I thought this might of been “kicked” into the long grass but…

hopefully that poor cat will get justice. ?

I am not suggesting that our Grandchildren read Gransnet, I am saying we should nit be name calling and we should discouraging our Grandchildren from doing so.
My Grand child would be disgusted at what Zouma has done, but the name calling is unnecessary. Yes his family would be appalled at what he has done, but reading nasty comments about their husband and Father is very unpleasant.
No I am not a moderator GSM, but I reserve the right to say name calling is wrong.

MissAdventure Thu 26-May-22 16:10:41

And I reserve the right to thank you for your input, and carry on as I see fit.
But then I'm a "low life", so what would I know?

welbeck Thu 26-May-22 16:10:57

doesn't compare with kicking a cat though, does it.
i think there is a place for righteous indignation, which upholds the moral order.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 26-May-22 16:14:06

MissAdventure you are not a low life, you are kind, caring and empathetic person who abhors animal cruelty and bullying.

welbeck Thu 26-May-22 16:15:34

and so say all of us !

MissAdventure Thu 26-May-22 16:21:55

smile
Let's hope the judge in this case (the Zoume one, that is, not the gransnet one!) secretly shares the same thoughts, and throws the book at him a nice heavy one

rafichagran

You're doing the very thing you accuse others of doing ie name-calling.
I really dislike bullying and that sounds like bullying of another poster to me.

But perhaps that didn't occur to you.

If I heard correctly on the radio yesterday, this video was exposed by a young woman who was on a dating app and about to meet up with Zouma's brother who sent it to her (in an attempt to woo?)

She cancelled the date and told him what she thought about cruelty to animals.

Good for her - must have been tempting to go on a date with the brother of a multi-millionaire footballer.

MissAdventure Thu 26-May-22 16:29:49

He knows the way to a woman's heart, doesn't he?!
I'm so glad she spoke out.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 26-May-22 16:29:53

Good for her indeed. If not for her, he might have killed the cats by now (as he was saying he would).
And how right you are, Callistemon.

MissAdventure Thu 26-May-22 16:35:10

With a lot of these "celebs", it is only the strength of feeling expressed by Joe public that pushes things along to their rightful conclusion (court/removal of the animal)
It should never be that someone is too "important" to face the consequences of their actions.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 26-May-22 16:38:39

You're so right. I suspect this would have gone away without the strength of public feeling displayed.

welbeck Thu 26-May-22 16:40:56

well presumably the other adults in their home circle would have seen this type of behaviour, but did nothing to stop it ?

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 26-May-22 16:43:40

Disgraceful. And what are the children going to think is acceptable after seeing it happen?

rafichagran Thu 26-May-22 16:44:25

No I called out the name calling, it is not a good example to set. Also I believe that people who name call in that fashion , be it on racism, or sexism displays low life behaviour, or perhaps that did not occur to you Callisamum.
I dont hear kind people calling people Scum and Plonkers.

Callistemon21 Thu 26-May-22 16:47:28

So what is worse for Zoumas's children?

Being brought up in a family where it is perfectly acceptable to inflict cruelty on a small animal, threaten to kill it, think it is amusing and film it to put on social media?

Or perhaps read a rude word about their father on a Grandparents site which no self-respecting child would ever read anyway?

? Difficult one.

Callistemon21 Thu 26-May-22 16:47:58

X post but relevant.

Callistemon21 Thu 26-May-22 16:48:31

Callisamum.

Who is that?

Callistemon21 Thu 26-May-22 16:54:19

He's certainly not a plonker.

Scum definition in the Cambridge Dictionary:
a very bad or immoral person or group of people

Lowlife definition in the Cambridge Dictionary:
a person who exists by criminal activities or has a way of life that most people disapprove of:

I really think you should apologise to MissAdventure as your name-calling of her was quite disgraceful.

rafichagran Thu 26-May-22 17:03:48

Certainly not Callistamomname calling such as Scum and Plonker are unnecessary and very insulting. I do consider it low life language, along with racist and sexist language.

Amazing, isn't it Grannygravy!!

MissAdventure Thu 26-May-22 17:08:16

Well, it's a strange thing to call out derogatory terms by calling someone a derogatory term, but if you feel that gives you some kind of moral highground, knock yourself out.
Bad example for your grandchildren though, I would say, quite apart from the fact that I'm not a criminal.

Callistemon21 Thu 26-May-22 17:09:29

Plonker def:
a foolish or inept person.

Quite mild in comparison ?

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 26-May-22 17:09:30

Thank you for the definitions Callistemon. They seem most appropriate to him and to his brother. Not to MissA who is certainly deserving of an apology.
