Ah well, there had to be a fly in the ointment, didn’t there? Ds has gone down with a non-Covid bug and spent the day in bed today. Still, we did quite a bit with DIL and the GC, having brunch out, taking them to see where our new home with be and then taking them to my son-in-law’s farm, which they loved!

Hope tomorrow brings about a recovery for ds - he’s a very dramatic patient when he’s ill. Can’t imagine where he gets that from. ?

Stay safe everyone, it’s ‘only’ going to be 32 here but I know some of you will be absolutely cooking. TOYA.

I’m just coming to sit in the shade of the kitchen terrace for a while, it’s about 24º in Inverness with wall to wall sunshine, hope everyone with hot temperatures is doing ok, there’s a jug of iced water on the side with some oranges

We’ve been looking after the DGC today, they both had swimming lessons planned this morning followed by a picnic at the gardens near the river. I think the heat must have been getting to them, they were quite hard work today. 7 year old DGD who is usually very good refused to get into the water for her lesson. Point blank refused and no amount of coaxing or anything was making any difference. I think everyone was watching us and trying not to giggle. I just had to give up in the end ?‍♀️ Her mum and dad are going to ‘talk to her’ tonight and I think we’re trying again tomorrow as the lessons are on all week. DGS did his lesson ok but then they were both squabbling over what was in their lunch boxes. The joys!

Good evening dear Kitcheners. At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, I’m hot! I’ve done all the laundry, drying in the sunshine. It’s quite cool in the front of the house as the sun moves round to the back by lunchtime. We have a large and reasonably quiet pedestal fan on the first floor landing stirring the air. Lots of water being drunk here too. Mr. B has been feeding me slices of frozen ?, I think he may be a keeper

I went to lie on top of the bed this afternoon. My tummy feels queasy and 'though the ironing is piled high, it remains untouched.

Tomorrow morning I've an appointment with the audiologist. Having both hearing aids attended to as one has an irritating whistle. Mr S also has an appointment with the optician. I may be a little late popping into the kitchen.

It is too warm (for me). I cannot imagine how our Gransnetters and family are coping with the red heatwave alert in England. I would pass out.

I spent the morning in a fabulously air conditioned room and was really unprepared for the heat when I came outside.

I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry but the scantily clad bottom poking out of the fridge is mine...I couldn't think of any other way of cooling myself down...I couldn't repeat last week's trip to Aldi...I can't afford to be banned as I need easy access to their Chenin Blanc in all weathers. A few weeks ago I had the brilliant idea of remodelling our new garden.... A new decked area ( completed and looking fabulous). New border areas ( work in progress..but the completed ones are just blooming).... New fences and an 8 ft wide gate..and the moving of the man cave ( large shed). The latter were happening today.... the hottest bloody ( sorry again) day ever known to mankind. DOH kept saying he would set to and empty the shed over the weekend but he was still in a lot of discomfort after his naked flying acrobat session last Thursday so I told him he couldn't.. Sooooo this morning finds me man handling the contents of the aforesaid man cave ... Now do not read this post to any DH's DS or DSL as they will join forces with my DOH and proclaim yes it is necessary to have 2 BBQ s...and a little bucket thing for toasting marshmallows...4 spready things for plastering in various sizes...a multitude of implements for any DIY that might ever occur in their lifetime...a spare knob for the parasol ( a rude word did escape upon chancing on that)..log roll stakes whatever they might be...2 lawn mowers and 2 boxes that looked like something a magician might fold his assistant into before sawing her in half.... They weighed like they still had her inside them. Apparently they are vital tool boxes. All had to be moved onto the lawn..Ladies I was melting from the eyebrows down... The sweat made my eye make up run
in riverlets down my face ( I already had a bloodshot eye from poking my contact lens in too hard). The sun was so bright and hot I actually couldn't open my eyes properly even with sunglasses on... Every so often I staggered into the house past the dogs who took one look at me and ran for the safety of the sitting room while I swallowed a huge glass of juice like contestant in a yard of ale competition.. Returning through gritted teeth to continue to plunge the depths of DOH's other life once more. So I am sorry if my derriere offends you but the alternative was a melted pool that once was me.

PS. We've just found out that friends have decided to pay us a surprise visit... Arriving Thursday. I hope they are good at assault courses. I am now going to have a glass or 5 of wine. Cheers...Slainte or bottoms up.....well maybe not the last one. Lol

Other than walking Rosie at 6.30 I have not stirred out of the house all day, except to hang some washing out and that was so hot, I legged it back inside as quickly as I could!
I have read, dozed, fiddled with a Platinum Jubilee jigsaw I have had on the go since Will was here and not much else.

I was glad to hear that youngest D and Otis and the baby had escaped to Suffolk for three days , 40C in Walthamstow will have been no joke, especially with tinies.

Hi all from south Hampshire, boy it’s sweaty warm, thank goodness for our chiller unit, good job the smart meter display is hidden. Have been out only to hang washing, retrieve washing and a community meeting at 3, hot. Now at 30, it’ll be a long night, fan will be deployed, I have 4 burgers to cook, not yet.
Bum Sue hopefully a brief virus and a swift recovery. Get better soop and may your ears be restored to normality.

I’ve just (8pm) Googled the BBC weather app. It said 23°C in Malaga and 31°C here in Urmston! We are in the red zone.
I’m melting.

That said, like Maw I’ve been nowhere. On the plus side (will be ‘plus size’ too soon enough at this rate) I’ve discovered delicious Aldi mint & chocolate ice cream - £1.99 a tub....

26° here in Polmont still and very humid. I hope those of you in the red zone can get some relief as it's bad enough here. I have been lazy today. I had my hair cut this morning, then I watered the garden and washed the floors but that's all. You'll be happy to hear Cornergran!
Tomorrow I will be even lazier. A possible walk to Aldi for some salad stuff and watering the garden again. No ban here yet. Soop I hope you feel better soon. A cool shower ahead I think, before bed. Good night kitcheners.

We went out to the coast today which was fresher and cooler. According to the car, the temperature was 37C on the way back. At least it should cool after tomorrow.

It was 37°C at 5pm.?Done nothing today it’s crazy I’ve been on a boat in 40° in Greece, It felt nothing like this.All our grandsons schools have closed so at least they are happy.

Not in the red zone it’s been hot enough, 34 this afternoon and hovering around 25 now which I don’t mind. Our normal sea breeze/howling gale has deserted us just when we need it . An after breakfast walk by the beach and a coffee outside a little cafe enjoying the sea view set me up for the day. I’ve been pretty industrious with computer things while Mr C has watched a couple of films. It was pleasant enough outside this evening so out I went with my iPad to read.

You made me laugh naughtyneine, it’s the sort of thing that would happen here. You’re a marvel for doing it all. Hope tomorrow is less fraught.

All your good wishes worked and my ds was much better today. Thankfully, not Covid, just a common-or-garden bug.

It was DD’s first day back at work after Mat Leave today so we all departed the house and took the children en masse to the cinema. A minions film. None of it made sense to me but the baby was v good until just before the end when he and I departed and sought sanctuary in the positively chilly food section of M&S.

Then back home, tea time for the small people then baths and showers for all the mucky pups.

Tomorrow I need to visit my mother who is still in hospital. I’ve bought her a simple mobile phone but setting up the sim has been a nightmare, as it won’t let me top it up with credit.

Morning everyone, I hope you managed some sleep. It's much cooler here in Scotland (a generalization I know) so not too bad. Sun is hidden behind grey clouds. Keep thinking there will be a storm. Ddog enjoyed early walk in forest. Took him out just now for ten mins. Cats flat out under/on beds.
Little planned for today. Tea is made (loads of salads). Have made bread dough and will freeze loaves once baked. Did a Waitrose order.

Back from appointments. I have also completed the ironing. It is awfully muggy but a few drops of rain have fallen recently.

As I closed with my farewell message yesterday I suddenly felt proper poorly. Just managed to make it to the bathroom and was sick. My stomach remains "iffy" but nowhere near a bad as yesterday.

I haven't much news to share with you today. I hope that those of you in the red hot areas of England are coping well. Family in the midlands are roasting. Far from pleasant. Tomorrow's temperatures promise to be cooler.

I send warmest good wishes to you all. When I return tomorrow, I hope to feeling more bouyant. Is that the correct spelling? If not, you know what I mean.

Soop I hope you have recovered today. I had a visit from dd and the boys this afternoon. It was too hot to play outside so playing trains it was on the living room floor. I'm having salad later but I might have a lie down on the bed and read for a while. I hope all you kitcheners are able to survive this awful heat.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I’m feeling like a wrung out dishrag right now, but it’s starting to cool down at last! The penultimate Diabetes Prevention Program Zoom meeting went very well but we were all struggling with the heat! I’ve lot a total of 3.7kgs, which I think is just over half a stone, since starting the program. Not a dramatic weight loss but going in the right direction. Really hoping my blood sugar level is down next time it’s tested.

Glad the appointments went well Soop, hope your tum settles soon. I’m struggling to eat much when it’s this hot!

Hello everyone. I have not stepped outside at all today. I did a bit of WI admin this morning and some laundry. It is OH’s turn to do dinner. Smoked salmon and salad with strawberries and cream for pudding, is on the menu. Thunder and lightning is forecast but it hasn’t arrived yet!
