Eco mob chaos

I see the eco idiots are at it again. Ten more days of chaos and hardship for the rest of us. Haven’t we all suffered enough? Why are the government and police not arresting them and getting them out of the way so that law abiding citizens can get on with their lives?
It seems to me that authorities are running scared of anyone shouting civil liberties. I’d like them all to be arrested for crimes against the state ie us.
What do you all think?

Lisa Simpson’s take on electric cars

I am all for climate activism. I understand that mass arrests form part of their campaign tactics. I do worry for young people getting a police record though.

I'd like to see 'you lot' arrested (not being one of your 'us') for crimes against the environment - I really would. You don't have any given right to go around polluting the air we breathe!

Lisa Simpson’s take on electric cars

Oh good, I base all my decisions about the future on misleading photoshopped pictures of cartoon characters.

Hetty58 Tue 12-Apr-22 17:21:06

'the future' - being the rather important matter of slowing of the destruction of our planet.

Still, some people say 'I think we all need a nice summer '. I despair, I really do. Why don't they worry about their grandchildren?

volver Tue 12-Apr-22 17:26:21

Oh, and by the way - somebody needs to tell Lisa that batteries store chemical energy, not electricity.

I'd have thought she would have known that.

volver I posted it as a funny not as a scientific paper on green energy.

Yes, of course you did.

It wasn't about influencing the debate at all.

Silly me. I'm getting so much wrong today.

Come on volver you know I am in favour of green energy and increasing R & D in all things green.

What I am against are the folks who are now due to them blocking the fuel depot 5miles up the road, stopping Doctors, Nurses, District Nurses and other emergency service workers obtaining fuel, and thereby making their working life difficult which could be a matter of life and death.

volver Tue 12-Apr-22 17:47:27

Actually I don't think they are going about it the right way either.

But I don't go around calling them names (not what you're doing, I know) or posting random cartoons that undermine their case anyway.

What if we look at this from a different angle?

Would you have said the same about the Suffragettes? Disruption was also their tool. I am sorry to say I think I would have been very torn. But would I want not to have the vote? Absolutely not.

Perhaps the disruption is the price we have to pay until everyone is moving at a faster pace and demanding governments do more. If we could see we are making a real difference, there would be less reason for the disruption ... wouldn't there?

Re older houses, which is much of the UK housing stock.
Our house is not new and we costed up wall insulation, double glazing and loft insulation. If the taxpayers are willing to give me help towards the over £20,000 quoted then I’d be really appreciative as would my neighbours, friends and family in varying housing types. I’m sure it would benefit both us and the climate to have it done.
We’re taxpayers, so we would be helping towards the cost ourselves.

I particularly condemn the Oil protest because the government policy is to reduce oil consumption radically, the UK leads the world in Green Energy adoption.
Taxes and borrowings are at an all time high we are doing a lot more than most other countries.

volver Wed 13-Apr-22 07:30:58

If the plan is to reduce oil production radically, why are they allowing Cambo and providing more licences for offshore exploration in the North Sea?

And the UK isn't leading the world in Green Energy adoption. That would be China smile.

volver Wed 13-Apr-22 07:41:33

Sorry - oil consumption, not production.

Allsorts Wed 13-Apr-22 07:52:46

Selfish lot. Ordinary people trying to earn a living.,they should be heavily fined and made to clean up their mess, when that’s done get a job. They are causing mayhem. Go petition in China l

That would be why China is still building coal fired power stations!

China certainly manufactures much of the technology for green energy using coal for power.

Oh don't think I'm admiring China for what they do. But while we're sitting around telling us how well they are doing the Chinese are actually getting on with it and taking global leadership. Which we should be aware is not good for us or the world in general.

volver Wed 13-Apr-22 09:05:07

Well that didn't make sense blush.

..telling ourselves how well we are doing...

China still relies on 65% of its energy from coal, around 10% from wind and solar combined and hardly any nuclear, hydro being the big renewable.

China plans to keep increasing its emissions for another decade, hardly great leadership

volver Wed 13-Apr-22 11:18:43

Hardly any nuclear?

They're not that daft then.
