I like a dash of Worcestershire sauce,a small amount of dried mustard, grated cheese all mixed together with a small amount of milk.I like the sound of adding fried onions though.

(1001 Posts)WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.
Another vote for Worcestershire sauce here, and also a little mustard. Your version sounds delicious Susan, that may be today’s supper
I’m definitely having cheese on toast for my lunch today. I’ve got some Moroccan humous that needs using up I’ll spread that on first with cheese on top. Sounds odd but I’ll give anything a go.

Not mustard, urms, Worcestershire Sauce or Henderson's Relish.
We had a wee sprinkle of Worcestershire Sauce on ours. Always do.
Mustard in a cheese sauce though ?
Minibaggs has been sending us acreages of Whatsapp messages because she just happened to be walking past Holyrood Palace and noticed the guards were lined up and, looking through railings, she got a very blurry picture of the Queen and Prince Edward. I think she's going to fizz about it all day.
I think she found it all slightly unreal, having never expected to see the Queen, and just happening to be there at the right moment. It's something she can tell her grandkids even if we're a republic by then.
Hello, my lovelies. Pleased to hear that Baggs is feeling a little better.
Toasted cheese sandwiches are wonderfully uplifting. I used to add some whipped up egg and French mustard to the mix. The result, naturally, was totally calorie-free.
brook take a bow. You have made a first class job of sewing on all those badges. From hereon, you will be called upon to carry out similar tasks. You deserve a badge to sew on your own sleeve.
Urms MrS is very partial to a wee dram of Cardhu. You most certainly earned your treat.
hulahoop We all go through periods of not having much to say. I've recently felt a need to step back and take a breather. Not on Gransnet. Certainly on Facebook.
I sense the pride that you feel for your granddaughter. I send you best wishes for a relaxing holiday...no matter the weather, you will have a change of scene and routine. Relax.
Yia the wee house beside the sea looks idyllic. Your photos are lovely. Sorry to hear that you had a tumble. As you rightly say, it could have been worse. Do take care. Please.
Grandmabatty Your wee grandson's earache, like toothache, is a difficult pain to manage. It's at such times we grannies would gladly swap places and bear the pain on their behalf.
Nannytopsy I am a crumble and (lashings of) custard addict. Thank you.
The cardigan is gorgeous. A similar rich blue as the Scabious. Exciting times ahead for you and the family.
I shall add last night's sunset especially for you.

Wimbledon starts today.
All appliances will need recharging as I've no intention of even contemplating housework. Said like I mean it. Yet, something will almost certainly niggle away and I may decide to drag out the ironing board. I blame my Mother and Nana. They were possibly the most house-proud women on the planet.
Shazza Your husband deserved a mighty big hug for the lovingly made and beautifully presented tea time treat.
I apologise if I have not fully caught up with all your news. I am truly grateful that our kitchen remains what it was meant to be - a place for caring and sharing. thank you.
Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!
Thank you for your photos, Soop, you have a beautiful garden to relax in!
Grandmabatty, I hope your wee DGS is a bit better today, poor wee lamb. Would calamine help his sore ears? I remember Slapped Cheek being a Nursery ailment, along with Hand , Foot and Mouth.
(Not to be confused with Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!?)
Brook, Shazza and Hulahoop, what talented dancing grandchildren!
Baggs, I'm glad you are feeling better today. As Urms says, this friendly Kitchen is the perfect place to let it all out.
YiaYia, I hope you are OK now and enjoying the rest of your wonderful holiday, I love your photos!
Kitty, I hope your DD is comfortable at home today.
Lovely photos, Nannytopsy, the wee blue jacket is perfect. I found it very strange knitting in grey when DGS2 was born 2 years ago.
Jaxjacky, your family lunch sounds perfect, we love reminiscing too.
Susan⁹, that sounds very tasty!
Blossoming, you've been enjoying some lovely meals recently, they will build your strength up.
I'm making chicken curry for DH today, thankfully he hasn't lost his appetite. However, I have lost mine and found a horse's, I've been eating for Scotland since DH's collapse....
We had a nice visit with DGS2 and his Mummy and Daddy yesterday. The wee boy soon realised that his Papa wasn't fit for floor play, so he sat beside him on the sofa until he dozed off...DH that is, wee boy was telling us, 'Papa sleepy, Papa sleepy! ? '
TOYA.
Afternoon kitcheners. I have dgs2 at the moment and dd has taken dgs1 to the doctor. I °thought° I was getting peace but I can hear some babbling from the bedroom so he's awake.
Hello, soop & all you lovely kitcheners. More great photos, thank you.
The talk of food/meals is wonderful, (& how good it is that they are all calorie-free!
.)
Yesterday, for the first time for years, we had both our AC & all 5 DGC, all here for a BBQ lunch & afternoon.
Our DS & DGS had taken part in a local 10K run, (both did their own "personal-best's".)
We were happy, (if exhausted!), the DGC ages range from 5 to nearly 20, as is normal, they all lead busy lives, so it's very unusual to get them altogether.
Weather was just right, if a bit breezy, & we were able to be in the garden.
Today is our DS's 50th Birthday, where have those years gone?
Warm wishes to you all, especially those with extra worries & problems.
Just popping in for a coffee break, more housework done but unfortunately the big vacuum cleaner and the handheld both need recharging now
.
Chocolate fudge brownies on the side, help yourselves.
Blossoming Sad (not) that your big vacuum cleaner needs recharging. Thank you, I like chocolate fudge brownies. I have watched tennis. I have ignored a fine layer of dust. Therefore, I feel very holy.
gillgran A very happy 50th birthday to your dear son. Your family gathering sounds like the perfect treat. We hope very much to enjoy a similar gathering in August.
Grandmabatty The babbling coming from the bedroom is a comforting sound. Am I right?
It is sunny and warm. I should be sitting outside. However, the tennis has kept me rooted in my umpire's chair. Tut!
GP is to phone me tomorrow with blood results. On Thursday, the cancer consultant is to phone for a chat regarding the medication that has floored me recently. I shall need to continue keeping the offending hormone under control...just maybe there is a more palatable alternative. I have to continue taking it for the remainder of my life.
So, you lovely, kind Kitcheners, I shall take my leave for today. I have every intention of joining you again tomorrow. Special healing vibes for all those who feel poorly or have family concerns.

Soop it was indeed happy babbling. Dgs1 has a nasty ear infection and has been given a spray to sort it out. Dd was glad she had taken him to the doctor. He's not quite his usual self yet. We did play in grandma's garden for a while while dgs2 was sleeping to give mum peace. I'm having a seat now. Brook enjoy your holiday.
Hello everyone
OH is just finishing off a Waitrose Chinese for dinner. I don’t seem to have done much today. Waitrose, ironing, laundry and changing bedding. Tomorrow should be more interesting. Oh, I pre-booked an online course at the V&A starting in November on house interiors in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Good evening all. I didn’t get my toasted cheese as we had some delicious minestrone soup to eat up, with fresh wholemeal bread from the little bakery. I have pottered this afternoon and am going to play with some of my neglected art materials this evening. Not ‘proper’ art, just aimless doodling to see what comes out! I’m mixing various media to experiment.
I. hope the blood results are good soop and something can be sorted regarding the drugs.
Antibiotic sprays are usually very quick working on ear infections Grandmabatty so I hope the little one gets some relief now.
Have a lovely evening all, TOYA.
Good evening dear Kitcheners. Well we had a decent heavy shower today to water the garden so DH hasn’t had to do it.
My cheese on toast was lovely. My slices of toast i like are tiny with being gluten free but I spread on red pepper humous. Then roast tomatoes that I’d cooked last night and then slices of cheese and under the grill. Very nice!
We had GS from school. He was great apart from he threw his water flask in the air and it broke on the floor water everywhere. Usually he’s ready to go home when daddy comes but he was happy to stay a little longer so son was able to enjoy a beer with us.
Grandmabatty hope your grandson soon feels better with his spray. ?
Ladyleftfieldlover your course sounds very interesting indeed.
gillgran happy 50th birthday to your son. Where indeed does the years go. Family gatherings are just the best.
Grannmarie it’s so cute what your GS said about his sleepy grand papa. My thoughts with you and your DH?
Soop hope your blood results come back ok.
Hoping you tennis fans enjoy Wimbledon. Well done Emma and Cameron and come on Andy??
Wishing you all a lovely evening speak soon. TOYA ?x
How lovely gillgran to have all your family together. I love days like that with special memories made - I hope you had a really lovely time. Happy Birthday to your DS too ?
Hope the phone calls with the GP and consultant go well soop I’ve everything crossed for you
Thank goodness your DGS has got something to make him feel better grandmabatty I hope it works quickly for him
Your experimenting with art sounds good blossoming well done you for giving it a go - I’m not at all artistic although my mum was good at painting and went to many art classes and art holidays
We arrived in Plymouth earlier this evening after a good journey down from Inverness. The flight to Bristol was an hour or so late but it didn’t really matter. Tomorrow we’ll getting the train a bit further along and then walking approx 10 miles along the coast path to finish in Fowey. It’s a long story but we’ve been walking this long distance path in bits and bobs since before the pandemic and we want to finish it this year. The weather forecast isn’t looking great - wet and windy so it’ll be waterproofs on and hoods up - don’t think I’ll need my shorts just yet ?
Urms that’s funny, bet the technician says it all the time without realising !
Good Morning everyone. I hardly had a minute to do anything over the weekend and yesterday paid the price...I was so tired. I know they say it takes months for anaesthesia to get out of your system but I had forgotten how it can catch you out sometimes. I tried to line the last 2 planters but didn't get further than laying it all on the lawn before I had to give up and sit down. Eventually I had to give up and go to bed and slept most of the afternoon. I'm hoping today I'll have more energy.
Soop I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well today ( and Thursday).
Granmarie... I can definitely relate to a restorative sleep (see above for confirmation ?).
Grandmabatty...I do hope the spray has worked... Little ones ho down so quickly when they are poorly don't they? But equally they spring back up as quickly too.
Urmstongran....I always used to make my friends cry with laughter when describing my mammograms as follows..... There I am naked to the waist... With someone other than me manhandling my not so perky now boob onto an ice cold plate.. Then the (polite word...not) technician makes me assume a Prince Philip stance with one hand behind my back...and the other hand on top of the machine....she then proceeds to push some button that releases a descending trap that flattens my boob to something resembling a scotch pancake....and then she utters those immortal words 'Dont Move'.... as if I could... In standing like I'm about to do a Highland fling and my boob is attached to a ton of machinery ...What does she think I am...a female version of one of those men that pull aeroplanes for fun. Just as I'm about to pass out from the pain the trap door opens and my newly shaped breast is released..... Sadly if I still want a matching pair I have to go through the whole thing on the other side too. !!!

Good luck with your walk. It is blustery down here in the South West today but hopefully the rain will stay away until later. I always hoped to be able to do the Pembrokeshire coastal path but think it's probably not going to happen now.
It's hard sometimes isn't it to realise that there isn't as much time ahead as there is behind ...
So on that note I'm wishing everyone a happy Tuesday filled with things that bring you joy.
Urms you did make me laugh. But I do hope all goes well.
Blood tests acceptable. A bit of jiggery pokery adjusting one of the meds. Opinion points to hormonal imbalance. Therefore, I await discussion with the cancer consultant on Thursday.
I shall catch up with you all later this afternoon. I am needed for umpiring duties at Wimbledon. Was thrilled with Andy's performance on court yesterday evening.
(hugs)
Small step of (hopefully) progress for you, soop. Hope things your hormonal imbalance can be resolved at the Thursday discussion ?
Yassas to all. good luck with your results today Soop
Grandmabatty *earache is nasty, hope your GS is feeling better.Enjoy your holiday *Brooke
It is very very hot here (zesto) getting hotter every day and busy.Very glad we didn’t come any later as it’s been just right,July and August will be mad.
Lunch today and a happy Greek cat had a share.?⬛
Thank you, Baggs. I'm tired of feeling totally knackered. Like a number of us.
Yia Delicious looking lunch. A super looking cat.
Sweetie Pie called at breakfast time. Departed after four pouches of best quality cat food. I ask you.
Naughtyneine If chaps had to put their "bits" into a similar vice...they would most certainly make a hell of a lot of fuss.
brook When we lived in Cornwall, many years ago, I managed a wee shop in Fowey. At the time, it was called 'The Romantic Englishwoman'. It was in Fore Street.
I have enjoyed the tennis. Right now, Rafa is playing. I shall therefore return to my umpire's chair to keep an eye on fair play.
Sun is shining. Wind is wild. Waves are skittish. I shall make a brew.
Love to you all.

Hello ? everyone, nice to be back , had a couple of days at the seaside in Sheringham, now back home ? and working on the vegetable patch in the garden x
