Merci beaucoup!!!

I have learned that in the 16th century Rue Mercière was the street of printers and notably housed Sébastien Gryphe's workshop, at the corner of rue Thomassin.

These days there are lots of restaurants and cafés there.

So shall we all go and have a walk along Rue Mercière before dinner?

Summer Walk - Rue Mercière

There are some short excerpts at the start, but from around 27 seconds in, the view is continuous, as it happened.

Around 12 minutes in total

Sorry - dressing for dinner.
Gotta outshine GSM

After dinner cocktails for me again this evening. I admit I have a crush on the barman, a Euan McGregor look-a-like but with an Eastern European accent instead of a Scottish one. There are some advantages of being a widow.

Moi aussi. Didn’t have a chance to get the diamonds from the bank so paste must suffice. Pardonnez moi

Thank you SD, you're most kind.
I am expecting hoping for an invitation to the Captain's Table...
Don't want to cause havoc in the kitchen, or whatever it's called, so I will keep it simple and just have what you're having.
.

There is only one table, a long table, so you are indeed invited to the Captain's Table.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 11-Jun-22 19:29:12

What will we eat?

Joseanne Sat 11-Jun-22 19:40:38

Apologies I'm late to the table! I had a wonderful day visiting the markets and exploring the beautiful city. I totally forgot the time. In the words of Bonnie Tyler, "I was lost in Lyon, in love."
Preparing dinner for you my friends has been challenging as most of the recipes from the region, Lyon being the gastronomic capital of France, maybe even Europe, revolve around meat ..... calves' head, tripe, saucisson, black pudding etc. The French adore la viande.
Anyway, I have aperitifs waiting for you on deck before I throw some food together, with very little meat for now. The cheese is cervelles de canut, a bit like boursin. Bon appétit.

ixion Sat 11-Jun-22 19:42:50

I think you have done us proud SD.

Joseanne Sat 11-Jun-22 19:43:50

Cervelle de canut, a classic Lyonnaise cheese spread, literally means “silk weaver’s brain.” There are several theories floating around about the origins of the herb-infused spread’s name. Some people believe it is a reference to thelow opinionLyon’s upper-class citizens had ofcanuts(silk weavers) in the 19th century. Others say the name refers to the fact thatcanutswere usuallytoo poorto afford actual lamb brains as part of their meal.

Oh dear, I made the mistake of clicking that link.
I have always avoided cruises with any sort of evening entertainment or the likes of a cabaret- hmm know I know why.

Marydoll Sat 11-Jun-22 23:27:47

I too will give the Pilons l'orge rendition a miss.

My pupils performed this at our annual French Day concert Vanessa Paradis, just happens to be on board and has agreed to sing.
Feel free to get up and dance!
