WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.

Grandmabatty Sat 09-Jul-22 17:48:51

I'm very jealous Ladyleftfieldlover It looks like you are having a great time. Yiayia that's good to hear.

MawtheMerrier Sat 09-Jul-22 18:00:43

Thank you soop it’s nice to be home. I am sorry you are poorly and that Suedonim has succumbed to the dreaded Covid. Hope you are feeling much better soon. I am amazed I have managed to stay clear up to now but oops, that might be tempting fate!
It’s been a busy week with 12 year-old GS here. He’s a lovely boy and easy company but we were out and about much more than I would normally be. I drove up to Birmingham for him on Monday, then it was Bletchley Park on Tuesday, the new Topgun Maverick film on Wednesday, and a trip to London to see Birmingham Royal Ballet’s “Don Quixote” on Thursday. I was shattered! Plus all those meals- 12 year old boys can really pack it away (and then stay as slim as a reed!)
So today was a day for nothing more exciting than watching the Ladies’ tennis final. Rosie is complaining because she wants/needs a walk but it is still too hot! Kintyre must be absolutely lovely at the moment - I suppose there might even be a sunset? ?

Jaxjacky Sat 09-Jul-22 19:55:23

Hi all, fingers crossed Yia.
Hope your Covid flat isn’t suffering too much SueD guess the heat isn’t helping.
That looks yum llfl is it hot there too?
Slightly cooler today with the tiniest breeze, I was up very early and it was a lovely temperature, we’re getting hotter early part of next week, my water meter will be spinning.
Leeks put in the raised this morning and picked a decent cucumber, bbq for two tomorrow.
Dinner will be ready soon, we eat so much later when it’s warm.
Enjoy your evening all, I thought of Panache today, hope she’s ok.

cornergran Sat 09-Jul-22 20:48:55

Good to see you back maw. I won’t ask what happened, best not to risk it.

Oh dear soop, hope those antibiotics do their stuff and quickly.

Get better soon sued and anyone else in sick bay. It’s not the weather for fevers and nasty bugs.

I’m a very happy corner this evening. A long day out ‘found’ an excellent river and a boat trip. Just what I needed.

Sleep well everyone.

brook2704 Sat 09-Jul-22 21:26:22

Good evening all.
Just back from my meal out with my friend.
How very disappointing it was.
I went with my GD and her friend recently and really enjoyed it.
Tonight was a huge disappointment and that wasn’t just because of my mood.
It will be some time till I visit again.
I am now in bed with a cup of tea,
Hey ho.
That is life in a nutshell.
Good times, disappointing times.
Night everyone.

Good evening dear Kitcheners, it’s been a lovely sunny day here and I have emptied all the washing baskets. Mr. B seems to regard this as a challenge, so am expecting some muddy clothes to appear soon grin. We ate a lovely plum cake for afternoon tea, I will need to be on lettuce leaves and water next week after all these treats!
Hope our Covid warriors are on the mend flowers

Urmstongran Sat 09-Jul-22 22:18:03

‘Evening All’

Hello everyone, just popping in to say I’ve been allowed to leave the norty step. I’ve missed you all. Very much actually.

We are just back from babysitting. Himself has just brought me a cuppa. Urmston town centre is buzzing tonight it must be the sunny weather brought everyone out. The bars were busy as we passed on our way up and here I am in my pjs. I know how to rock & roll ha!

muse Sat 09-Jul-22 22:57:35

Good evening kind Kitcheners. I've ventured forth in to the fruit and veg patch today with the intention of lifting the shallots. One and a half hours later they were all lifted and are now curing (so the allotment guru tell me). Amazing little things - shallots. Put them in the ground and forget them. Blackcurrants and tayberries picked.

Just enjoyed a cool walk outside with Mya who is now refusing to come back in. The cool grass is more appealing than her big cushion inside.

Rest well on the sofa as long as is needed SueD. Hopefully in just a few more days you will be much perkier. Sorry to hear about all the other ailments with the family.

I do hope that infection is under control soon Soop. Take care.

I'm wishing you lots of more good times annsixty. What a disappointment with that meal. Birthday's bring on my down moments. Here's an early birthday wish ?from me for Tuesday. I'm on the search for 85 candles.

I wish I had your bravery with cows ShazzaKanazza. Beautiful view down the hill.

It's a long time since we've heard from Panache, Jax. Perhaps Doodle has some news of her.

More shade needed tomorrow ⛱ but I'll be glued to the TV in the afternoon with MrMuse. Now there's a rarity.

kittylester Sun 10-Jul-22 09:58:58

Oh crikey!! Please can you all sit still when I'm not here.

I have no hope of remembering everything but

I hope all poorly people feel better soon especially our soop.

Feeling sad that ann's meal was a disappointment. It is even more disappointing when a place we have previously enjoyed has 'gone off'.

Nice to see 'norty' people back.

We have had a fairly busy time with one thing and another including dementia diagnoses in the wider family, people moving - family and neighbours. But this picture has made me smile. It is DGD1 who has been struggling with her mum's breast cancer diagnosis but is feeling better now and went to a party where a florist was making 'crowns'.

Nannytopsy Sun 10-Jul-22 10:00:02

Morning! It’s going to be another warm one! Our DD is now 35 weeks pregnant and really feeling the heat. Remember the puffy ankles ladies? I keep thinking that just another day or two to finish the garden then I’ll get on with the patchwork cot quilt but I really can’t delay much longer!
Our neighbour sent me a series of increasingly unpleasant texts yesterday complaining that we were hammering on a Saturday. I explained that we had been out so she complained that “our builder” had still been working. Silly woman had got the wrong house ??.
I didn’t enlighten her!
I shall do my bit today by pressure washing the patio, which is a suitably noisy job, while our other neighbour continues the hammering on his roof!
Sometimes it’s satisfying to get your own back! I hope soop isn’t too disappointed with my behaviour. ?
I hope you all enjoy the day and that the Covid warriors are on the mend.
? for Marydoll.

Dogsmakemesmile Sun 10-Jul-22 10:06:18

Best wishes to all and especially ann and suedonim. Much cooler this morning which is better for Ddog. I think rain would be appreciated by many at the moment. Just a quick drench.
Had lovely drive round the Scottish Borders yesterday and then babysitting in the evening. A late night so feeling in need of coffee this morning.
The Archers omnibus on. Bread to be made and cranberry scones.
No work this week so going to tackle all those "I must..." chores. Have stripped the sofa covers and they are drying on the line. Wishing all a good Sunday and those with worries find some peace.

Grandmabatty Sun 10-Jul-22 10:06:27

Kittylester that is a lovely photo of a beautiful young woman. Annsixty I can feel your disappointment. Nannytopsy ignoring a difficult neighbour is the best way to go, I expect. I was full of life at six o'clock this morning. I've watered the garden, done a wash and hung it out, showered and been to Aldi. There's a chicken roasting in the oven and I've had bacon rolls for breakfast. What next? I'm going to sit outside for a little while then wash the floors. I'll maybe make lemon drizzle cake in a bit. Have a good day kitcheners.

Dogsmakemesmile Sun 10-Jul-22 10:07:04

And best wishes of course to Soop. x

Blossoming Sun 10-Jul-22 11:49:24

Good morning dear Kitcheners, I shall try to keep up! The last of the laundry is out on the line, didn’t have time to dry yesterday and it’s too damp at night here to leave it out all night. Mr. B will be preparing bacon butties for brunch shortly. The sky is a beautiful shade of blue and I may attempt a short walk later.

Enjoy the tennis all you fans. I hope our poorly people are doing well x

MawtheMerrier Sun 10-Jul-22 12:00:03

I feel for your disappointment Annsixty - whether it is the venue or (sometimes) the company which fails to meet our expectations , it still knocks you back flowers

Jaxjacky Sun 10-Jul-22 12:21:17

Afternoon, glorious day here.
Not what you expected annsixty I really hope today is better for you.
Stunning kitty.
SueD and soop hope you’re improving.
I’ve watered our friends allotment, cooked beetroot, marinaded chicken (hand is now tandoori scented), hung washing out and showered. Very little else will now be done.
Love shallots muse my favourite for pickling.
Enjoy your afternoon if possible

gillgran Sun 10-Jul-22 13:02:39

That's a great photo of your DGD, kittylester, I love the floral crown.
Sorry that your meal out was disappointing, annsixty, just when you needed cheering up. I hope you feel the care from this friendly thread.

It's good to see Urms & Maw* back among friends here.

Another scorcher here in Cambs., sunshine,

Our 2 youngest DGDs (5 & nearly 8) have gone off to Paris & Disney today, (with their parents, of course!!). A delayed trip from Easter when their passport renewals were delayed.
Their school finished last Wednesday, so able to go now.

Tennis again today, the men's final, in fact there are two men's singles finals today. (are you umpiring again, soop?, I hope you are feeling better).
Also the Austrian Grand Prix, better luck for local(ish), George Russell today, & our other British drivers too.

Warm wishes to you all, especially those with added worries.

soop Sun 10-Jul-22 13:36:02

WELCOME back, dear Urms

kitty Your granddaughter is a beautiful young lady. She could be the Queen of July. Her photograph now hangs in our special gallery.

Jax PLEASE share some of your boundless energy with this little old lady.

Blossoming Did you mention bacon butties? My mouth is watering with anticipation.
Grandmabatty and lemon drizzle cake to follow. Let joy be unconfined.

Dogsmakemesmile Since you are feeling the urge to do those "must do" jobs, may I remind you that I have a very long list of outstanding "to dos" and wouldn't mind a helping hand, when you have a window.

gillgran Let's say that I shall be watching the final but not rooting for either player. Had it been Rafa, Roger, Andy or Cam...well, that would be a very different matter. wink

annsixty So sorry to hear of your disappointment. As you so rightly say...that's life.

I fell on the drive this morning. Managed to bruise my hand but no real damage done. The right knee let me down. We did go for our usual walk, so no complaints.

Nannytopsy Silly old so and so. Not you. The nosey neighbour with her knickers in a twist.
Mr S pressure washed the paintwork outside yesterday. There is an improvement but water did seep on to the sitting room window ledge. No harm done. All looking hunky dory right now.

Blossoming Sun 10-Jul-22 13:46:51

Love the photo Kitty what a beautiful young lady. All you busybees are making me feel guilty (not really grin). Hope it wasn’t a bad fall Soop, you have my sympathies.

Bacon butties consumed, off for a short walk now before it gets even hotter.

ShazzaKanazza Sun 10-Jul-22 14:39:33

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. I didn’t get posted yesterday with looking after our DGD.
She’s had a thoroughly lovely time. She didn’t want to go home this morning. DS came over with GS and had lunch but then GS wanted to go. His daddy was going to blow his paddling pool up for him. He slides down the slide into the pool.

Kitty your GD is so beautiful. What a fresh faced young lady. She looks so relaxed in the picture.

Soop I’m sorry you’ve fallen. Hope your hand isn’t too bruised.

I have tennis on only because DH has nodded off so switched off the movie we had on. I’m hoping to have a nap but I can’t relax like DH can. I’m notorious for not being able to switch off. My DH says I’m like a Meerkat

I didn’t even know what Kyrigos looked like. He reminds me of Ashley Banjo from Diversity. Lovely to see Prince George I bet he wishes he can take his jacket off ?
Speak soon everyone and all your activities, family gatherings and meals sound fantastic. ??

dustyangel Sun 10-Jul-22 15:11:16

I have a new hero, Alfie Hewitt, the very close runner up in the Mens wheelchair singles.

dustyangel Sun 10-Jul-22 15:19:35

And Kitty, before I catch up on several pages of kitchen news I have to also comment on what a beautiful young lady your DG is, actually all kitchen grandchildren seem to be exceptionally intelligent and good looking young people. I expect they inherit this from their grandmothers.wink

Nannytopsy Sun 10-Jul-22 17:36:48

Of course that’s the case Dusty !

kittylester Sun 10-Jul-22 18:50:43

Naturally!! Definitely their intelligence but she is an exceptionally talent artist (my dad) and looks like her mum who takes after DH's mum! My side are incredibly attractive of course. Sadly out of 5 children, only one looks like me!!
