I thought this might of been “kicked” into the long grass but…

hopefully that poor cat will get justice. ?

Not too sure what's going on here but surely calling someone a low life because they've called someone a name makes them a low life as well?

There is no racism in this Zouma case. He just so happens to be black. Abuse to animals is abhorrent to most people. Zouma was abusive and I hope he gets fined. I'd prefer it if he got a prison sentence but that's not likely.

I also wish Moyes had not played him. It was disgraceful and at least the French were decent enough to drop him.

MissAdventure Thu 26-May-22 22:57:42

Are you sure now?

MissAdventure Thu 26-May-22 22:59:34

I'm not sure anyone knows what's going on here. smile

It’s a blooming good job I came back to this thread at 3am, as opposed to 10pm when g’n’t’s and strong meds had been taken.
I’m sure that any comment I made would have resulted me being booted out again!
(?-> me)

MissA and Shep thanksbrew

Btw, Only Fools writer John Sullivan invented the word ‘plonker’ as an alternative swearword, so that the characters could legitimately ‘swear’ on prone team BBC.

I always associate the word ‘plonker’ with kind, gentle, slightly soppy Rodney.

Not a person such as the vile, filthy piece of toe-rag Zouma.

I feel that, like Sullivan, I need to create my own fitting adjective for Zouma; as I cannot find an existing one; one which adequately describes both my loathing for him; and also his disgusting character and behaviour.

Prone team = prime time hmm

Well it seems as though a certain poster has a particularly angry bee buzzing about in her bonnet (or should that be nightcap)!
Can I suggest a game of guinea pig Top Trumps? We once had 14 after a garden centre sold us “2 females”.
Spoiler - it soon became apparent that they were not both female.

FannyCornforth Fri 27-May-22 07:44:59

grin or a wasp in her wig, as I like to say!

Aah! I love Guinea Pigs - yes I know that scenario well!

We had a three storey pen.
Girls on the top; then the boys; then the rabbit and her Guinea pig companion on the ground floor.
My mom got them for me; but they were definitely hers.
It was my responsibility to clean them out though to her extremely exacting standards; due to the fact that they were mine confused

I’d love some now, but we don’t have space to bring them in when it’s cold, and we also have foxes

I’d love to see an end to his football career too. And I hope he’s learnt his lesson! Do these sort of louts ever learn though? I hope so, it was witnessed by his child. What a example he showed to him

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 27-May-22 09:45:43

I wish he could be given the sort of sentence that the French courts have the ability to pass. The sentences available here are woefully inadequate, not to mention the fact that he will be given 'credit' for a guilty plea, which will be taken into account in sentencing. He is exceptionally wealthy and a fine and payment of prosecution costs will be meaningless. And because WH paid so much for him, they will continue playing him. I wonder if the crowd will continue to mock him when the new season starts? I sincerely hope so.

I thought it was funny when DGS bought a guinea pig then found the next morning that he had two!

I have read this thread in growing disbelief. Wasps in the wig indeed FannyC.

It seems from news reports that the cat kicking was not an isolated incident. I’m glad those cats have been rehomed.

MissAdventure Fri 27-May-22 11:55:56

I wouldn't have thought it was a "one off".
It does make you wonder what home life is like in the cat kickers house.

Alioop Fri 27-May-22 12:24:19

Any person who could hurt and abuse an animal are scum. Plain and simple.

Mumsmum2 Fri 27-May-22 12:44:38

It appears that anyone in the public eye, famous or whatever you want to call them get away with a lot of bad behaviour. Just look at the antics of Katie price who should have at least received a prison sentence by now. Also Boris breaking the law too so I don't think these men will be punished.

grandtanteJE65 Fri 27-May-22 12:48:35

I am as ardent a cat lover as anyone else, and grateful to hear that he has not been allowed to keep the poor creatures.

What concerns me most is, if this is the way the man treats the animals he presumably agreed to let into his house, how does he treat his child, or children?

All right a cat is a cat, and a child a child, but can we be sure he does not kick or spank or threaten his child?

Jess20 Fri 27-May-22 13:37:06

We all slip up but this was premeditated and planned for a video that was posted publically! Shows a significant lack of concern for the welfare of the animals and total lack of insight into how this might be interpreted by people looking at the video! Perhaps they thought it was funny at the time but that's a big mistake as most people know animal abuse isn't acceptable or something to be proud of, and not a good example for his children. What an idiot! Hopefully learnt from the incident and will not own animals again. Or perhaps he blames the cats for the bad publicity.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 27-May-22 13:41:31

I doubt he’s learned anything. I would like to see him and his brother banned from keeping animals but that won’t happen.

icanhandthemback Fri 27-May-22 14:22:12

rafichagran

Certainly not Callistamomname calling such as Scum and Plonker are unnecessary and very insulting. I do consider it low life language, along with racist and sexist language.

And what Zouma did was offensive and insulting to me. In the real world, I would no more torture him to a slow death than I would an animal, but saying something like that is a way of demonstrating how strongly you feel about his behaviour. If GSM were encouraging people to become vigilantes, I could understand your standpoint rafichagran she is well within her rights to feel as she does and express that. As for calling someone "Scum", it isn't a term I would use...unless they were acting like Scum. In this case with such violence against a defenceless animal, what would you call him?

Callistemon21 Fri 27-May-22 14:28:15

I think the term "plonker" is rather endearing.

I certainly wouldn't say "Oh Zouma, you plonker, you just kicked and terrorised the cat in front of your distressed child and put the film on social media".

Stronger words are more appropriate.

Harmonypuss Fri 27-May-22 14:37:26

He might get a short ban, maybe 5yrs, the chances are if they do impose a ban, it'll only be on keeping cats, I seriously doubt it will be on all animals but if he's capable of kicking a cat who's to say he would treat a dog any differently?

He could be fined and I hope any fine would be equivalent to AT LEAST a month's wages.

He could be put on probation but I really can't see that having the desired effect on this abuser.

Prison sentences are available to the court as a punishment but I seriously doubt they'll hand one of those down as the cats are alive and 'physically' well, plus, as others have said, he's famous, so can get away with almost anything.

I for one will be keeping an eye on the news next week when his punishment is handed down.

Callistemon21 Fri 27-May-22 15:06:43

Is it permitted to call him a thug?

I doubt that any fne would have much impact on him, Harmonypuss.

Dropping him from his team would be a good outcome because footballers should be good role models and he is another bad example of a footballer who have been spoilt by money and success.

FannyCornforth Fri 27-May-22 15:10:27

Nah, I think that he gives thugs a bad name.
