Hello!
Following on from Audi’s thread…
A poster asked ‘what should we wear?’
So is your answer?
It’s also left me really nosily wondering what posters look like.
Do you follow your ‘seasonal’ rules when it comes to colours?
And who would you like to look like?
Who are your style icons?
(And please don’t do yourself down!)
Thank you x
Blossoming

I also don’t have a style icon, I tend to dress for me and don’t cope anyone elses style!
Ha, Blossoming, Crocs! I have some, but they are relegated to the back door step for the back yard only!
Today I am wearing a typical outfit for me. Olive green cargos, breton style top, black Asic trainers, and a vest (gillet) on standby for temp fluctuations. Cargos are swapped out for straight leg jeans, and either light sweater or t-shirt and cardigan.
I've always loved a dark red shoe, boot or sandal. I have burgundy Blundstones that get me through winter with my mostly navy wardrobe. I had some dark red Keen sandals that sadly have worn out, but now live in Birkenstock for summer.
Boring, yes. But I do clean up nicely when needed. Style icon would be Julia-Louise Dreyfus. She is always very polished and classic, but if photographed casually, she is in jeans and t-shirt with jacket.
My style nightmare would be animal print with crocs.
I love cargos CanadianGran, they fulfill one of my main clothing requirements - pockets! As you say, perfect with a Breton top.
I love jeans and boots, midi length dresses and white trainers, denim jackets etc. Also channelling my inner hippy! I love black, navy, blue, pink and purple. Not a fan of very pale colours and absolutely hate green. I can't even have green pegs on my washing line!
I love green, but it has to be the right shade. I love lime greens and dislike emerald greens.
There was a music festival here, virtually outside our front door, a few years ago. I have a wonderful photo of me not just channeling but releasing my inner hippy, in a khaki vest top, flowery maxi skirt and flat sandals with a canvas shoulder bag. Happy days ?
I hadn’t heard of Blundstones CanadianGran, I just looked them up and now on my wish list - I like the contrast elasticated panels, and I bet they last for years!
In winter I wear mainly blue or black jeans in the winter with turquoise, blue or purple tops. In summer (which I much prefer) I wear linen trousers or long skirts or maxi dresses in bright colours. Basically I'm dressing very like my daughter. My feet are always swollen now so I wear trainers or Hotter shoes in bright colours. My hair is getting shorter and shorter. My mother used to say she didn't know why old ladies had their hair cut like men's, but honestly it's so much easier than trying to force it into some sort of style.
I don't have a style icon!
I am 5' 3" and most of the dresses these days are 'midi', which almost come down to my ankles, and I don't do 'droopy'!
But, the alternative, 'mini' looks ridiculous on a 70-year-old.
I spend a lot of time in long tops and leggings/jeggings and shorts or cropped leggings in summer. I try to get petite fittings and I like Seasalt, the waists then land where they are supposed to. I have had to stop wearing the 'v' necks that suited me when I was in an F cup bra, and now I am completely flat I am looking forward to getting some A cup foobs very soon, I used to look so 'matronly'. I have thinned out my wardrobe considerably and the local charity shops have done well!
I refuse to wear beige.
Love flowery prints.
Hate wearing tights.
I get really cross buying shoes, I have wide feet and they all look awful.
I guess I look ‘matronly’ if anything ??, big boobs are my bête noire.
Since I retired my wardrobe is casual, jeans or jogging shoes, longline tops, Breton tee shirts (I love stripes, dislike most florals). I used to wear a lot of black because I thought it looked slimming but now to heck with that! I rarely wear green or yellow but love jewel colours.
Packing for holiday I am deliberately going for brighter colours, with navy for contrast.
Shoe-wise I go for comfort, an ankle full of pins and plates dictate sensible and comfortable (even more so now I am developing arthritis in my toes and ankles ?
Definitely a jeans and striped (probably Breton) top has been my wardrobe staple for years…. I will wear a knee length denim skirt in the warmer months and linen shirts too, mt wardrobe is disgustingly bursting and needs a good clear out but the above is what I always fall back on.

On my wish list!!
?
Yes, I do have a pair of crocs, for tramping round the farm when I go.
I love colour. It affects my mood and happiness.
Today I have on lemon capris, lime green t shirt, grass green and blue cotton sweater. I’m freezing! Really need some woolies on it’s so cold.
It is really chilly!
Pretty Nancy check the Roman Originals site ,they do loads of knee length dresses and many that dont have awful patterns on them.My pet hate is big patterns so I buy a fair amount from them.
I wear tie dye and harem pants, bright colours avoid black as I look like a maggot. Monkey boots I’ve had since the 70’s.
Long floaty skirts, usually a hat and I smell of patchouli. My hippy has never been “inner “?
Oh no Fanny C, my eyes!

Oh no Fanny C, my eyes!
They are absolutely hideous, aren’t they?
They look so cheap and nasty.
Last year they did Liberty print ones.
Mine are navy blue with Woodstock and Charlie Brown on them
I wear skirts and long sleeved t shirts mostly at home.
In the winter and autumn and early spring I change into a pair of blue jeans before going shopping, usually with ski pants under them, purely in order to keep warm out of doors.
I wear my old skirts at home, and put on a nicer (aka ironed one) if going to the dentist, doctor, or up to the museum where I volunteer.
There hasn't been anything approaching social life since spring of 2020 after all, so our good clothes are hanging unused.
I don’t think I have a style icon. Around the house and garden I wear black Landsend (yes I know, made in China now) jersey trousers and a longish (but not too long, shortens legs) top or jumper. Jeans if I go out or linen trousers in summer. And jackets, have always loved a smart jacket. No cardigans. I wear mostly black and navy but have three bright coloured tops, red, emerald and cobalt blue, plus white and cream, and also some bright pink and bright green jeans. Pastels don’t suit me. Nothing patterned. A black trouser suit for a smart occasion. The dress and jacket I bought for son’s wedding sit in solitary splendour in the wardrobe along with a black dress and jacket I kept after retiring, no other dresses or skirts after a lifetime of wearing dresses and skirt suits for work. I always wear flat shoes or boots with trousers, have never liked the heels with trousers look. So overall quite a plain look but I like it.
Ageing hippie here. So long hair (side swiped pony), bright colours. Normally I wear dresses in flowery prints and quite often retro 50s flared styles, coloured shoes if I can find them.... DH says I always look quite elegant - and I don't, on the whole, dress scruffily. I haven't worn trousers for a while because I put on weight during lockdown and didn't want to buy new ones; the weight is now being shifted and so the jeans may re-appear in the not too distant future. They'll be teamed with bright tops though.

I do have Roman Originals stretchy capris and trousers they are very comfy and lovely colours. I had not looked at their website for a while, and just seen the 'petite' offerings. The majority of the dresses are midi or even ankle length! and lots of 'V' necks
