Do you iron tea towels

I have holiday cottage bed linen to iron so if that's out I iron my tea towels - they look so much nicer. Otherwise - no!

I’m with you there, love an ironed tea towel. I suspect it’s better for drying if they are not ironed though. Also always iron cotton pillow slips but have given up all other ironing in favour of ‘flat packing’ instead. Won’t buy clothes that need an iron either.

I have an elderly relative who used to iron towels and terry-towelling nappies.... As well as socks & underpants..... Even as a child, I could see that this was overdoing it.

I dont iron tea towels. I dont iron as much as I used to - just a few things now. I fold everything 'Marie Kondo' style so not much needs ironing.

Like others here, I iron as little as possible. I certainly wouldn't iron tea towels. My mother used to and I remember asking her why once, and she said that they go in the drawer better. I do iron hankies though I rarely use them.

I never iron I hate it, OH does his own and asks me if I have anything to be done.

I iron as little as possible and that includes pillow cases and the odd shirt or trousers belonging to DH or myself.
When our boys started Seconday school I taught them to iron their school shirts, otherwise I would end up with (including their Dad's) twenty shirts to iron each week.
I thought no way and it has served us all well.

The ironing board came out on Saturday morning for the lads to iron shirts. I trained them well. We were all going to a family wedding. I can't remember the last time the iron was used. So no I don't iron much.

That's the thing about ironing BlueBalou, you can think your own thoughts a bit like having a do not disturb sign! Important job in progress.

I actually quite like ironing, there’s something satisfying about a pile of ironed clothes (I only do mine) and yes, that includes tea towels.
I also iron bedding, I love getting into a bed with air dried, ironed linen.
I have the time too, listen to a podcast, audiobook or the radio while I do it.

I make sure we look presentable if we are going out. I iron DH's shirts and trousers and any of my clothes that need it.

I usually tumble dry sheets, towels and tea towels and fold them when they are still warm. They flatten themselves with the residual warmth.

Tea towels are about the only thing I regularly iron. I only wash them at 30 degrees and use a laundry disinfectant and I think a hot iron will kill off any germs that have survived.

I change mine twice a day, no ironing of tea towels here.

I remember crying when I was newly married because DH had to wear collar detached shirts for work and they had to be just right. The collars had to be starched with Robin starch and I used to then singe them when I tried to iron them.
I also had no clue how to iron a shirt.
DH took them to the Chinese laundry where they did a perfect job.

I don’t iron them but I’m a bit obsessive in the way I wash them. For some reason I get through a lot of tea towels. I don’t know why because I leave most things to drain so they don’t get wet. It’s probably because I tend to leave them lying around and I don’t have a specific place in the kitchen to hang them. And I used to have cats that used to climb all over the kitchen units.I wash them separately, tumble dry them a bit to get the creases out then dry them indoors. I don’t like putting them on the washing line because of birds perching on it and I can’t be bothered to clean it before I hang them out. I then fold them very carefully and put them in the tea towel drawer. I’m not at all fussy about other things so I don’t know why I’m so careful about tea towels. I do remember watching Tomorrows World when I was quite young. They did an experiment that showed that it was more hygienic to leave crockery to drain dry than to use a tea towel that wasn’t very clean. It must have left an impression on my young self!

Yes I iron tea towels and my OHs boxer shorts. I don’t have to but I like to see them crisp and ironed when I put them away and he says they feel better. I don’t mind ironing as it’s a chance to catch up on Gardener’s World or whatever on the TV whilst I’m at it. Yes definitely a bit barmy!

'Fraid so. You are mad. If you hang them on the line when wet they will dry flat and all you have to do is fold them.

Most of my clothes are linen and when they come out of the washing machine - still a bit wet, I put them on hangers on the line and they dry beautifully. Not as crease free as if I'd ironed them but who cares?

I used to absolutely hate ironing when I worked full time and was a single parent with 2 children. There were always non essential items left in the basket! Now, I quite like it, no rush, listening to music - chilled!

Yes I iron tea towels. They lie flat in the drawer and are easier to use when not crumpled. I enjoy ironing anyway.

I iron the cotton ones if they’re creased, but I’ve cut down on ironing recently and fold those items before putting in airing cupboard. I always iron bedding, unless it’s dried in the sun & breeze on the washing line, smelling off fresh air.
My OH always used to say ‘my body heat will take out the creases’! ?. Well, that didn’t work. ?

When doing ironing for my mum, when I was young, I did iron tea towels and quite liked doing it.
As an adult, tho, I iron as little as possible which has meant nothing at all for the last few years.

If you like ironing, though, why ever not?
