Good morning. I have a bleeping washing machine too! Very snazzy. Currently waiting for a "software update" in a few weeks time. Too clever by half...
Thank you everyone for your kind words and welcome. Lovely to read posts and sorry for all those in discomfort either physical or emotional. Just after posting yesterday I was informed I had osteoporosis. I will need injections and calcium tablets. I know that many of you posting will have this condition too. I am going to post in health for advice and tips.
Going to see GCs this afternoon. Cleaning and baking this morning. Rain was forecast but no sign yet so washing on line. Went to the library yesterday and have a tower of books.
Take care all of you. x

soop Tue 12-Apr-22 15:11:12

You lovely lot have some snazzy gizmos. ixion I am very fond of the tune your washing machine treats you to. My washing machine merely sighs with relief. No tune. No thank you. A bit like Sweetie Pie our feral cat. Called for three pouches of luxury fish cat food together with a handful of best cat biscuits, lolled on the mat for twenty minutes and then, without a glance, disappeared into the forest. However, the visit put a grin on our faces.

Blossoming Keep up the good work. Your recovery will take time.

Tilly Your flowers are always a special treat. Thank you.

Yia Your treat beside the Thames sounds idyllic.

corner The cataract removal saga continues. Although Mr Soop was referred months ago to see the specialist, he has learned (five minutes ago) that the referral was in fact made at the beginning of this month. I could tear my hair out in utter frustration.

soop Tue 12-Apr-22 15:16:46

Dogsmakemesmile It is a vey good idea to ask the advice of other Gransnetters with osteoporosis. I do have a good friend with the condition. She has injections and tablets and remains very active. Best wishes.

Phone call from hospital. Mr Soop has an appointment with the eye consultant on Thursday. RESULT! Our friend will kindly drive him to the hospital. Wow! We are both so chuffed.

About to return to the latest pet portrait. I haven't managed to b*** it up so far. There's still time. hmm

Blossoming Tue 12-Apr-22 15:34:14

Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners. I have done a little housework and done my physio exercises. As is usual, they seemed slightly easier today. I’m now having a sit down and catching up on posts while Mr.B makes coffee, to be accompanied by high fibre low calorie fudge brownies, please help yourselves smile. I will have 30 minutes or so on the exercise bike before tea. I will sleep well tonight! I’m tired, but it’s not the dreadful dragging fatigue I was experiencing last week.

Jax, Tilly and our other Covid warriors hope you are better soon. Hellogirl gentle hugs for you and Lynne.

Lovely to see you back Dogs

That is shocking about the cataract referral soop. He would still be on a waiting list, but much higher up if he’d been referred at the correct time.

I have 2 things to look forward to now, tomorrow we are going for a pub lunch and catchup with BiL then Easter Sunday a family lunch at my sister’s house.

TOYA, the cake is calling grin

soop Tue 12-Apr-22 16:39:16

Blossoming Enjoy your treat.

Mr Soop has secured a lift so that he may attend the hospital regarding his cataract removals. A giant step forward. We are convinced that an earlier referral has been overlooked.

Painting progressing. Now to clear the decks and have a brew

Until we meet again. Take good care of yourselves. smile moon

Hello Soop, I am an old Gransnetterwho has rejoined after many years. I’m so glad you are still on here, and may I visit your kitchensmile As you see I have forgotten how to do emojis!

Grannyeggs Tue 12-Apr-22 16:54:00

Whoops! No I havent !!blush

Charleygirl5 Tue 12-Apr-22 16:58:33

TillyTrotter I have no idea where you live but maybe a day spent here to give me a few tips re how this machine works. I could not play with it today because I had an electrician here for 4 hours and then I decided I should attempt to fill up my freezer.

It was a very productive day because I also had my 4th booster which was Moderna for a change. I walked in, somebody kindly filled in the form for me, I was vaccinated, waited 5 minutes then home.

Tomorrow I am having my hair chopped and then I can rest over the Easter weekend. One GN member had a bad reaction after her 4th Moderna booster so I am ready for anything.
TOYA

Good afternoon lovely kitcheners, the weather is warming up yeah!

Soop so pleased your DH has his eye appointment on Thursday and he has a lift. We’ll be waiting to hear how it goes. Really looking forward to seeing that pet portrait. Enjoy the cuppa.

Sorry you had that diagnosis Dogsmakemesmile, I had that diagnosis at 50 due to undiagnosed coeliac disease. I see you have a lot of lovely advice on your thread.

Today I’ve been to visit my uncle in assisted living and took his shopping. Wow he was complaining about everything today? The government, The uk going down the nick and women causing the uk to go down the nick.?? He has special needs so I ignore him a lot of the time and change the subject but he does make me smile. Suffice to say I walked in and DH presented me with a glass of wine. He’s taking me for a curry tonight so no cooking.
Speak soon everyone ?

brook2704 Tue 12-Apr-22 17:00:41

Let’s hope that when Mr Soop sees the consultant on Thursday soop he can be fast tracked for his surgery - ?

Another lovely day here in Inverness, I’ve still got grandmabattys energy so this morning I swept and mopped the entire garage floor, cleaned and opened up the conservatory after it’s winter rest, mowed the front and back lawns, did some weeding and then dug out a dead conifer tree that was looking miserable. I also had a lovely chat with our next door neighbour who I’ve not seen for a while. I’m in now for a cuppa and I’ll have one of blossomings calorie free fudge brownies if I may …. Mmmmm yummy ..

Hoping you get some help and support for your recent diagnosis dogsmakemesmile and the treatment options are successful

I’ve also got a beeping washing machine - 3 beeps to tell me it’s done. I wish I had one that said Hello though or played music, I didn’t know you could get them like that ?

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! ? So much news to catch up on... glad to hear of people getting out and about, meeting up with friends and family. It's lovely to see you again, Dogs, be gentle with yourself.

I hope all the Kitchen Covid sufferers are on the mend, with no lasting effects. This is our second week without childcare for DGS2, their household is not yet covid free, but thankfully no one had serious symptoms. Wee DGS2 is allowed to bear his weight on his moonboot now, we have funny videos of him stomping around the house and garden. I'm so thankful for the technology to keep in touch in these difficult days. We're missing the wee family.?

I've found some of Grandmabatty's energy and started spring cleaning! Only thing is, it takes me much longer than it used to but so far I've done the living room and now I'm working on the bedrooms. One room a day!!! It's cold and rainy here in Lanarkshire so no line dried duvets today.??

Sending love and prayers to all who need/wish them, thinking especially today of Kitty's dear daughter and all who love her and care for her. TOYA, NNGB ? ??

brook2704 Tue 12-Apr-22 17:04:23

Hi grannyeggs ? I don’t think we’ve met before but lovely to see you

Enjoy your night out and your curry Shazza and well done to your DH for the wine ?

Grannmarie Tue 12-Apr-22 17:06:04

My goodness, Brook, can you bottle that energy and sell it? You'll make a fortune! I'm exhausted just reading about all your work!

Best wishes to MrSoop for his appointment.

brook2704 Tue 12-Apr-22 17:09:49

Lovely to see you Grannmarie we crossed posts I think
Hoping the family are covid free very soon and your DGS is back on his two proper feet soon!
Sounds like you’ve had a very busy day too, I’m running on grandmabattys spare energy - so kind of her to share ?

Grannmarie Tue 12-Apr-22 17:11:03

Hello? ? ? mine, best4me and granny eggs!

Grannmarie Tue 12-Apr-22 17:12:26

Thank you, Brook. ?

Grandmabatty Tue 12-Apr-22 17:23:36

Grandmabatty has had a full day of toddler wrestling so I have little energy left! I woke extremely early so was at Aldi at eight o'clock then had made leek and potato soup and iced cakes before nine. Dgs1 arrived at nine and left at half four so I think I've done my stint. Lots of fun today. I turned the couch into a slide, we played trains, blew bubbles in the garden, watched trains on YouTube and visited the fish man who was delighted to see him. Lemon sole and chips for tea and I might have a drink of something fizzy. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Jaxjacky Tue 12-Apr-22 17:49:17

What dynamic kitcheners we have today, fair put me to shame, you can send a bit of energy this way please! Still weary today with a very faint +ve, hoping Tilly and others are getting there too.
Hi Grannyeggs welcome back.
Good news for your man soop let’s hope Thursday is equally as satisfactory.
Have a gentle evening all x

brook2704 Tue 12-Apr-22 18:00:21

Here’s hoping that you’ll be testing negative tomorrow Jax and your energy levels return - but only when you’re good and ready so take it easy for a while

Sounds like a thoroughly enjoyable day with your DGS grandmabatty I hope you get a well earned rest this evening plus a glass of something fizzy

dustyangel Tue 12-Apr-22 18:08:35

So glad to see you back again Dogs.Sorry to hear about the osteoporosis but I’m sure that you are already getting lots of advice, I’ll go and have a look in a minute. DH has osteopenia for which he just has to have one tablet a day to prevent it getting any worse.

Blossoming it would be truly wonderful if you could provide a recipe for real high fibre, low calorie fudge brownies. I’m glad your wobblyness is improving.

soop so pleased that your perseverance has paid off and that Mr.s will have his cataract operation as soon as possible.

cornergran Tue 12-Apr-22 18:22:58

Hello grannyeggs. Good to see you.

That’s excellent news soop. Fingers will be crossed here on Thursday in hope of a surgery date.

Better day here, less to trip me up other than Mr C needing rescuing after a brain freeze with his credit card. Happens to us all.

Thinking Mr C, his second booster was Moderna Charley, not a side effect experienced. If it hadn’t been for the small bruise at the injection site he’d not have known it had happened.

Good luck with tomorrows test jax, no matter the outcome please rest when you need to, ideally before you need to.

Our turn for grandson entertaining tomorrow and Thursday. Hope we do as well as you grandmabatty.

Spring cleaning? Not here this week for sure. Please send energy all you cleaning folk.

kitty. How did your daughters operation go? Apologies if you’ve already said and Ive missed it.

Best be off, food time - again - can’t be collapsing from hunger grin. Look after yourselves everyone. TOYA.

Urmstongran Tue 12-Apr-22 20:35:34

‘Evening All’

We went over to mind the Boy Wonder and L’l Miss this afternoon. The pleasure spending time with these two lovelies took my mind of my anxiety (a bit). Welcome back Taichi and happy 80th birthday wishes from me. Lovely photo!
Hello grannyeggs I don’t think I ‘know’ you but I bet soop will be delighted to see your post. She makes all of us in her kitchen so welcome and cared about. It’s like putting a comfort blanket around our shoulders on days in need. kitty I’ve been thinking about you & yours today. I hope the operation went really well. x

Urmstongran Tue 12-Apr-22 20:37:51

* apologies. Taichi was on Mick’s thread. I’m at sixes and sevens today.

Nannytopsy Tue 12-Apr-22 22:20:40

Good evening everyone. It’s taken me nearly an hour to catch up, so forgive me for not commenting on everyone.
We had a lovely weekend with the family and after 14 on Saturday we had 11 for lunch on Sunday! Standing/walking and generally working played havoc with my knee and hip, so I’ve been in lots of pain since.
DGC yesterday and today. One very miserable 8 year old who now has chicken pox. He had 379 spot when we picked them up. He really hasn’t been well, poor lamb and kept grandpa awake for most of last night. As a result I am already in bed, ready for a packing frenzy tomorrow. We have to finish clearing our bedroom too, as we go on holiday on Thursday and the decorator arrives!
Sleep tight everyone.

soop Wed 13-Apr-22 17:06:38

Dear Grannyeggs Welcome back to our kitchen.

Today has been a tad frustrating. I have managed to spoil the pet portrait that I had high hopes for. It's been under the shower. Sometimes it helps. Sometimes it doesn't. I have now mounted the previous pet portrait and it will be posted tomorrow. I have to pack it with great care. My next task of the afternoon.

A photo to share with you.

So sorry that I cannot linger longer today. I shall have more time tomorrow. Mr Soop will also be seeing the consultant. A pal will be taking him into Campbeltown.

I will do better tomorrow. that's a promise. TOYA smile moon
