When a friend visited recently she commented on the number of photographs I have on display in my sitting room - 15. The majority of myself and my late DH on various holidays and special occasions (1 is of our wedding) the rest are of family. Got me wondering how many photos others have on display.

None in the living room I have 3 large prints semi abstract on one wall ,a large mirror on the facing wall and three frames with Album covers beside the mirror .I can change them often because they just flip open so I have an unending supply of covers .
I do have photos of the Kids when they were kids upstairs and of the GC

12, but right on top of the bookcases, so not intrusive.I change them as and when the DGs change and we have special times

2 in the living room - one of son's wedding with all the family on it, the other one frame with several photos which was a present from our daughter. None anywhere else, though had better find a frame for one of the new GD to keep things even.

I have them up so the GC's can see that they belong here too as it's a new house for us.

I have a mixture. All our rooms are full of paintings I have painted over the last 28 years. They start from the grandchildren when they were babies, then involved in various activities like painting in the garden or sailing little boats on a lake etc. Paintings of them dressed in school uniform as they grew into teenager etc etc. Then as adults . Paintings of my daughters and dh. Family dogs. Photos are to be found in various places and old photos of my parents when they were young. my grandfather in his army uniform ready to fight in the Somme, etc etc. They are to be found as you go up the stairs together with paintings of holiday places, flowers. Then there are the girl friends!! Too much I can hear you say but every painting means something to us. Then my family and friends have my paintings on their walls. In fact I sound a bit of a menace.

I used to have my dining room court cupboard covered in framed photographs - from my parents in wartime uniforms to both DDs wedding pictures, but they were such a hassle to move to dust that I took them all down and much prefer the uncluttered look. I have a small picture of both DGS on my desk and a framed photograph of my late DH meeting The Queen.

Oldwoman70 and Aveline I also have paintings. My father passed recently so I have 2 photos up/out, one at my parents wedding.

Mostly seascapes and place I love, the art I mean.

Lupatria Mon 16-May-22 11:36:32

two photos in my bedroom - both graduation photos of my son's and my graduations.
i did have wedding photos up in my lounge for my son and my daughter but these have been taken down as bth marriages have broken down.
i have a digital photo frame in my dining room but it's decided to turn itself off.
i have prints on my walls plus several of my cross stitches and the most important frame contains my degree certificate - i was awarded my degree as an adult student at 48 and i'm very proud of it.

Got a shock when I counted up - 25. They are all of family, friends and our cats - some long departed. Have no family nearby apart from DH. Helps me feel closer to people and as DH has Alzheimers disease they are useful when it comes to reminding him who everyone is as he's forgetting people at an alarming rate.

SillyNanny321 Mon 16-May-22 11:38:56

If I count all then 51 but a lot of those are collages, mostly my DGC but also several of my cats over the years. Probably totally insane but dont care as its only me & my cat here now!

Many framed photos of family members who I haven’t seen for years especially great grand children on bookcase and mantelpiece. Walls covered with my late husbands watercolours mainly of scenes in France and my crossstitch pictures. I have cupboards of many albums dating from 1946 and including photo of my grandmother aged 16 in 1880. myself aged 3 months and two years old, etc. Grandchildren and great grandchildren . Drawer full of hundreds of slides taken at home and travels of abroad.

GrammarGrandma Mon 16-May-22 11:56:16

None in the living room but about a dozen on the piano and music cabinet. Three in the kitchen. Seven in each of our studies. One in the bedroom.

GagaJo Mon 16-May-22 11:56:31

None. Don't like photographs as 'art'. Do have footprints of DGS as a baby and toddler on my bedroom wall. On brown paper, fitting in with the current trend of natural materials.

Nannapat1 Mon 16-May-22 12:00:09

14, all in the dining room mostly of DGD1. Need to swap some for pics of DGD2! Photography is my hobby and I take hundreds of pics, mostly nature based and the vast majority only exist digitally!
I have found that on the whole I prefer photographic art to paintings.

crazyH Mon 16-May-22 12:05:15

Bluebelle you must have a huge living room !!!

shysal Mon 16-May-22 12:06:40

13 in my living room, carefully selected so that each GC appears in an equal number, some in groups and some singly, none of them very recent. I must confess that the dresser is rather crowded, but I don't care what anyone else thinks.

FindingNemo15 Mon 16-May-22 12:13:40

None.

Alioop Mon 16-May-22 12:32:09

Four small ones in different rooms, two are of myself with my late mum and the others are of her with my dogs I had then.

sazz1 Mon 16-May-22 12:32:12

None in the living room but loads on my bedroom walls of DGC

Lyndie Mon 16-May-22 12:33:48

None. I have all my photos on my phone. They are very current. My family send photos of what they have bought, where they have been, on a regular basis. I get photos of their pets. Videos of grandchildren dancing or bicycle riding. I much prefer this to actual pictures in a frame. They need dusting!

Hellsbelles Mon 16-May-22 12:35:07

3 all grandchildren . However I'll admit they become rather like ornaments, something that sits on a shelf and doesn't often get looked at .
