Would you "come back' as a man?

Assuming the option was available?

SueDonim Tue 03-May-22 16:51:17

No, I wouldn’t want to be a man. I wouldn’t have minded being my brother, though. My mum preferred boys plus he’s sailed through life without ever worrying about anything. I think the latter is more about character than sex, though.

Absolute no way hosay.

I like the fact I am a woman, can do 1,000000 things at the same time, can perceive situations/people before all is revealed and a VAST amount of other boxes that have a huge tick in them.

Good Lord no.
Absolutely No!

Honeysuckleberries Tue 03-May-22 22:28:25

No I would come back as my cat.

So happy to be a woman but climbed trees and built dens with male school friends around the age of 10. Both dad’s were engineers and step dad taught me welding and car repairs. I am thoroughly female and love dressing up but not today’s plumped up lips.

Well, I'm currently doing the woman thing so, yes, I would come back as a man, just for a change. Why not? I'd have long hair though, can't abide the shaved head look. Might also have an earring, just for fun. The dangly bits wouldn't bother me. I'd wear tight pants, not boxers. Boxers under trousers? Weird. Oh, and I'd resemble a young Rafa Nadal. That should be fun.

We could get together and men mates.
Have a few beers and a game of pool? smile

As, not and.

Ive always hated being a woman and definitely think we get the dirty end of the stick. Periods. childbirth, menopause and all that horrible, messy painful stuff. Men have nothing like that to put up with.

It’s a man’s world as the song goes and although I am very comfortable being a woman it would be interesting to know what it’s like to be a man.

I don't want to "come back" as anything except, perhaps, a pampered cat.

Missingmoominmama Wed 04-May-22 11:44:52

I can’t multitask, but like being a woman who does what she wants. My friends were, and still are, both male and female, and I honestly don’t see much difference in attitudes, but that’s maybe because our interests are similar.

I wouldn’t like to have missed out on giving birth though.

Can I turn this on its head? I am a bearded man who is not especially macho, but never in a million years would I consider coming back as a woman. The dangly bits, for info, are more comfy if they can swing in baggy boxers rather than being constrained in tight, over warm Y fronts but otherwise, once one has passed through the just as awkward for boys as girls teenage puberty time, hang comfortably out the way, but not having to consider emotions and ignoring, or mostly not even noticing, upsetting things, frees one to concentrate on the important things in life, mostly one’s career,

I have been lucky in my choice of wife and, mostly, my children and GC but my choice of career was many times more significant than anything else in my life and, now I am retired, am ok but a bit lost. I think this might be the biggest actual difference, the investment of everything meaningful into a career rather than any emotional way of being.

The way the world is going, I think in 20 years or less the sexes will merge. We’ve come a long way since Emily Pankhurst.
Yes you are born male or female but lets face it you can change your gender already, causing sometimes a multitude of problems, but the world is changing. For the better?
But yes, I’m happy being a woman, maybe ‘being’ a man for a few days would be an insight .
It’s probably already been done on some Tv show…
Maybe in schools they should have a ‘switch gender day’
Well there’s a day for everything else isn’t there…

No thank you

leeds22 Wed 04-May-22 11:53:08

Definitely. Never a girlie girl, climbed trees, hated dolls, hated wearing skirts, rounded up the cows, totally envied boys. Heaven knows how I managed to find two husbands.

Bazza Wed 04-May-22 11:54:03

Good grief no!! The female of the species is far superior in every way except brute strength. My husband totally agrees with me, and not just because I say so!

Madashell Wed 04-May-22 12:00:22

All I can say is that this is a world dedicated to and run by men despite the pretence otherwise. I think being any sort of human being can be pretty tough.

Violettham Wed 04-May-22 12:01:29

No I am very lucky always had nice men in my life

Philippa111 Wed 04-May-22 12:04:24

Why on earth would I want to be a man? I love being a woman. I am emotionally aware, nurturing, compassionate, have excellent communication skills, wonderful friends who I can share deeply with, enjoy sisterhood. I see men as being rather isolated in their (false) sense of superiority , their sense of entitlement and need for power, mostly out of touch with their feelings, competitive, etc. Lets face it, it's men who create wars with their huge egos and need to dominate! Most women can negotiate and be collaborative rather than making war!

songstress60 Wed 04-May-22 12:24:15

Yes men have it easier. No periods, no pregnancies, no menopause. They come out better in a divorce. A great many medical conditions are experienced more by women like MS and dementia. They are mollycoddled in a divorce by people whereas a divorced woman is treated like a pariah by other woman. Men have it much easier.

grandtanteJE65 Wed 04-May-22 13:07:51

I have always been happy to be first a girl and later a woman.

I assume if we do come back, there is a reasonable chance that we will be just as content as the opposite sex if that is the option we get.

If the choice was or is mine, I would be a man on condition that I would grow up to be a Jesuit priest, otherwise no, thank you.

Next time round as a woman I would like to be the mother of a large family, not just of one child.

But actually the option of coming back once or twice as a cat is very appealing.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 04-May-22 13:14:14

Well, my parents were so disappointed when I arrived, they were determined I would be boy. I tried very hard to 'be a boy' to please them, but that didn't work (I lacked the crucial equipment). Now, I am happy as I am - a woman!
