Has anyone else heard this? It’s absolutely brilliant it’s sung by a sexy long haired man called Sam Ryder. I can’t wait as I love Eurovision even the political voting. Does anyone else like Eurovision?

Nagmad2016 Thu 12-May-22 11:59:56

I like it too. Makes a change to have a decent song entered. The trouble is, it's one of those songs that stay in your head for a week or so.....Hope it does well, just a bit of fun.

It could be best song out there we still won’t win lol it’s being 25yrs since we have. And I don’t think Euro like us anyway. ??

Beautiful songs don't seem to win any more. It's all about politics and who looks the most outrageous.

Sadly, you might be right.

There was a beautiful song that won several years ago. I didn’t like it at the time but in retrospect it was the best song and I love it now.

MayBee70 Thu 12-May-22 12:12:52

It was the one that won in 2019. And Heroes from 2015 was fabulous.

I used to enjoy it in the old days when voting was based on the song not the country and juries had to literally phone in their vote and things always went wrong.

Now it's too political, there is an unwieldy number of countries involved and the general production is too slick and bland.

I have watched Eurovision since we got a TV . I remember back to years ago when Sandi Shaw won. My daughter for years had Eurovision parties, in fact the Parties started at about 3pm on the day. I used to love helping her do the shopping and preparing the food for them. They still have parties just with fewer people now.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 12-May-22 12:29:37

Hate the programme. I admit to watching it in the 60s and 70s when there wasn’t much else on and from the snippets I’ve heard of songs in recent years I think the standard then was much better.

I have heard on radio that Ukraine will win. Haven't heard their entry so can't comment. Are people wanting Ukraine to win due to the awful situation the country is in or is it a genuinely fantastic entry? UK is much better than usual.

Bazza Thu 12-May-22 12:41:50

I haven’t watched it since Sandy Shaw won.

MissAdventure Thu 12-May-22 12:42:09

Well, if we assume that the Ukrainian entry will win, then we'll have to look for our expectations for second place.

Luckygirl3 Thu 12-May-22 12:42:28

It is well written and well performed - reminds me of Elton John. The video is total rubbish.

I never watch Eurovision as the songs are usually the dregs, but I think ours is a good contribution.

jenni123 Thu 12-May-22 12:55:10

Used to watch it many years ago, now never watch it. It is awful.

Sawsage2 Thu 12-May-22 12:56:29

I like it, it's different.

Mallin Thu 12-May-22 13:02:11

It’s not been the same since Terry Wogan went.

MissAdventure Thu 12-May-22 13:03:04

I loved sir Tel.

Ilovedragonflies Thu 12-May-22 13:33:13

Oh! I may just watch it this year as I love our entry (thank you for posting a link). I'm prepared to yell at the screen when nobody votes for us!

HannahLoisLuke Thu 12-May-22 14:09:11

Aveline

I'm sure he's good but I just want Ukraine to win!

I think a lot if people want that. But, the winner hosts the show the following year. Can you imagine Ukraine being able to do that?

It's due to their situation. I hope they win. But I have to say that the song is not my favourite! The beginning is OK but it seems to lose its way. To be honest I think it's awful. But I feel so bad for saying that.

Lots of media commenting that the UK will do well. Not sure why they think that but I hope they're right. And yes, Our entry is much better than we've had in recent years.

Treetops05 Thu 12-May-22 15:35:13

It used to be a great evening, but now with political voting it has become a totally pointless, expensive exercise.

kissngate Thu 12-May-22 15:38:22

Love Eurovision so does DD. We used to score each entry separately then pick our top 3. Happy memories. Will be watching on Saturday.

grandtanteJE65 Thu 12-May-22 15:42:39

I shan't bother to watch the rest of the competition. We watched the other evening - what a waste of time!

Very few contenders could actually sing, if there was any message in their texts we couldn't hear the words, and the music was either characterless or sounded like something we had heard before.

Admittedly, there were fewer young women dressed like porn actresses, this year, but the French were dressed like the more boring kind of primary school teacher and most of the rest looked as if they had upended the dirty-clothes basket and put on whatever was least dirty.

The Danish girls were appalling - if they had dressed deliberately in an androgyn style there would have been some point, at least to the young sub-culture that finds gender unimportant. As it were they had for some obscure reason put on garments that made the worst of their none existent figures. Nor, of course, could they sing, move properly on stage or justify their artistic careers in any other way.

The Swiss lad could sing, so could the Greek girl and the Ukrainians sang reasonably and had bothered to employ a cheorgraph.
What the other entrants thought they were doing I do not know, it assuredly was not entertainment.

MissAdventure Thu 12-May-22 15:54:30

Something to look forward to, then? grin

Foxyferret Thu 12-May-22 20:10:15

We could have the best singer and the best singer but we still won’t win, too political, no one likes us. I don’t know why we still enter.

Zoejory Thu 12-May-22 20:23:55

They like this song, Foxyferret! I believe it's second favourite now.

We shall see.

But if we don't do well, not to worry, as my children's teachers always said, it's the taking part that counts

Joseanne Thu 12-May-22 20:38:40

but the French were dressed like the more boring kind of primary school teacher
That made me laugh being a primary school teacher, though I can't sing a note! grin
The French singers are Breton and the costumes are in the traditional style .... Black with orange/yellow embroidery or braid.
