I have just seen another comment on twitter from someone expecting the arrival of their new blue passport.
Do most people expect a blue passport now we are not in the EU?
Sorry to disillusion you but British passports are now black like the souls of the PM and the Conservative party.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 13-Jun-22 14:24:41

To say that anyone’s soul is black is horrible.

Smileless2012 Mon 13-Jun-22 14:26:50

Yes it is GSM.

Zoejory Mon 13-Jun-22 14:27:30

They're exactly the same colour as they were before we got EU passports!

I hardly think anyone's that concerned about the colour of their passport either

Esspee Mon 13-Jun-22 14:36:50

I have a new one and I can assure you it isn’t blue.
Anyone happy to send refugees to Rawanda has no humanity.

Urmstongran Mon 13-Jun-22 14:41:17

That’s me then.

grannyrebel7 Mon 13-Jun-22 14:57:45

Shame on you!

Oldbat1 Mon 13-Jun-22 14:59:15

Are these being printed in France? Or have I made that up?

crazyH Mon 13-Jun-22 15:01:44

Esspee that’s an awful thing to say. If you feel so strongly, why don’t you relinquish your British passport/ citizenship ?

Petera Mon 13-Jun-22 15:05:48

The government seem to believe that they are both blue and iconic.

Esspee Mon 13-Jun-22 15:06:31

I don’t have an alternative……..at the moment crazyH.

You would do yourself a big favour if you researched the difference between a true refugee using legal and compassionate routes to get here, and economic migrants that pay the equivalent of a first class flight to get her via the back door.
This done because they know they would fail the classification of refugee.

I remember having this discussion about the colour of passports, years ago.

They were said to be blue. But they were the darkest blue I've ever seen

I always used to say they were black. Father used to get cross with me.

But they're exactly the same colour. I have my old and new one.

Same.

Esspee Mon 13-Jun-22 15:09:36

Well mine is most certainly not blue Petera.

It has just occurred to me, perhaps Scots are being given black ones to distinguish them from saltire blue ones to be issued after independence.

tanith Mon 13-Jun-22 15:09:49

My very old original passport is very very dark blue the new one still looks to have a bluish hint to me although very dark and as we all perceive colour in our own way maybe that’s why some see black and some see blue.

AGAA4 Mon 13-Jun-22 15:10:20

I don't really care what colour my passport is as long as it works.

Zoejory Mon 13-Jun-22 15:10:30

See? Identical. Very black. But called blue. Never understood why.

westendgirl Mon 13-Jun-22 15:15:45

Why does it matter what colour it is?

Petera Mon 13-Jun-22 15:17:54

I honestly have no idea what colour they are, or are supposed to be. But the government and the Brexiles seem to care about this stuff.

The Home Office webpage was the usual farage farago of fact and insinuation. Anyone reading it casually would assume that we were forced to change the design and the colour when we entered the EU whereas in fact we just chose to.

Urmstongran Mon 13-Jun-22 15:18:36

I don’t think the colour matters but it is nice that newly issued ones now say ‘British Passport’ not ‘EU’. Well, to some.
?

Thank you! I told my SIL that my new one was black-she kept insisting it was dark blue!

Maudi Mon 13-Jun-22 15:21:49

The new passports are dark blue perhaps the op needs her eyes tested. I've just checked mine.

I agree AGGZA4.
Anyway, black matches most of my handbags nicely.

maddyone Mon 13-Jun-22 15:24:11

I don’t care what colour my passport is, so long as I’ve got one.
To say anyone’s soul is black is indeed a horrible thing to say. If it must be said, perhaps it could be about serial killers, child murderers, and terrorists who kill multiple people. To say it just because you don’t like someone’s politics and general behaviour is very poor form.

Agree with you Esspee and with your original statement.

Millionaires condemning children to grow up in poverty in a first world country.

What else is that, if not evil? Rich man and the eye of a needle and all that.
