P.S. I’m a total coward about all things medical but it’s ‘a necessary evil’ so to speak.

I know Blossoming we are fortunate that we are able to have them. But goodness why am I complaining, you've been enduring them for 20 years ?

I'll do my best to ignore the panic button!

I use diazepam fir the dentist ( jaw problem) as a relaxant, usually take 2. You are completely aware but just not bothered, if you see what I mean.

Silverlining48 GP gave me one 2mg pill My appointment is 4. 20pm How long does diazepam usually take to work, please?

I take them about half hour beforehand. If you think you might be kept waiting take it as soon as you arrive.

Yes, you could feel very sleepy if you aren’t used to them.
You might need to go to bed when you get home!
And you aren’t a coward at all, you are just being honest

I just checked and mine are 5 mg. I usually take 2, and once 4. (Now that was two too many.).
Luckily my dh was chauffeur.
You will be fine on 2 mg but if it’s not too late someone to drive you home might be helpful.

Good evening everyone. I just wanted to let you know how it was. I told the radiographer that I was nervous and asked if she would talk to me during the scan. She had no problem with this, and took time to show me the scanner and describe everything and how much of my body would be inside. She was lovely and I felt totally at ease. I was given ear plugs and used my own face mask.
The scan lasted 30 minutes, but it didn't seem too long. I played the alphabet word games which worked, although at one time the noise was horrendous for a while, as some people said, so I did controlled breathing during this.
They were running behind so my quordle etc, kept me occupied and stopped me thinking about it.
If I had another one, in the same scanner, I wouldn't need diazepam, but it did help this time.
In case anyone reads this who is going for the first time, there really is nothing to fear.

I want to say thanks to you all. I was so nervous, and in the short time after I posted, I got so many helpful and reassuring comments. I'm so glad I posted, because you all made it much easier for me.
