Good Morning Sunday 27th March 2022
(45 Posts)Good morning from E Kent. It’s quite misty.
Went to visit DH and spent a couple of hours with him. He was still pretty miserable, but tried having soup for lunch. Apparently, that and the same for dinner, went down well. Perhaps, it’s the start of better times. I’m going again after the early service this morning.
I came home to find two boxes of flowers from my lovely family for Mothering Sunday; one from my offspring and one from DGS and his mum.
Was so tired that I had a 2 hour “nap”, yesterday afternoon. Did me good. I made some biscuits and a date slice.
I’ll potter for the rest of the day,I think. My head can’t do much more.
Enjoy the last of the sunshine and warmth today. Be content, Carpe diem. ????
Good morning, everyone, on this beautiful Mothering Sunday and best wishes to all mothers, grandmothers, godmothers and all who care for children in whatever capacity.
It’s good to know you are healing, Mick. Take care.
Thank you for updating us on your DH, grandMattie; it must be a relief to see where he is and to know he has settled with a little more appetite. Your flowers sound lovely and well deserved.
Today we pack up and head for Portsmouth in preparation for our Monday morning ferry. An early start means I might not post tomorrow.
Have a blessed Sunday! ??????
Good morning from a dry, high cloud S Hants. Sounds better Mick.
Not surprised you slept grandMattie you musty be weary, but your DH seems to be slightly improved, wishing you a peaceful Mothering Sunday.
The GC’s were a pleasure to have Friday night and are at a family friend’s now until my daughter returns today, I have school uniform to iron before I drop it over.
Just ordered some lft’s after no luck for a few days.
Pottering planned today in the greenhouse, might bung the hoover round, probably not.
Enjoy your day ??
Morning Mick, morning All. We’re promised a sunny day for our corner of Somerset, will miss the blue skies when the cloud arrives.
Yesterday passed contentedly with a mix of pottering and relaxing after Mr C’s booster and a quick top up shop. We hope to be out for a walk on a beach today after a cooked breakfast and before a ‘proper tea’.
Safe travels ash. Hope your husband is comfortable today grandmattie.
Take care everyone. Hope Sunday is as good a day as it can be.
Happy Mothering Sunday, everyone! ❤️
Good morning from an overcast Colchester.
Looks like everyone's got clock change lag. Our new smart thermostat has just turned on the boiler which I now use as my alarm! It's only forecast to reach 13° today.
DD1 and family are popping in this morning to wish me happy Mothering Sunday (as my Mum insists on calling it).
Roast chicken this evening.
Love to all ? x
Peace be with you on Mothering Sunday grandMattie
For all of us who have lost children.
Good Morning everyone from another sunny, clear morning here on the south coast. What a lovely spell of spring weather we have enjoyed!
Our trip to Brighton yesterday was informative and enjoyable in part. Enjoyable was seeing our DD and her flat, which is in a super location but in need of some decorating, new carpets etc. They will get round to it and it is perfectly liveable. Preston Park, which the flat overlooks is beautiful and will be even more so when the big rose garden blooms.
Less enjoyable was the traffic and crowds. We live a quiet life in a quiet area of a small town and have not been far in the last two years. The sheer volume of traffic and the huge numbers of people were a bit overwhelming. I could hardly believe the multitude on the marine drive. It was like a huge football crowd on steroids! But the sun was out and it was Saturday afternoon and people wanted to enjoy it so flocked to Brighton! It was too stressful for me though. So I need a quiet day today to recover.
Glad your DH is a bit more settled Mattie and you have managed to catch up on some rest.
Safe travels Ash!
Here’s Matt.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have another promising start to the day. I can see the Pennine ridge over yonder. I will spend the next couple of days converting the time back to what it ‘should be’ before we put the clocks forward!
Lunch as per with my stepfather. A drink in the bar downstairs first. He enjoys his pint and people watching. Had flowers delivered yesterday. The little family might have a drive out to Lytham beach for a couple of hours this morning. Afterwards Himself will settle down to watch the Grand Prix.
Hope you have a pleasant journey to Portsmouth and on to France tomorrow Ashcombe. How long this time?
Enjoy Sunday all who can. x
Good morning all.
A Happy Mothering Sunday to everyone.
A beautiful sunrise here in our corner of the S Welsh coast.
Took flowers to family graves yesterday morning, a picturesque spot with wild primroses flowering everywhere.
A family visit in the afternoon and cuddles with our baby dgd, looking forward to more of the same today in their house.
On Thursday night our ten week old dgd slept from 11pm until 6am, her parents didn't, typical isn't it.
Take care everyone, enjoy the sunshine.
Pressed the wrong button! Meant to add
for all Mothers today.
Take care everyone and have the best day you can.
Good Morning all from bright and dry Harrogate.
Happ Mother’s Day to mothers everywhere.
Yesterday made 40 iced buns for DGDs birthday party today. Her 6th birthday ? isn’t for a few days but today she has her school friends- not sure what the theme is, or if there is entertainment
It seems to be the trend having a lunchtime party in a village hall.
Glad you managed to get a rest yesterday, sounds like you needed it GrandMattie hope you soon have your DH home with you.
It good your face is healing Mick
Hope all the COVID sufferers are feeling better and getting negative tests soon
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, its two degrees here. There is the most amazing orange ball ? in the sky this morning, I have tried to photograph it, but the steam from the central heating boiler is getting the way!
A happy Mothers' day to all. For some this will be a bitter sweet day, so special thoughts for you.
DD is up North, DS2 is in the USA on honeymoon at Universal Studios, fulfilling his childhood dream of flying the Millennium Falcon, from Star Wars and we saw DS1 last night, who gave me some lovely gifts, including two boxes of creme eggs, so I will need to just put up with Victor Meldrew! ?
Today will be a quiet one, after yesterday's full on day. I left home to go to the meeting at 9.15 am and returned home at 5.30pm. Coffee turned into lunch, then afternoon tea! The time just flew by, reminiscing with my old school friend. Borrheid, she asked if I had any contact with you and sends her best regards.
I got home after locking up the church and and having an unexpected encounter with Dollie, ? to a text from DIL admonishing me for overdoing things and advising me not to go return to my old ways! ? Easier said than done!
We have had a request from DS2 in Florida, asking us to put out his bins and empty his mailbox. The relative tasked with the job has Covid for the second time and the rest of family nearby are on holiday abroad in the sunshine. ?
Rather than complain about it, DH has offered to take me to get compost on the way back, so I am delighted, as I have run out and need to repot some plants.
Hoping that the Covid Warriors are on the mend. Another friend from Church has caught it and DIL's parents, who live next door also have it, I think it would be wise for me to lay low for a while.
However, I was reassured by news from a friend , immunomprosed like me, after a liver transplant, who caught Covid and was fast tracked for an anti viral infusion. That intervention prevented her from becoming seriously ill.
SAR, you must be devastated at missing the Genesis Concert, we were so fortunate to see the very last one in Glasgow. I hope your DH is safely home.
Wishing you all a peaceful and enjoyable day, especially if you are spending it with family. ?
GM, be kind to yourself and safe journey Ash.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it looks like there’s another warm sunny day in store
Happy Mother’s Day to all mums and for those seeing families today, enjoy your special time together
I had a lovely day yesterday catching up with DD2 and the DGC. We enjoyed lunch out in town and afterwards a sit down in their sunny garden. Today I’m looking forward to pottering in the garden most of the day and finishing the holiday washing
Safe travels Ashcombe
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning all from Derbyshire. A cloudier and cooler day here today.
We had a fleeting visit from our youngest grandson yesterday as DS needed to collect some tools to work on his car. I don't know if he'll be visiting today or not, nothing was mentioned.
I decided yesterday to invite DD and her family for dinner today as they have been living on takeaways recently due to their house move. DH is going to the driving range with SiL and one DGS this afternoon. The other DGS is going to junior rugby this morning. Hopefully now they're back here we will go and watch him play sometime. We hear he's very good.
Hope today is a happy day for all.
Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s a chilly but bright and sunny start to the day.
Mothering Sunday and I’m helping with the teas after Mass this morning, I don’t know if we’ll have fewer people than usual. I got cards in the post from DS yesterday followed by a phone call from him, I expect DD might drop in later but I’d rather she spent the day with her brood.
Look after yourself gM.
Safe travels Ash
Have the best day possible everyone
Another glorious morning, the last for a little while I think. Church service at 9.00am so am up and doing far too early for my reluctant body clock, already resenting the missing hour.
Hope the news from grandMattie continues to be better and that everyone has good day despite the early start.
Morning all
Well it’s going to be a quiet Mothering Sunday here. DD tested positive yesterday, I have exactly the same symptoms but so far my tests are negative, I am assuming that I also have Covid and will test again in a while.
She will still come for lunch here, as we have been mixing all week, including a couple of hours before her positive test. So that’s all of us isolating from the rest of the world until next weekend.
Wishing all Mums a peaceful day full of love, and (((hugs))) to those who for whatever reason are not in contact with their children and who have lost their babies ????
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning and a Happy Mother’s Day to all ?.
It’s a bit grey and dreary her in Essex . What a shame after a week of sunshine ?.
Yesterday was lovely with DS2 an family. We went to a riverside restaurant and we’re given a pod. 7 of us and plenty of room. The 2 gd’s thought it such fun. Something a bit different. ?
They took 2 hours to get home to Hertfordshire. It should take an hour! ?.
Like you Gagagran , I find the traffic overwhelming and stressful. We don’t really travel far at weekends and the weekdays are getting as bad. Suffolk is a dream , in comparison, when we go there.
Today DS1 and family will come here for coffee and cake and Dd will come round this afternoon, after their lunch out. ❤️.
Ash - safe journey tomorrow ?
GM - I hope your Dh is feeling a bit better and your visit will find him cheerier ?.
GG I hope you are feeling on the mend ?
Sar - ?your dh is home safely and ready to tend to your every need ?
Roast lamb this evening!
Hoping you all have a gentle day ???
Good morning from Shropshire and Happy Mothering Sunday?
Yesterday’s visit to my mum went surprisingly well which is always a bonus!
Today the family are coming over and DH is cooking a roast dinner.
I’m glad to hear your DH is more comfortable GrandMattie.
Safe travels Ash and olddudders.
Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful day??
Good morning and a happy Mothering Sunday from a grey and misty Northampton. Where has the sunshine gone? Was intending on wearing a pretty dress to DD's today, but looks too chilly for it.
Had a lovely afternoon at the cinema with a friend, with a few laughs at the film, 'Phantom of The Open'. An interesting journey home as our bus broke down, but we were allowed to sit and wait on it for 25 minutes until the next one came along.
A lazy morning reading the papers until DD picks me up at lunchtime. Just noticed that Jax had managed to get some LFTs, so I went on the government website and was able to order some, after a week of being unsuccessful. That will see me through I think.
Thinking today of those mums who have lost children, and those who have lost mothers; may they be comforted.

Special thoughts today go out to all who have lost their treasured children. This is a difficult day for you all.
