Is your road having a street party?

Definitely not . We live on a main road and we only know our immediate neighbours despite having lived here more than 20 years. I much preferred living on an estate and was glad we did when the children were young.

Our main village are having a street party. We are on the outskirts of the village and having our own party in a closed off grassy area at the end of the a new estate, decorating on Saturday ready for Saturday 4th. It has been a lot of organising, but we have a catering team and a 'practical' team. Hopefully we'll have sunshine.

I don't know anyone who is having one. Our local pub is having a garden party. We may wander down to that, weather permitting.

My street is, road closure and all. As we are a small cul-de-sac in a small village, it’s not really going to affect very many people.

And it definitely won’t affect us, as we are going away with friends who are equally uninterested in the whole jubilee/royalty palaver.

We don’t live on a street as such. The railway museum are running steam train rides on the Saturday and Sunday, all trains suitably decorated. There may be something happening on the Marina, I really must take a stroll over and have a look at the notice board. There are picnics taking place in parks around the city but we won’t be going.

We're having one in the garden of our block of flats. Looking forward to it. I've got the bunting and all the paraphernalia. Catering and drinks organised too. Just need a pipe band...

We live in a small market town and our street is having one. This is being organised by young residents in their 20s. They have organised a street closure from 10am to 10pm. As yet I’m not sure about the food situation. I also think the local town council is organising something in the market square. Just hope the weather is kind.

Why is it so difficult for people to reply to you when you’ve printed a flyer, posted in all houses asking if they will be attending? All I asked for was a quick text.
Fortunately the majority did reply ?

We live on a busy main road that is a feeder to the motorway so there is no way we would be allowed to close the road.

Unfortunately, there are loads of people who will leave planning and organising events to everyone else and just turn up to enjoy the fun.
Our Close is just the same and the VE celebrations in 2020 were left to two quite elderly ladies to organise; they did a fabulous job but they're both in declining health now. However, plans have still been left to these two - me being one of them before any GNetter tells me to get on with it - as Meryl says 'Never again"!

I live in a small cul de sac and we are not. The only available area to sit and chat or dine is my expanse of front lawn which I do not really want although nobody has approached me about its use.

Ours is, and I gather from the organiser that most people in our small road will be attending ?. There won't be tables down the middle of the road but one of the houses has a large front and side garden and we will have our teaparty there. We have our designated items to take and there was a collection to purchase bunting, flags etc. I'm looking forward to it as although we have lived here for a few years now we only really know our immediate neighbours.

Nope I’ve heard about nothing near me. There is plenty of green spaces and a park too but nothing as far as I know.

I live in Germany and we, re having a street party organised from our British womens club . A fantastic idea to honour our queen .

I will be away for most of that time but I haven't heard anything about a party here.

I remember the street parties at my old address when my children were young. Lots of fun.

We have a local "Next door.com" which was publicising events for the Jubilee. Last time I looked at the map there were 2 events in Scotland. Both in the Edinburgh area

Our village is having a mass street party in the centre of the village on the Sunday. All invited. We can sit with our neighbours (maybe not!) friends or family. I’ll sit with my daughter and her group then go walkabout. Before that I’ll be in Devon with DD3. Their road is being shut off for the day on the Friday. It just leads to the sailing club and beach so no problem. I think that’ll be more fun than the other one.

Our Association is organising an event in the market place of a local town here in France. The Maire is very supportive.

We will be in France, sodapop, at a large gathering of the clan (dh’s side) at a huge property belonging to a BiL. Two big family wedding do’s have been held there, inc. a dd’s, and M. le very friendly Maire has said more than once that he’d welcome another - they bring a lot of business to the area!

So maybe there’ll be something, but I’m not counting any chickens. There are always gallons of wine sloshing about but I’m still going to take a couple of bottles of Pimm’s to have on the day!

Esspee there are lots more events than that planned in Scotland. Not everyone actually registers them anywhere. They're mostly not official and just friendly nieghbours getting together.

Yes our whole estate is coming together with road closure, cake baking competitions, craft tables for the children etc. We are bringing our own food which in our case will be wine!

Have just been told that our village is having a party in the park with a brass band etc. Take your own picnic and then at 8.30 pm there is to be a walk up to the church where a beacon will be lit at 9.30 and there is to be champagne etc. Sounds good but I probably won’t go as I am not into all this .

We have a street bbq every year in July with live music, bouncy castle etc- this year we are having it - in July. We did discuss having it over the jubilee bank hol but the main organisers are away as it’s half term. One or two moaners have said we should do a jubilee one - were told they were free to organise one but surprise surprise they haven’t bothered .

I often wonder how easy it is to obtain permission for road closures on these sorts of occasions?
