For some low-life individuals it might well have a lot to do with racism.

I doubt that applies to gransnetters. We are condemning the man because he committed an appalling act of cruelty on a sentient animal. Most people are repulsed by such behaviour - it features all too often in the media. And, from what I can see, the majority of offenders are white native Brits. Zouma has just joined their ranks. He didn't do this because he's black, he did it because he's an abusive bullying man.

I'll have to ask my lovely, educated, black ex partner what he thinks.

And you implied that one of our members - someone who is quite liked around here - was among the ranks of the 'low-lifers'. We defended her. Because we don't believe she is.

When passing sentence on Zouma, the judge will no doubt refer to his act of cruelty and condemn it and him - using all the right terminology befitting of the Court.

The court of public opinion has also passed judgement, using more direct language - cruelty to children and animals - any defenceless sentient - is a highly emotive issue.

... and it hasn't "gone on too long". The incident has re-surfaces because Zouma has had his day in court and has pleaded guilty, so he's back in the media spotlight again.

Cruelty to animals is totally unacceptable whoever the perpetrator.

You cannot excuse Zouma because he is black.
You cannot use that as an excuse for your unpleasant attacks.

The sentencing is on June 1st apparently.. let’s hope justice is done for this despicable human being..

I think the best we can hope for is that he is taken down a peg or two.
I am always amazed at the leniency for animal abuse.

Dont you dare say I am excusing him because he is Black. I want him punished for his acts. I just think there is some racism as the name calling has gone on too long
As for my partner he would not defend what he has done, he just feels the way some people have behaved there is a element of racism. It should be left to the courts to decide not the name callers.
