A ‘happy to be celebrating the jubilee’ thread.

Laura now that’s worth celebrating!

I probably won’t go to any of our village do’s but I’ll hang my Union Jack up and raise a glass to her maj.

I’m working Friday, Saturday and Sunday so can’t join in with the celebrations much as I’d love to. We will be having some nibbles at work, I’ve been charged with savouries so will be off to Waitrose to stock up.
Will pop into our local pub tomorrow afternoon and join in with whatever they are doing and will record all the tv programmes to watch at my leisure.

Our forecast’s not looking too bad, so fingers crossed! I’m just about to make a chocolate cake for DD1’s family get-together tomorrow. Then we’re going to Harewood House’s Food Festival on Friday, a local 40s weekend on Saturday and unless we’re then fit for nothing but a day slumped on the sofa, a music event on Sunday.

I’m no ardent royalist, but I am a traditionalist and love a bit of pomp and ceremony. And any excuse for a party is a good one round here. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s on offer from all the small traders and artisans who’ll have worked their socks off to stock their stalls for these occasions and deserve do well over the next few days.

And I’ll be putting a bit of bunting out later if I can remember where I stored it after the last royal wedding do.

Yes, the weather looks awful for most of the weekend.
What a shame.

Our bunting and Union Flag will go up tomorrow. We have planned a small 'get together' outside with a few neighbours but that is now under threat due to the weather.

Either way, we will celebrate, we will raise a glass to our Queen and we will eat the cake and other treats that's I'm making on Saturday.

I shall be volunteering at my local museum on Saturday. Lots going on for the visitors.
On Sunday I shall be having my son and his family over and we shall raise a glass to HM whilst enjoying a traditional roast dinner.
No street party in my street but there are several going on nearby.

I’m happy to celebrate. The Queen has reigned for most of my life - she became queen when I was 11 years old. I enjoy the history - hers and mine!

I’m going to a jubilee lunch today. It’s so long since I’ve been to a social event that I feel a bit nervous about my ability to make conversation. I’m glad it’s so early, because it will leave me free to watch the events at the weekend on television.

Will be hanging out my Union flag today and making Coronation chicken for the village picnic.

Starting my prep today for family weekend as the Jubilee coincides with Grandsons 18th Birthday celebrations. Lots of fun anticipated and we are going to enjoy all the TV coverage. Off to get lots of flowers for the house today and cook the beef in red wine for the first of the celebrations tomorrow evening . I hope you all have a good weekend. Putting up my bunting today.

Sun is shining hot and strong so far and my bunting, put up yesterday in the rain, can now dry out! Like others on this Post I have champagne in the fridge and a few things planned to do to celebrate the Lady who has been our Head of State all my life as I was born in 1952. I have a delivery of Cornish Pasties and scones arriving to-day ready for the small family get together on Friday. Looking forward to a very rare Platinum Jubilee.

Happy holiday Pant, bring back some of that sunshine, not much in the weather barn at the moment.

They don’t have a happy long relationship with their own royal family that we do, but seem to celebrate ‘Aunt Lilibet’ anyway! And why not, she hasn’t put a foot wrong has she!

Two weeks ago our beautiful daughter-in-law rang that bugger off to cancer bell and on Friday we will be in their garden having a fabulous big celebration for her 40th birthday. The garden has already been decorated and the bunting is up, bouncy castle apparently due to arrive, food all organised and son has built a covered pergola for the bar. Lots of friends and family, loads of children, so fun and laughter for us. We have much to be thankful for ? ???
Next day a gathering for a few of our friends, a more sedate affair and will raise a glass to HM ? ??

We are looking forward to returning to “Blighty” from across the channel and then joining friends Oxfordshire to celebrate on Sat/Sun before returning back up north.

It’s wonderful to see so many Union Jack flags flying here in Normandy, obviously they are here for the forthcoming D-day celebrations but it’s good to see and hopefully there will be plenty flying when we arrive back home.

What a wonderful Queen we have had for 70 years.

Not a royalist, and will not be celebrating.

But, this is an event in our history and I will watch some of the TV coverage out of interest from that perspective. We are seeing the slow end of an era and I believe the monarchy will eventually become redundant. But personally, I'd like to see it happen 'organically', naturally, as times change and we progress. I'm not one of the "off with their heads" bunch. Better to have a peaceful 'revolution' when the majority of people agree upon a principle.

I don't begrudge the street parties - for some, it will be an opportunity for a get-together after a couple of horrible years.

Can I just pop in and wish you all a jolly day.
