Is your road having a street party?

A lovely inter-generational big party on the village playing field. Looking forward to it.

I only found out it was this weekend listening to the radio this morning. I haven’t heard of any street parties but a house round the corner is festooned with flags and complete with a stuffed figure sitting on a bench with the Queens face on. I don’t think she would be flattered ?

Yes we are. It has been organised by those at the top end of our rather long road and they have been given permission to close just our lower end which is flat. Apparently those of us affected will have to move any cars parked on the road and also any cars if we want to go out between midday and 8pm, which we will be as my granddaughter's birthday party is that day.

Yes, it's a bring your own food, drinks, chairs etc, with entertainment provided by a neighbour who is in the entertainment business. Really looking forward to it bunting, flags balloons will be put up next week.

We are supposed to be having a party in our cul de sac. I’ve not heard much about it for a while, we usually decorate our own houses & turn up with drink, food & chairs.
I don’t think I will be attending as my son is doing a BBQ on the same day, I’d much rather go there. The local park are having a ‘party in the park’ with bands, stalls etc, again it’s bring your own food, chair, drinks etc. The trees in the park have been wool bombed & do look lovely.

It all seems quite tame compared to the hype of 1977. We had massive street parties then. I also remember people queuing in the bank & going crazy to get hold of the Jubilee Crowns!

we have a community centre 100 yards away and still doing nothing. I'm a republican and I will be working all 4 days but I'm surprised someone hasn't organised something

We are having one - organised by some of the younger residents. The road will be closed - access is allowed if necessary- it’s a longish road on a hill ?? but it’s happened before and it was fine. There will be music at 3 points in the road and we all do our own food and decorations- very happy to celebrate - am not an anti- monarchist - glad they are there to deny power to anybody else.

My street no but my oldest son street is and about 200 houses most are involved so I’m going to have weekend with them in Manchester

Our village is having a family picnic afternoon on the Friday, with games and bouncy castle; on Saturday its a bring your own to a gathering in the market square; Sunday sees a sit down lunch for 75 - first come first serve for tickets.
Doing the picnic with family but generally I'm pretty ambivalent about the weekend.

Not heard anything from my street - thankfully! I’m not a royalist so would feel rather hypocritical, celebrating a royal occasion. I’m hoping to stay away from it all, as far as possible.

A neighbour says she is organising one, but how far she has got, I've no idea or for which day. Basically don't know - watch this space!!

I'm just back from a walk. I saw three posters for jubilee teas or lunches at various locations - 2 street closures and one at the local church. Looks like my nieghbourhood is going to be having a good fun few days.

we could easily have a party as there is 53 flats in the building and plenty of space out in the front of the building away from a quiet road.....but we won't as we live in glasgow scotland so probably not many parties.

No street closures in my village thank goodness. Something on at the village hall but despite being a royalist I'm bah humbug about it all (nothing new there). I have bought some raffle tickets to show some support. I have never been one for enforced jollities. Quite happy in my own garden with my own choice of food, drink and company. Feel free to pile in!!!

Our cul de sac is but we are away! Many are on holiday with their children so it will be a quiet do! We had amazing street gatherings over the pandemic all socially distanced, they brought the street together plus helped the children to socialise again as well !

Ours is a main road with heavy lorries et al. So no we are not having a party. We'd love to shut the road but they wouldn't let us. Oh, yes and it's quite narrow, only one VERY narrow pavement and extremely dangerous for pedestrians and our local council refuse to listen to our concerns.

Once again I'm in Scotland and there's loads of jubilee parties planned. We're having one at our block of flats. We're all looking forward to it.

Suggestion to have one was put out on our local FB page at the beginning of the year. Last time I looked there was very little response. Will be surprised if anything happens. May be individuals will have their own celebrations.

We live on a main road too and only know our immediate neighbours.

We have our local village bash in the park, but I had wondered exactly how much faff organisation would be involved for a private individual organising.

Ours is a close and unfortunately the answer is no. We are going camping and the small village we are going to is having a tea party for the residents only which is understandable but we will be going to the lighting of the beacon and to listen to the music. The lady who owns the small camping site is doing a barbecue which will be lovely as it happens to be my husbands birthday.

there may well be loads in Edinburgh but I haven't heard of any either in my own locality or any of my families .
There weren't any at other jubilees so no surprise .I believe the coronation was the last

Thé Parish Council are lighting a beacon and burying a Time Capsule on thé 3/4th. Also hosting a three course meal for 50 nominated people/families who struggled through Covid. Various street parties all over the village, none on our road, we live on an awkward corner.
