Good morning from a grey E Kent. No rain though.
Jersey Royals! They take me back 40 years when we lived there. Surprisingly, They were more expensive in Jersey than on the mainland.
DH had a good day, staying awake most of the day. We even went to visit DD and family at their airB&B in Deal. He had a little walk along the seafront. His first outing other than hospital appointments etc., in nearly 6 weeks. It wore him out, but he did enjoy it.
The girls loved their spa treatment, their nails are discreet, but patterned and look lovely. The facial was a great success.
Today, goodbyes as the family heads back to Bristol.
Finally, the consultant will call, though we don’t know what time. Bed change today. I’ll probably dry the washing outside if the easterly wind isn’t too chilly.
Hope everyone has a gentle day. ????☀️?☀️☀️?

Here’s Matt.

Good morning Mick and everyone to follow. It’s dry here in south Manchester and almost sunrise. I’m up yet again before the alarm but you can bet your bottom dollar if I didn’t set it I’d sleep in! It must register in my subconscious.

Last day of school drop off & pickup. We let them scooter to school yesterday in the sunshine - they loved it as usually they’re dropped off at their childminder by mum at 7:30am. She is so organised in a morning - has to be really working full time at another school in Trafford.

Other than that no plans. I hear that Terminal 3 is reopening today at Manchester airport after a huge upgrade. I’m hoping it helps ameliorate the queues we’ve seen in the newspapers when we set off tomorrow!

Enjoy Friday all who can. Best wishes to all our poorly grans or grans with poorly family to worry about or look after. x

? grandMattie we both gave the birds a shake it seems.

Pantglas2 Fri 22-Apr-22 06:17:33

Ooh Mick - Jersey Royals ? dripping with salted crystal butter.....? talk about comfort food ?

It’s dry and light here in north Wales and I’m hoping for another glorious day so that bedding can be changed, kindly get my order for ? ready please at the weatherbarn, Laura

Belated birthday greetings to Blue Sapphire and ?? any other celebrations I’ve missed this week! I don’t always post but generally read at the end of every day, catching up with your delights and sadly, disappointments, ?

I was meant to have a curry and sleep over with a friend but her daughter has tested positive and I don’t want to risk catching anything between now and my auntie’s funeral next week so I’ve declined - needs must.

Crumpets this morning in honour of missing members as its Friday and she’s not here either?

Urmstongran Fri 22-Apr-22 06:20:30

Remember the days when Jerseys were kidney shaped? I’m sure mum used to say they were grown under cover of seaweed?

monk08 Fri 22-Apr-22 06:33:01

Good morning all from the Black country.
Mick the thought of Jersey royals made my mouth water dripping in butter they're the only potatoes that I enjoy and will eat.
Up early today DH has very early cardio appt to get his dongle changed. We shall go to garden centre afterwards for breakfast.
Over to our friends in Redditch this evening.
Glad you had a nice day yesterday granMattie and so nice to hear of your DHs walk along the front.
Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some ?.

Gagagran Fri 22-Apr-22 06:35:01

Good Morning everyone from a clear and bright south coast 9.5c.

I had a very enjoyable coffee morning with WI chums yesterday at a cafe staffed by Downs youngsters who do a sterling job. They had decked the whole café out ready for the Jubilee and the Queen's birthday and it felt celebratory and joyous. We had a lovely time.

Today is the highlight of the week as DS is coming to eat with us after his latest motorbike training day in the south. I love having him to ourselves for a bit, much as we love our DiL and his lovely girls.

Good news from grandMattie and hopefully more to come. The stress must have been dialled down a bit seeing DH's improvement yesterday.

Sending kindest regards to all with worries and health issues of their own or loved ones. Especially to Marydoll flowers

Have a good day everyone sunshine

Good morning everyone, its a bit grey and dull here in Essex by the sea.
An early haircut for me today. I've left it a couple of weeks later than usual so that I could have it done just before our holiday.
Good to hear that your DH managed a walk yesterday GM ?.
Have a fabulous Friday everyone xx

NannyJan53 Fri 22-Apr-22 06:53:34

Good morning from a cloudy Black Country.

Over to DD’s today to look after the girls. DD is in school today to prepare for next week. So I am am taking them for lunch, then to the cinema.

Tonight we are out meeting friends at a Foo Fighters tribute gig, so a busy day.

Wishing you all a lovely day

grandMattie Fri 22-Apr-22 07:02:41

Urms, Jersey Royals are definitely grown under seaweed. It was the most commonly used fertiliser on the island. I remember horse drawn carts coming from beaches after storms, loaded with the stuff.

Grammaretto Fri 22-Apr-22 07:07:40

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where another dry day is forecast.
Friday is usually fish and chips for supper but I am now tempted by Jersey royals Mick
I have nagged threatened the electrician who has promised to finish the kitchen work this weekend.
Meanwhile, I must dust this bedroom!
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

Gingster Fri 22-Apr-22 07:13:08

Good morning and yes Sar it’s rather overcast here in Essex.
It would be good to have some rain but I don’t think it’s forecast.

Today we’ll meet our usual Friday pals for lunch . We haven’t seen them for a few weeks for one reason or another, so it will be lovely to catch up. One of our group (the youngest and fittest) had a stroke about 6 weeks ago, so I need to find out how she’s progressing. I’ve left messages for her but nothing back as yet.

DD had her second immunotherapy infusion yesterday so I hope she’s had a good night. I’ll see her later.

I haven’t managed to get Jersey Royals yet . Love em!

I finished binge-watching The Split yesterday. Really enjoyed it and loved all the characters. Made me cry! It’s a shame it’s the last series.

I hope you all have a ‘good’ day ???

kittylester Fri 22-Apr-22 07:18:04

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

Our cleaner is coming this morning and we are off to take 2 DGC off DD1's hands for a while. We are going to a farm shop for lunch. DGS3's choice as, at long last, his taste buds have returned to normal post covid. It has only taken 6 months.

Sending love and support to everyone.

brook2704 Fri 22-Apr-22 07:20:02

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a grey and misty start to the day
So pleased your DH had a better day yesterday GM and safe travel home to your DD and family
I’m off to the gym later for the Aqua class and then I’ll get a pop along to the shops for a bit of food shopping for the weekend
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 22-Apr-22 07:22:23

Morning Mick and all

Yep it’s grey in S E Essex

Another vote for Jersey Royals along with English Asparagus, this is my favourite food season.

We have The Imp today, so I have no idea what we shall be up to?

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Grandmajean Fri 22-Apr-22 07:26:10

Good morning from Cheshire
No sun today.
Will pick up two youngest GC from school today and bring them here for tea. Granddad has a new book to read to them.
They would spend all their time on electronic devices so we have a rule that they first have a chapter of a story.
They always enjoy it.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 22-Apr-22 07:26:39

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Who knows what the weather is like as I haven’t looked. Son, partner and my granddaughter are coming for the weekend. They won’t be arriving until early evening as they can’t leave London until granddaughter has finished school. I am getting up soon to take my weekly alendronic acid tablet. I will make a pavlova this morning. I made a batch of caramel ice cream the other day so have a load of egg whites over after making a six egg yolk custard. OH is going to a shooting range this afternoon so I may have a bit of a tidy up. Actually I haven’t typed up the notes from Wednesday’s WI meeting, so maybe I’ll do that.

dragonfly46 Fri 22-Apr-22 07:40:14

Good morning from an overcast Leicestershire.

Spent all afternoon trying to sort out the mower but now sent for new parts. Made me realise, having spent so long on my knees that I am not as young as I was.

Going into town for coffee first as DH has a blood test then walking with friends to the local bluebell wood. I hope the sun comes out.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 22-Apr-22 07:43:56

Good morning everyone from a dull, chilly and breezy Oxfordshire.
Bed changing today, had another couple of rough days and spent most of yesterday morning in bed, then suddenly felt full of energy and helped MrOops put up a row of Runner Bean sticks, a bit too early here to plant any out, but at least the sticks are up. Also planted the sweet pea seeds.
Have a good day everyone, pleased that Granmatties DH is able to get up and about.
Hugs to those who aren’t feeling too good today.

Grandmadinosaur Fri 22-Apr-22 07:44:15

Good morning all from a blue sky here in East Yorkshire.

Today DH is having a day off. I think he’s planning to do so regularly after his recent health issues. So we are going to spend the day at Bridlington. I’m looking forward to fish and chips you can’t beat them at the seaside!
We booked a last minute holiday last night. If I get a new date for my procedure on my foot it’s expected to be towards the end of May. I will be out out of action for 6 weeks so getting it in before then. Also DH needs a break too. So Ibiza it is. Can’t wait we go the week after next.

Hope you had a nice day out Shazza haven’t been to Lincoln for a long time.

A much better day for you GM hope it continues ?

Take care everyone.

BlueSapphire Fri 22-Apr-22 07:44:34

Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton. Looks a bit windy too.

Didn't walk yesterday evening as my friend who gives me a lift felt unwell; but to make up for missing the walk I decided to walk back from the surgery yesterday afternoon instead, which took me nearly an hour. The nurse said my blood pressure reading was spot on which was good news, especially as I'd gone there straight from my ballet class!

Hairdressers appointment late morning, and will pop to Sainsbury's afterwards to pick up a chicken and a few goodies for when the DGDs come tomorrow.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Jaxjacky Fri 22-Apr-22 07:45:27

Good morning from S Hants with high cloud.
A better day for you both grandMattie.
Bit of admin to do today, watering later as we have no rain forecast, so much for April showers.
aggie MrJ returned from his fathers funeral in Belfast last year with his cap.
Enjoy Friday all ??

Pittcity Fri 22-Apr-22 07:51:47

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Looks like rain clouds are gathering though. The garden could use it but I can happy without.
A supermarket shop this morning and hairdresser this afternoon. We are off to a black tie do this evening and my long dress still fits...hurrah!!! Another bonus of living in town is that the venue is 20 minutes walk away. We may still need a lift from DS if it is raining though.
Love to all ? x

Susan56 Fri 22-Apr-22 07:54:45

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday was a lovely day.DH and DGD got all the seeds planted in the veg plot before we took her home for her play date.Overnight rain would be good now save carting watering cans down the garden every evening.

Today laundry and admin for me and sorting the tomato seeds in the greenhouse for DH.Later we are meeting DD1 and children at the garden centre.

We are really fancying Jersey Royals too now!

Lovely to hear your DH managed a walk GrandMattie.

Thoughts with all unwell and wishing everyone a good day??
