Radar Love.
For years I thought they were saying
and the line of cars go down in Soho

When in actual fact it was
And the line of cars go down real slow, woah

Same song,

I heard
Brandy-Lea is coming on strong

The lyrics are
Brenda Lee's coming on strong.

I'm still sure Freddie sings about pork sausages in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Haha me too. Well I always heard ‘warm sausage tea’ rather than monstrosity.

I was convinced the Police (sting) sang ‘a year has passed since I broke my nose’ in ‘message in a bottle’ it’s actually wrote my note but I only found out recently lol

My little sister Ros used to sing 'Roland Shepherd and thy sheep' (the hymn 'Loving shepherd and thy sheep), I was going out with a lad called Roland Shepherd at the time, wonder what ever happened to him?

In the hymn "Onward, Christian Soldiers my young daughter thought that the line "Christ, the Royal Master leads against the foe" was "Christ, the Royal Master leans against the phone."

If you're one of the many fighting with the lyrics
Mairzy Doats etc
and
Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy

It turns out they're deliberate homophones (look it up in Wikipedia)

I thought that too....hilarious

The song Guadalajara. I always used to think, and sing, Once in a Meadow, Oh Yes, Once in a Meadow.

Framilode Tue 22-Mar-22 11:23:43

Elaine R155 There was a version like that, we used to sing it at school:
My body lies over the ocean
My body lies over the sea
My father lies over my mother
And that's how they got little me.

grin Framilode . Haven't heard that one.

You need to look up Peter Kay, mishead lyrics on Youtube "the Tour that didn't Tour Tour". Hilarious!

Neil Sedaka had a song in the 1970 called "The Queen of 1964" My friend and I sang "nobody wants to know the red droopy now".

Only when we went to see Neil Sedaka live, and he sang the song, did we realise that the line is actually "nobody want an overaged groupie now".

In Peter Gabriel's song "Games without Frontiers" I always thought the background singers were singing "She's so popular". It turns out all my friends thought the same. However, now I know it's "Jeux sans frontiers".

Did you know that it's Kate Bush singing that bit?

I’ve just thought of another one I always misheard, in ABBA Supertrouper:
‘I was sick and tired of everything
When I called you last night from Tesco’

It’s actually Glasgow, but even now I know that I still think Tesco fits well, as that’s how I feel when I’m at the supermarket.

Knock knock knockin' on Kevin's door (Dylan/Clapton)

You'd better make way for the Mother Superior (O You Pretty Things - Bowie/Herman's Hermits)

My father, who worked in the drawing office at Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead in the 50s and 60s, always sang it as

Mersey Docks and Harbour Board
And little lambsey divey

Apparently some Scouse wag in the 1950s had scrawled the second line on a sign at the entrance to Liverpool docks.

MissAdventure Sat 02-Apr-22 13:40:39

I don't know who wrote it, but all I could think of when I heard bohemian rhapsody was "Beelzebub has a devil in the sideboard, wheeeee!" grin

Pittcity Mon 04-Apr-22 15:57:35

Did anyone watch Ant and Dec on Saturday night? They had karaoke of Karma Chameleon with Culture Club singing live. The opening line was, "Desert loving in your eyes......". I, and many others according to social media, had always thought it was, "There's a loving in your eyes...."

Audi10 Thu 07-Apr-22 18:39:52

Grandma2213 Thu 07-Apr-22 21:54:29

MissAdventure I'm glad I'm not the only one who accepted that devil in the sideboard. grin

Audi10 I always thought it was, 'I believe in Milco.'

MissAdventure Thu 07-Apr-22 22:13:15

I can never feel the same about Bohemian Rhapsody now.
