Soop's comforting kitchen for the sharing of...
(1001 Posts)WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.
Good afternoon kitcheners. I'm late to the party because of a horrible headache this morning and then an unexpected visit from dd and the boys this afternoon. I'm loving the pop in visits. Soop Willow is just gorgeous. Muse the brownies look amazing! I've been busy playing. Dgs1 could hear my neighbour in his garden so wanted held up to say hello. He then wanted him to come and play. My neighbour's lovely wife came out with a massive fire engine to give to dgs1. Her great grandson wasn't interested. What lovely neighbours I have! Half of the toys in my garden have been gifted by one or another. I'm very fortunate. Baked potato with the last of the gammon and salad for dinner. Have a good evening Kitcheners.
Hope the cleaners do a good job SueD, it’s a very sad task to do.
Very nice cake Muse thank you.
Just back from a new hairdressers, very pleased,a new cut and colour, I am very fussy but this one is a keeper.
Have a good evening Kitcheners.
Willow is beautiful Soop. And a beautiful name.
Late again. I will blame the heat. Getting almost to cardigan weather at times though at other points of the day the sun is blazing. Ddog and I choose our times. Working tomorrow so being super organised today.
Take care.
What a beautiful baby Willow is!
Blossoming my apologies for not saying thank you for your kind words on the Good Morning thread. They were appreciated.
Hello the kitchen! We have been to a display about a proposed new development near to our very rural village. Why build a site which will have 290 vehicle movements everyday ( mostly car transporters) 10 miles from the nearest dual carriageway??
Speak to our MP do you say? Doormatt as the Guardian calls him! Oh dear, we didn’t come here for this!
Lovely Willow! ?
Décision made llfl quick, throw the sample pots away now! It sounds stunning, best of luck with your talk.
Lovely Willow soop no chance of babies in our family for quite a while.
Impromptu visits are the best Grandmabatty hope your headache has long gone.
Definitely a keeper Yia sounds like you’ve found a diamond.
I was on the phones sorting out lifts for those in need today, so a bit tied to the house, but gave my friend, who’s been in Canada a lift to pick up his now fixed car
Tomorrow, early evening, MrJ flies off to Belfast for the annual family golf day, as one of 9, with 6 brothers and extended family, it’s just a wee bit competitive! He flies from Southampton, 20 minutes away and is back Sunday evening, hope the predicted storms come earlier in the day, we do need the rain.
Enjoy your evening all x
Good evening dear Kitcheners I’ve had a quick catch up with your news.
First a very happy belated birthday to Mr Jax ?
Soop Willow is a beautiful little angel.
Grannmarie so lovely to hear about DH joining in the play fun now he’s feeling better and long may it continue.
SueD how sad to see the way your dear Mum has lived you really should leave as much as you can to the cleaners. ?
Grandmabatty what a lovely neighbour you have I’m sure your GS will treasure the fire engine.
We returned from our three nights in London extended to four nights due to issues with trains. Lovely time but so so hot. I’ll miss the air conditioned hotel though. Heaven! We picked up GS from school and he was so excited to see us? we can’t wait to see our DGDs as well they are away in Whitby having a lovely time. Missed them all so much.
DH was in a bad mood when he saw what we’d lost in the garden. So he had to water straightaway. On the plus side we had some lovely runner beans, tomatoes and French beans to pick for tea.
Speak soon everyone good night TOYA xx
Naughtyneine you are at it again with your stories you crack me up so much?
I'm actually feeling a bit chilly Urms. I'd forgotten what it felt like!
It’s a lot cooler, I’m sat on the duvet, instead of under it though! I don’t like a warm bed, so contrary
Goodnight, sleep tight, don’t let the bugs bite!
Thank you for the wonderful sympathy extended to me in your posts. I can feel your warmth and understanding around me. ❤️
The cleaners have done half the task and will return later to do the rest. I was so worried they’d take one look and say ‘No way’ but they seem not to be daunted.
I don’t know whether mum will ever go back to her house or whether she’ll need to be cared for. Mentally she has full capacity, so it will depend on her physical condition, I guess. I don’t know how you go about sorting out things like care homes and with my own house move looming imminently and providing child care for my baby GS as well, there seems not enough hours in the day.
Oh well, tomorrow is another day! TOYA. XXX
Soop, Willow is a beautiful baby ?, such gorgeous eyes!
Thank you for the kind comments about DH and DGS2, Soop and Shazza.
Blossoming ?, you are so motivated on your exercise, well done, especially during all the heat!
Shazza, sorry you lost garden produce, you take such great care of your garden, but glad your London break went well.
Jaxjacky, hope MrJ enjoys his family golf day in Ireland.
Hope you're feeling better soon, Grandmabatty.
Suedonim, such a difficult time for you, take care of yourself, accept all available help. I hope you can enjoy time with your family from America, it'll do you a power of good.
I'm meeting a dear friend for a park walk tomorrow, looking forward to catching up. Things are slowly returning to some kind of normal, I'm very thankful.
TOYA, NNGB ? ?
Good morning - I know it is so long since I visited the kitchen but I had a very upsetting day yesterday and have always found coming here such a comfort.
We were on our way back from a trip with friends when my DH checked his emails.
There was an email from the golf club sent to all members saying he had died and the funeral is on Tuesday!
He sent one back immediately saying the news of his death was greatly exaggerated but meanwhile we arrived home to a plethora of answer phone messages expressing their condolences.
I also immediately texted our very good friends who didn’t know what to believe.
I suppose the upside was that he found out how much he was loved by so many people.
I still feel quite shaken.
It would seem another person with the same name had died.
I am sorry to only drop in at such times but you are all so lovely here - it feels a safe haven!
Oh, dragonfly, what a horrible experience for you both.
As you say, though, the upside was that your husband is clearly well loved.
I hope you feel a bit better about it as the day goes on .
What an awful shock that must have been Dragonfly. Have a restful day today.
What an awful shock dragonfly! Didn’t a fairly famous person read their obituary in a newspaper once?
Goodness drangonfly I’m not surprised you were upset.
That is dreadful Dragonfly but ??to your DH for taking it in good part with his response.
But more seriously, if it had been him, what were they thinking of sending that email?
What is even stranger Maw is that one of his friends thinking he had died rang him on his mobile! He got a shock when he answered!
That must have been surreal!
No wonder you feel shaken & upset, dragonfly. What a shock for you both.
I hope you soon feel better.
What an upsetting experience for you both, Dragonfly. Be gentle with yourselves, it's a strange opportunity to count your blessings. ??
