A very well done blossoming that’s a great achievement ?

mrshat Tue 19-Jul-22 17:28:01

We've touched on 40 degrees here on the Herts/Bucks border! It has been and still is unbearable. Currently 37 and rain is coming! However, there's not a cloud in the sky .....................
Keep safe everyone.

Blossoming Tue 19-Jul-22 17:32:59

Thank you Brook, I shall keep using the things I have learned as they’re not difficult. Just being aware of one’s choices, really.

Hello Kitcheners.
That’s such excellent news about the weight loss Blossoming. It’s a great start.
I do hope you’re feeling better today soop. Aren’t gunnera just the best for structural plants. I’d never been up close to one before until we went to Trebah Gardens this year.

Our 1/2 hr of rain this morning in mid Cornwall has freshened the air slightly. It’s been a pleasant 26 degrees with a slight breeze this afternoon . Had a lovely chat with DD last night. She’s got her flat lovely and cool with two fans and only venturing out early and late in the day to walk her dog. Fortunately she’s working from home most of this week. She lives in one of the high red zones!

Still no call for MrMuse about his hernia op. Before the end of July was the last message.

My DS will be moving into his extortionately high rented house soon. Hope it is a cooler day for him.

MawtheMerrier Tue 19-Jul-22 18:22:59

???Blossoming - it doesn’t come off nearly as easily as it goes on, so respect!
I hope Soop is feeling better by now.
Despite counselling against ironing- when I realised I had a basketful of t shirts I set to and did some ironing out of desperation. Had to give up though as I was feeling sick so I went back to bed for two hours! Rosie too is finding it too much - she is lying panting at my feet, in a direct line to the fan, but I’m not sure it’s enough.
Please, please let it cool down a bit, I could not do less than I am doing and my heart goes out to those who have to be out and about.

Grandmabatty Tue 19-Jul-22 19:05:59

Well done Blossoming! It's very difficult to take weight off.

Blossoming Tue 19-Jul-22 19:13:59

Thank you Maw and Grandmabatty

Jaxjacky Tue 19-Jul-22 19:26:37

Another one here impressed Blossoming you must be chuffed to bits.
Cooling down a bit here now with a lovely breeze, we’re not in the storm area predicted, sadly. Grandson has a virus, been checked out, hopefully recovered by Thursday when school breaks up.
I’ve done diddly squat today, tomorrow is MrJ’s 60th, I’ll be cooking duck (a cooler day thank goodness), with dauphinoise and must catch up on house jobs.
Hope you’ve improved tomorrow soop
Enjoy your evening all x

Nannytopsy Tue 19-Jul-22 20:49:16

Get well soon soop and I hope everyone can get some sleep tonight. At least it should be better tomorrow.
I have done some PCC stuff ready for a meeting tomorrow, but the printer is playing up. I think the heads have dried in the heat. The new cartridges are the wrong size so I am a bit stuck.
Ho hum.
Sleep well everyone

Yiayia4 Tue 19-Jul-22 21:11:23

Well done Blosssoming a real achievement.
Hope you feel better soon Soop.
Nice to see you Muse.
It’s been the magic 40° today but now we’ve just had rain ? already feeling better. We looked after Oscar today. He was happy playing with Lego and eating ice creams.
Have a cool evening everyone sleep well.

cornergran Tue 19-Jul-22 21:14:00

Decent if warm day here. An early morning sea front visit saw us sitting for ages by the sea wall with cuppas. It was very windy and felt comfortable. A small shower at lunch time freshened the air. I’ve waded through some admin, Mr C has found pottering to do. We’ve had a chat with a son and generally relaxed. 34 degrees outside this morning, it’s dropped to 21 now, very comfortable

Get well soon soop, hope you’re more comfortable tomorrow. That gunnera is truly majestic. A real achievement Blossoming, I’m just a teeny bit envious. You sound exhausted maw, hope it’s cooler for you tomorrow. An advance happy birthday to your husband jax. 60? I think I can remember it grin. Hope that date arrives soon muse. Mr C is due an echocardiogram. Told today a four month waiting list. Oh dear.

Hoping for a restful night for us all. TOYA.

Blossoming Tue 19-Jul-22 21:16:49

Thank you Muse, Jax and Yia. It took me a while to get into a routine that works for me and I am feeling happy that it’s paying off.

Goodnight all, hope everyone manages some sleep tonight

Blossoming Tue 19-Jul-22 21:18:01

Crossed posts Cornergran, thanks for your kind words.

Urmstongran Tue 19-Jul-22 22:00:45

‘Evening All’

I’m still melting. Like many on here, I’ve had enough of all this now.

Well don’t Blossoming.
I did well, lost 7lbs, went to Ibiza, lost my appetite and found a donkey’s. Put it back on again.

brook2704 Tue 19-Jul-22 22:40:12

Hope your DGS is a bit better tomorrow Jax and the virus doesn’t last long. Also a very Happy Birthday to your DH for tomorrow- such a youngster at only 60! ???

We’ve just had heavy thundery rain for half an hour here in Inverness - much cooler now and everything freshened up ?

SueDonim Wed 20-Jul-22 00:27:50

Exhausting day here. I looked after the baby most of the day while his mum worked, which involved lugging said baby to see my mum in hospital, then up to her house to sort some things for her, then try and get keys cut, which didn’t happen due to the most spectacularly unhelpful man in the world, then back to the hospital to take things from the house to mum.

Quick pit stop for a coffee then back to my DD’s house before going out for tea at 5:30 with everyone (ten in total). Our GD wanted to come in my car but it took three tries to even get off the driveway, first attempt was halted due to Bunny not being with us, second attempt stopped short because GD now needed a wee. Third time lucky. And I accidentally went through a red traffic light on the way home. Have never done that in 45yrs of driving. sad

Tomorrow, instead of spending our final day with ds & family, I’ve got to go and buy rubber gloves and bin bags and clear out the rubbish in my mum’s house.

Grandmabatty Wed 20-Jul-22 08:12:48

Suedonim I'm exhausted just reading the account of your day! And it sounds stressful too.

MawtheMerrier Wed 20-Jul-22 10:29:24

I hope this is legible- made laugh!

MawtheMerrier Wed 20-Jul-22 10:34:23

Try again

annodomini Wed 20-Jul-22 10:53:13

Thanks Maw, some of my friends and family need to see this !

dustyangel Wed 20-Jul-22 11:09:34

Love that Maw

gillgran Wed 20-Jul-22 15:51:16

Gave me a chuckle, thanks Maw. smile.

Blossoming, well done, I found your post interesting, as I attended my (zoom) "Healthier You, NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme" meeting last Wednesday. It was the 3rd, (of 13), session. Mine started 5 weeks ago, I missed the 2nd one as we had a memorial that day. They go on until next April!! were yours so spread out?
I was referred early June following a blood test last September..!!

I really hope we get a more comfortable night, tonight. 28 sounds good after yesterday's 40, but still feels mighty Hot. & not a drop of rain..

I hope you are feeling better soop.
How tiny you look, dwarfed by your gunnera.!

soop Wed 20-Jul-22 16:37:41

Dear Blossoming I am well impressed.

Dicky tummy is slowly recovering. I foolishly decided to tidy the wardrobes after lunch. Why? Because I'm as daft as brush without bristles. hmm

Bed heaped high with stuff that needs a good sort through. Several pairs of jeans for trying on because some will still fit and others won't. Charity shop will reap the benefit in due course.

I shall catch up with you lovely lot tomorrow. Mr S has an appointment for a scan on his AAA. Oban hospital next week.

Back to try to make some sense of the clutter in the bedroom. For sure, by the time I've finished, I shall be both knackered and relieved to have accomplished something that has needed attention for several weeks.

Sweetie Pie called in for breakfast.

Last night's sunset was something special. Here it is for all our Kitcheners. smile moon

soop Wed 20-Jul-22 16:41:34

No pics. Try again...

Naughtyneine Wed 20-Jul-22 16:46:49

Well done Blossoming...and commiserations Urms... We've all been there.
Soop... you look just like I imagined you would...and thank you for putting on the picture of the Gunnera... I've an awful feeling that's what I flung in one of the new borders a few weeks back... which will have to be moved very soon if anything around it is ever to be seen again. I hope you are feeling much better now too.
SueD...I have those days too... The twin GS always needed a wee just as we were too far to go back home and demanded to wee on Neine's wheels. !!! but one day the trouble was watching 2 little boys who obviously had bladders the size of petrol tanks widdling like they had not been near a loo for days made my post menopausal post hysterectomy bladder decide it wanted to join in...But I'll never be going back to that particular M and S again. Having driven with my thighs firmly gripped together ( not easy) I skidded on 2 wheels into the car park. Grabbed a twin by a hand each and fled into the customer loo. I had been praying the disabled one would be free but it wasn't .. So into a miniscule cubicle we flew... Now I never ever sit on a toilet seat away from home so with strict instructions to the boys to keep facing the door I proceeded to do the squat... My relief at having a. Not wet myself and b. Not to lose a child along the way knew no bounds and for an instant I must have closed my eyes as to my horror twin GS1 had decided he needed a closer inspection of Neine's HeMan stance and peered round the back of me and shouted out very loudly....Neine you're weeing out your bum. !!!!!!! It took me at least 5 minutes to slowly pull up my pants and do up my jeans to make sure everyone who heard him had left the cloakroom. That was a hard lesson learnt.... But I think we were only about half and hour late that day.
The latest on the man cave evacuation is that currently the contents are spread across the lawn with acrobatic DOH saying he will have to put it all back in before our friends arrive so they can see how lovely the decking and garden look....I think my face said quite clearly what I was thinking...as he then said...'Well let's see how it goes'....
Wise move methinks.
