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight and looks dry outside ,and could turn out to be a nice day weather-wise here in brackley.
Today , a small shop early and then comeback and do a bit more spring cleaning before maybe making a coffee with biscuits ,and then watch cycling on TV this afternoon.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a cloudy North Wales but I am hoping for some sunshine later.
I have finally made an appointment to get my now very long hair cut. I am like an aging Rapunzel staring out of my window waiting for my prince on a white charger. Can't be bothered with that. I'm off out.
Have a pleasant day everyone and wishing you all some ☀️☀️ ☀️

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 16-Mar-22 08:11:25

Good morning all from dry Harrogate
Yesterday I had a burst of energy and cleaned out a fridge freezer- looking at the state of it I must have forgotten to do it last year!! That’s it ready for another year!! I chucked out a load of sauces that DH buys and uses once.
Would your DH like ambrosias rice pudding grandmattie? I hate the smell of Milkie puddings. DH makes porridge for himself, I make sure I am elsewhere I the house. It’s the only thing he cooks! He has it ladled with fresh cream and sugar. Yeugh!!
I, too, am looking forward to hearing about the antics of the Glesga Grans - I’d have loved to be there- Glasgow is my favourite city.
If your tests are negative you have to accept you are covid free Ashcombe. Maybe just take care like we all do.
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning everyone from a dull grey Northampton; 9°C outside and rain forecast this afternoon. Still waiting for my tea as I have just taken my alendronic tablet.

DS came yesterday morning and cleared some stuff from the garage for me. Had such a lovely health walk yesterday afternoon in the spring sunshine followed by an hour of setting the world to rights over coffee.

DS will be down again this morning to sort out the rats nest of cables in the study. I'm too worried to mess with them in case I unplug something I shouldn't! I may offer him coffee and hot cross buns as a reward!

Well-being cafe this.afternoon, then this evening I shall be (like Urmston) a LWW! I have belonged to a ladies' wine club since the early 90s, and tonight is our first meeting since before the first lock down. It will be so nice to see everyone again and drink some serious wine......

Thoughts to all those coping with illness and worries, may Wednesday be kind to you.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow.

Good to hear you both had a better day, yesterday GM.

Novella warning, look away now!!!

As predicted, I am absolutely shattered, but I am on such a high! A great day out, with such lovely grans, who are just as nice in real life, as they are on the forum.
There was so much chatting that we ran out of time, it was a splendid meeting. In fact, I think we only have a few photos, we totally forgot about taking some. I think Grammaretto has a couple.

Of course, I did encounter a few minor problems along the way!
Surprisingly my car was picked up by a lovely young man at 7.30am, which boded well for a good day. To ensure my day out was not interrupted, by trivialities about my car, I had made sure that any problems were directed to Mr MD. I should have known that wouldn't work.

My plans were to get a reasonably early train. Of course, things didn't go to plan. Hair washed, make up on, guid claethes on and I was raring to go.
However, being my usual organised self I decided to get my concession card out, to avoid being a footering, old biddy causing a queue at the station. It was nowhere to be found, despite always being in my purse. I spent so much time looking for it, I missed two trains.
DH eventually advised me to just pay the bl**dy full fare! This was mainly because the Cheltenham event is on this week and he was itching to settle down and organise his bets.

I got to the station, with minutes to spare, to find it was all locked up! I had to run all the way under the railway bridge and up a million steps ( well they seemed like a million steps), and saw on the board, that I had 40 seconds to make the train! This is not easy when you are wearing a face mask and your legs are very short!

Thankful to have made it on the train in one piece, I noticed that I had a message from the dealership, asking me to confirm work that needed done to my car, despite me leaving a post it in my car, asking them to contact DH, not me. However, I couldn't open the message!
Just as I was phoning DH for help and trying to talk surreptitiously with my mask partly off, the ticket collector arrived. The mask caught on my earring, the elastic burst and it must have been at that point my earring was lost! Why is it always a favourite one? ?
So there was I trying to hold the mask on with one hand and pay my fare with the other.
When did I turn into this footering, flustered old biddy? On arriving at I
Glasgow Central, I had to sit for ages, until I felt better.
However, when I phoned Mr MD, I was floored! For the first time in over forty years, he had phoned the dealership, made an executive decision and organised the essential work only on the car, saying that it was time for me to think of buying a new car and getting an automatic. Yes!!!

I was so busy chatting with my granspals, I never heard my phone ring, it was Kalu and the others, who alerted me. It was the dealership again. I couldn't hear the service chap at all. He actually asked what the racket was and burst out laughing when I told him, I was out with a crowd of grans! ?
Rather than ask him to phone DH in the middle of a race, I decided it would be less problematic to just settle the bill. It took three attempts, as the service chap could hear a word!! ?

We were having such a good time, that I missed the train, the next one and the next one!
Kalu, tried to lead me astray by asking me to goshopping, instead of going home. I wish I had done so.
Firstly, she got bargains and I didn't
Secondly, when I phoned DH for a lift, he said my car hadn't yet been returned and I would need to walk home from the station, ?
I discovered that there are a fair number of garden walls from my home to the station! Apologies to anyone, whose wall, I sat on. I had only just got home, when my car was returned!!???

I am off to Mass this morning, but DH is accompanying me, so no socialising allowed! I talk to much!!
However, candles will be lit and prayers offered for all who need them.

I am going to gloss over my totally senior moment, when I met Baubles, whom I know well,
I asked her who she was, as she was very familiar. Did I know her from somewhere ? This very elegant lady was not the image I had in my head. I have absolutely no idea, who this person in my head was. blush Lockdown has definitely addled my brain! ? Sorry, baubles.

Have the best day possible, everyone and thank you all the Glesca Grannies, for looking after me. ? A special thanks to TopsyIrene of the fabulous glasses, for the gift of mini eggs. What a kind gesture, especially since I hadn't beenvable to summon up the energy to make my usual tablet!

I will be back later, once I have caught up with all your news.

baubles Wed 16-Mar-22 08:26:39

Good morning Mick, morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

What a terrific time we had yesterday, such fun to meet new people as well as those I’d met before, the chat didn’t stop. Grandmabatty, Marydoll had very different picture of me in her head - even although we’ve met a few times. ???

Today I am meeting a friend for lunch, honestly I hardly go out and now this is my third consecutive day of socialising. I’ll have to lie down in a darkened room tomorrow.

My DDad enjoyed ‘a little bit of fish’ Mattie, when he didn’t have much of an appetite.

Thinking of those who are in need of a virtual hug.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Urmstongran Wed 16-Mar-22 08:37:22

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where we had a storm at 5am the lightning lit up the room and then the rolling thunder woke us both up! Bizarre weather for the time of year indeed. Rain again today. Yesterday at noon, the sky was bathed in orange light - so much so that while I was in the hair salon everyone was commenting upon it - the bar owners next door came in to discuss the phenomenon! Puddles were orange - they were full of sand which was the reason for the orange sky it seems.

A lot of banging going on next door - workmen are in gutting the place. Bang! Bang! Bang! Such a funny holiday ... stay in and listen to the demolition workers next door - they’ve started already this morning! - or go out in the rain haha! ??

Oh now the drilling has started up. Aargh!!

Pittcity Wed 16-Mar-22 08:43:51

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. Day 9 and still testing positive.
DH has had 2 negatives and is back in action. He is fishing today.
I may get the paint pot out as we still have decorating to do. We are tackling it a little bit at a time.
Love to all ?x

luluaugust Wed 16-Mar-22 08:47:33

Good morning all from a grey W Kent. Off for coffee with friend, a wedding coming up in their family which we are invited to, so I can guess what we will be talking about.
Glad the meet up in Glasgow went well, I am sure we used to have one locally here.
Good wishes to all

EkwaNimitee Wed 16-Mar-22 08:59:56

Good morning Mick and everyone from dull grey Carlisle where we have had the odd spot of rain.
It will be an indoors day today, mostly to give my back a rest after planting activities in the garden yesterday. A large potted holly I'd bought turned out to be 4 separate plants so meanie me thought I'd spread them out to get 4 bushes eventually. Of course, that meant digging 4 holes not one. It was a lovely day to be outside, the warmest day so far, almost t-shirt weather.

Mick mentioned the spring cleaning word. I realised I've now been here almost a year and maybe, just maybe, I ought to be thinking whether some spring cleaning is due. Not today though! After a little housework, I shall settle in to admin duties plus I still have a couple of pictures leaning against the walls waiting for me to hang them.
Have a good day everyone.

GrannySomerset Wed 16-Mar-22 09:19:19

The Glasgow meet up sounds enviable though hard on the vocal chords. I am off to a craft group shortly, something for which I have little talent but much enthusiasm, and they are such a nice group. Yesterday I went to WI, the first time since Lockdown One, and was overwhelmed to be so warmly welcomed. People are lovely and are making my gradual re-entry to normal life so much easier. Today feels like a good day.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 16-Mar-22 09:20:59

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a dull Hull. Lots of rain forecast for this afternoon which is good to bed in all the foxgloves DH distributed round the garden after they took root on the veg patch.

grandMattie?

Sar enjoy your family reunion.

Ash I will be surprised if you don’t have covid. My friends son took ages to test positive after his girlfriend tested positive with the same symptoms you have. But fingers crossed you won’t have it though but as I always say a dose of Omricon is better than 3 vaccines. The same thing was said on the radio yesterday.

Marydoll and all the grans it’s been lovely to hear about your meet up. Marydoll I was engrossed in your novella lol.
Yesterday my DD and family popped over with DGD1 having very teary brown eyes as she’d just been for her pre school vaccine. She had a bravery sticker right in the middle of her forehead. She was on her way to the toy shop and a McDonald’s for being brave so that was cushioning the blow.
Today not to much. I should do a zoom Pilates recording but not sure I can be bothered with being out late last night and enjoying a few drinks. Later picking DGS up from school. DH is just going to walking football the energetic so and so.
Enjoy your day everyone and hope Wednesday brings moments of joy?

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 16-Mar-22 09:30:12

Morning all from a grey day in West Oxfordshire. It is my WIs AGM this evening. I’m Secretary so I’ve quite a bit of admin to do - the most difficult being my report which I’m having to change. One of the committee is standing down after over 30 years! I don’t know her that well but will have to say something. I think the Chair will say something too.

Kalu Wed 16-Mar-22 09:32:13

Good morning all from a damp Glasgow. Just popping in to do a head count of certain Grannies and I see all are present and hopefully in one piece.

We had a terrific day yesterday, what a great bunch of friendly people whose company I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a tonic.
DD1, the one who is approaching the (^mentalpause^) Grammaretto phoned to check I had enjoyed my day and got home safely! ? Even she has heard of the Glasgow Grannies.
I couldn’t believe the Queen of Shopping aka, Marydoll turned down such an opportunity?. Thank you for your lovely company all. I thought Jenny Agutter had joined us but it was Brook who is the image of her. Looking forward to the next get together.

GrandM I am so sorry to read of your troubles and what you and your DH are going through. You are such a stoical lady but please, remember to look after yourself too. ?

Sorry to read your upsetting news Kitty. Much love to you and your DD1. ?

Hope everyone has a good day.

hollysteers Wed 16-Mar-22 09:33:30

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers, northwest coast.
I’ve had a day and a half of sickness, IBS/hernia and maybe the pork pie just past it’s best. Going to wobbly venture out today for lunchtime concert after missing singing in a pre St, Patrick’s day get together.
Thinking of those with worries for their daughters and anyone else with troubles ?

Stilllearning Wed 16-Mar-22 09:40:10

Morning from East Renfrewshire where I’m still in residence after a very exciting couple of days celebrating both birthday and a happy meet up with the ‘Glescagrans’. It was a really great afternoon of chat and laughter and everyone was as nice as anyone could have wished. It will be so good to be able to ‘see’ people when reading their posts

An early start today when six year old grandson joined me in bed just after 5am, but at least it gave his mum a break, I can have a snooze later.

About to tackle the ironing before I head off to my exercise class and more blethering, which is lovely.

Thanks to Bridie and Marydoll for organising yesterday and to everyone who turned up and made it such a success, I hope it’s not too long before we can do it again.

As always kind thoughts to those struggling just now and best wished to everyone ???

Chris3 Wed 16-Mar-22 09:50:25

Good morning from wet and miserable South Yorkshire. Good to hear the Glasgow grans had such a good time.
I have cold symptoms, did a lateral flow yesterday and it was positive so not happy! This is the second time I've had it and I'm fully vaccinated and boosted! Never mind I'm sure I will be fine and hopefully recover quickly.
Healing and loving thoughts to all those with troubles. Have a good day all x

LauraNorderr Wed 16-Mar-22 09:58:34

Good morning from dull and drizzly Anglesey. Off to the mainland soon for Orlin’s eye appointment.
The Glasgow meet up sounds a hoot, what fun.
Wishing for a peaceful day for all
???

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 16-Mar-22 10:04:31

Good morning from a wet and chilly Oxfordshire.
Nothing to do again today, day 5 of Covid and it’s playing havoc with my Asthma, so lots of rest and inhalers.
MrOops is on day 8 and is still testing positive.
It’s getting very boring now.
So pleased that the Glasgow Grans had fun yesterday.
Hope everyone has a good day, hugs for those who have cares and worries.

TopsyIrene06 Wed 16-Mar-22 10:08:50

A dull but could be brighter later southside of Glasgow this morning.
I would simply like to tell all the posters on here that meeting the Glasgow Grans yesterday was an uplifting afternoon delight spent with very attractive women both in body and soul.
As a relative newcomer to Scotland and having experienced a rough couple of years, it was a real tonic to meet such a friendly, compatible group. MaryD so glad you made it. Honestly, we never stopped yakking and listening - there are only so many hours in an afternoon. Apologies for having to repeatedly remind me of your names.
Thanks all, see you again I hope.

Blossoming Wed 16-Mar-22 10:43:25

Good morning Mick and everyone. Dull and rather muggy in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently 10°C. Rain forecast for the afternoon.

The hospital visit went well, they didn’t keep me hanging about and looked after me so well. They are always very kind. Some blood taken to test for cancer markers, this is supposed to be done every 6 months but went a bit awry due to Covid. My next appointment is by telephone in 3 months, I will ring them next week and ask about the blood test results.

I need to get some fresh air so will go for a walk later, rain or no.

The Glasgow Grans meet-up sounds wonderful, as I knew it would be. I will have my longed for trip to Glasgow one day.

For all with health worries, their own or family and friends, I hope there is better news soon. flowers

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ?

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 16-Mar-22 15:00:00

My daughter, who has had her three vaccinations, rang me this morning to say she has COVID. She is extra miffed because was supposed to be flying to Spain tomorrow for a few days holiday. I hope she’s clear next week because I’m looking forward to attending a concert her choir is doing in London.

Auntieflo Wed 16-Mar-22 15:00:11

Apologies Mick and Annie and all, for the late signing in, but my cleaning fairy was here, much earlier. Then we went into town to meet up with a couple of friends and have a good catch up. I have ordered a pair of shoes to try, and bought some new wool so that I can be knitting again. Got back to the car and it was covered in muddy rain. It must be the Sahara sand! We had lunch and now it is quite dark and gloomy outside while I am catching up.
Lovely to read about the Glasgow GN meet up, sounded great fun.
GrandMattie, I was going to say what a couple if others have said, about going back to simple childhood meals. Tinned tomato soup, rice pudding, fish in parsley sauce etc. Recently I tried the Aldi tinned rice pudding, and it was very good, on my poor tum.
Still thinking of the mums who are going through tough times with their daughters. Prayers for you all .
Have a good day one and all.
