Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, hopefully the sun will pop out later. The last few sunny days have certainly lifted my spirits.
Good to read some positive news today. I hope it continues.
Novella alert!
Emboldened by my successful visit to the Glasgow meet up last week and trying to build up my confidence, I foolishly decided to go into Glasgow to pick up a couple of things. Not the best decision I have ever made.
To reassure DH, who constantly worries, I put the location tracking on my phone and promised I wouldn't overdo things!
Unfortunately it had the opposite effect, when he followed my journey.
My plan was to get an early train and be back well before lunchtime, to avoid the crowds. When I got to the end of our road, I found they were resurfacing the main road and everything was gridlocked.
Consequently, I missed two trains!!!?
It was a beautiful sunny day, so I sat, enjoying in the sunshine and reading Gransnet, waiting for the next train.
It was then that I heard an announcement, that the train, going the other way had been cancelled. Looking up at the noticeboard, I saw mine had been delayed. Five minutes later, it was cancelled. ☹
I had three choices:
Go home, where DH was on a mission, in the garden (absolutely no chance!)
Wait forty minutes for the next one, (not likely)
Drive up to the next village and catch a train, on a different line.
Off I went, sat and enjoyed sitting, watching the sheep in the fields etc and could understand, why DD wants to live here.
Just after I had managed to negotiate the steep steps to the platform, the station manager came out and shouted:
Hen, do you want your money back, this train has been CANCELLED
Drove back down the road, after checking my phone, sawthe trains were running again! I literally made it as the doors were closing, helped by a very friendly guard.
When I got to town, I only visited only three shops. The baker's to pick up DH's favourite tart, Kalu will remember his tart, which she found, when raking through my bag, to see what I had bought, before the Glesca Grannies meet up, Poundland to buy essential supplies of chocolate and a drink, (the self service till, I was using, broke ?) and Primark! After that I gave up, I was so exhausted.
I had the bright idea of using the fitting room in Primark, so that I could get a rest. There I met the kindest of assistants. She took one look at me struggling, took the basket from me, offered me a disabled changing room and instructed me to rest for as long as I wanted.
A kindness, which meant a lot to me.
After that, I decided it would be best to go home!!
I had a wee bit of time to wait for the train, so attempted the Metro crossword, which is part of my train journey routine, before settling down on the very long and empty train. I was quite enjoying myself, people watching. However, I did notice a fair number of cancelled trains, so was glad to see mine was running.
I phoned a rather perplexed DH (who had been tracking me) and assured him that I would be home in twenty minutes.
Then the train was Cancelled, it had broken down after I got on it. ?Everyone had to get back off. I was so tired ( and breathless) felt like lying down on the platform and having a strop like a toddler! ?
Another half hour wait! When I got on the next train, it was the same guard who had been on the train to town, also the broken down train and now this one back home.
She burst out laughing and said: you had better not jinx this train or you are barred!!!?
When I got off the train, I saw the guard, waving to me. She was probably ensuring, she had at last got rid of me! ?
When I arrived home, I was met by a rather worried DH. He suggested I lie down, have a rest and watch a foreign language crime film, which he had taped for me.
I settled down to enjoy, only to find, unknown to DH, that it was rather risqué, so say the least! ☺?
I actually broke the string of pearls, I had been clutching!!!?.
Poor DH was absolutely mortified, when I told him!!!!?
I resorted to watching QVC and promptly fell asleep!
I have one task today, to collect my new heart pills, which have been difficult to source.
, that is if I can actually get out onto the main road.
I wish you all the best of days and hugs for all, who are finding life problematic at the moment. ?
