Oh, I almost forgot! Mr B bought some gingerbread men from our lovely local bakery earlier. Help yourself smile

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Jun-22 17:26:05

Love gingerbread*Blossoming*! Thanking you. I've had a nice day. I visited mum this morning and she was dressed which is a big step forward. She was also chatty. Then I visited a friend who told me of plans for my birthday in September. Her and her partner are taking me to pitlochry to the theatre. Then out for dinner then we are staying in a nice hotel overnight. I look forward to it already. Then I visited dd and the boys. Dgs1 is a sad wee individual. He has such a sore ear and a sore bit on his nose too. He was very emotional and easily upset. Dd has hurt her shoulder and she was grumpy and dgs2 is teething! Oh dear. We went for a walk to the park and the fresh air helped. I've had a bowl of minestrone soup and a sandwich as I wasn't too hungry. Soop I hope Andy is doing well. I'm scared to look as I think I'm a curse! Have a good evening Kitcheners.

We had a lovely trip to a local NT house. The gardens are magnificent and we could smell the roses. OH loves to pop in the house and look at the Burne Jones mural in the dining room, so we did that. Afterwards we had a delicious cream tea. A pot of tea each (OH always has Earl Gray), two scones each, clotted cream and jam. All for £9. Bargain. I bought a purple geranium for the Conservatory. It’s OH’s turn to cook and we’ll watch the final of the Sewing ?.

Nearly had an attack of the vapours watching the tennis. Norrie's opponent was having his thighs massaged.......ooh Matron!!!

ShazzaKanazza Wed 29-Jun-22 18:10:18

Sue how amazing for your DD to find that bat in her sink. I’d love that but I imagine it was a shock. I don’t think I’ve seen a bat close up before.

Dogsmakemesmile what disco music did you play? I was a 70s disco girl. Love all that music. Miss my flares!

Blossoming definately ring up very soon and find out what’s happening. Then you’ll know where you are. ? you have enough to worry about and them not ringing when they say they would isn’t good. You need reassurance x

Grandson was on good form tonight but wanted to go as soon as his Dad got here.

Have a good evening everyone enjoy the tennis if you are watching it.
Speak soon x ?

ShazzaKanazza Wed 29-Jun-22 18:11:44

Pittcity ? what are you like. I saw that too.

Hello everyone, I have caught up with six pages of kitchen life and still have two to go but found that I was skimming rather than reading properly and so I will catch up properly tomorrow.

I can’t remember individual names although I love catching up with you all and enjoyed Urm’s cake and the sound of Baggs’ Welsh Rabbit. I can’t eat bread, I wonder if it would work on Ryvita! I hope you are over your cold Baggs and feeling physically and mentally a lot better.

I’ve had a couple of spells of feeling utterly drained and exhausted recently myself and eventually made myself make an appointment and saw the doctor yesterday and have two and a bit A4 pages of blood tests to have. We have to go to a separate clinic here and DH says they’ll take at least two armfuls of blood this time instead of the usual one! wink I must remember to drink even more water in the morning than I usually do.

It might be too close in time at the moment for anyone suffering from cancer or if their loved ones are but I’ve just read a surprisingly uplifting novel about a 29 year old diagnosed with Breast cancer and her life during treatment and beyond.
It’s called Single Bald Female by Laura Price. I got it on kindle but don’t want to lose this post so I’ll look for the price later.

Thank you soop for starting this lovely kitchen, it makes a word of difference sometimes. sunshine

The book I recommended is still available on kindle books for 99p.

‘Evening All’

I’m so full I could burst. Greedy me. I made a beef stew on the hob which was more than just edible then, to use up some strawberries I asked Himself to nip into the larder (Sainsbury’s downstairs) for a small tub of double cream. Afterwards, Gannet that I am this evening, I’ve just opened a bag of Thornton’s Gingers. I’ve eaten 4 already ...
??

And worse, I sneaked into the bedroom to do this quietly, as didn’t want to share them, reasoning Himself doesn’t appreciate them anyway as much as me. How piggy am I? ?

I need to go to Piglets Anonymous, stand up and say ‘my name is Urmstongran’.

Susan56 Wed 29-Jun-22 19:20:20

Urms I’ll join you at Piglets Annonymous.I have just secretly scoffed two of B’s Freddos, the only chocolate in the house.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 29-Jun-22 19:23:01

Urms naughty naughty but those Thorntons gingers sound divine I’ve never had those but love anything ginger. Mmm might have to get some.

Blossoming yummy gingerbread men but need gluten free if you can get me some. x

Soop our little frog popped up to say hello again so I gave his little head a stroke then he popped under again so cute! Our GD would have loved that.

Megs36 Wed 29-Jun-22 19:28:13

Gdday friends, interesting talk of lovely Fowey, guess many of you knowthatalso Daphne du Maurer was from that area, there is a museum in the town devoted to her. Many of her novels are based round the West Country.

Urmstongran Wed 29-Jun-22 19:34:47

Here they are Shazza. Beware. They are very moreish.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 29-Jun-22 19:38:28

DH would love them as well he loves dark chocolate. I’ll get some when I see them. x

muse Wed 29-Jun-22 19:48:20

Hello kind kitcheners. Just managed to pick a huge tub of sugar snap peas for tonight's dinner before torrential rain hit us. Never two days a like at the moment.

Ladyleftfieldlover I shall be watching the final too. Sewing Bee is a delight to watch.

Hello dustyangel. Good to see you again. I hope all goes well with the many blood tests and they give the answer to the tiredness.

Just nibbled the leg of my gingerbread man Blossoming. Thank you. Don't hesitate with that call.

I can recommend the gingers Urms loves. They are in my top three Thornton's favourites. Covered in dark chocolate. Yum. I used to work close to their factory in Alfreton. Many of the parents of children in our school worked there and we would get a regular supply of seconds. The chocolate gingers were rarely in the box. Hmm..

Do you know what you will be watching at the theatre Grandmabatty ? Fantastic birthday treat.

Take care all.

muse Wed 29-Jun-22 19:49:37

X post Urm ?

Baggs Wed 29-Jun-22 19:51:35

Thank you, dusty. I think the cold went the way of mild colds though I'm still sneezing and blowing my nose – probably hay fever. Hay ho (sorry!) grin. But I'm wondering now if I've been suffering cold turkey as well cos I forgot to request a repeat prescrip last week for something I take for some of the pain plagues and ran out on Friday. That'll teach me!

Odd though cos I've done deliberate stops of this thing before, as advised by GP, to check if it's actually working, without all the weird symptoms I've had over the last few days, so I'm not sure what has been going on.

This evening after eating venison and beluga dal and cabbage I feel a lot better than I have all day but my boss says I've to take tomorrow off. So I shall.

Perhaps my new dog thumb stick, hand-carved on a Welsh hill farm has helped. She is called Dyfi, as in Dyfi Valley of Aberdovey fame. Isn't she lovely?

Blossoming Wed 29-Jun-22 19:54:48

I’m sure they would make gluten free if I asked Shazza smile

Urms I adore Thornton’s dark chocolate caramels and have been known to scoff a whole bag in record time! My birthday is coming up soon so I feel we need to make another visit to Kennedy’s in Orton.

Urmstongran Wed 29-Jun-22 20:17:16

My problem is we have a Thornton’s downstairs in the square. I can nip down for a bag and be back up in 5 minutes.

Oink! ?

Urmstongran Wed 29-Jun-22 20:19:22

muse ?

Urmstongran Wed 29-Jun-22 20:21:32

Baggs ❤️ Your stick. That dog has a very cute face doesn’t he? I can see why you chose him. It.

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Jun-22 20:32:53

Muse We have tickets for a play called 'Noises Off.' It's very funny.

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Jun-22 20:35:01

Urms I love chocolate ginger biscuits. But being a diabetic person I try to resist.

Urmstongran Wed 29-Jun-22 20:37:41

Me too GrandmaBatty.
