No, not a new light BBC detective drama starring him from Midsomer Murders and her from something else that may have had Martin Clunes in it.

This is a virtual trip for Grans cruising along the Cote D’Azur on the luxury yacht Aresteas. We began in Marseille en route to Monte Carlo and are currently in Cannes.

All welcome. Bring swimsuits, sun cream and sparking Champagne.

This is a spillover thread with a title change to describe our current course. As on the old thread, we ask that people chat about the things they plan, encounter and explore along the route rather than post links.

Ok, this evening all dinner guests must wait for the soufflé because the soufflé won't wait for you. No loud noises, no banging the table, a bit of decorum please or the soufflé will begin flopping within minutes. 19 30 prompt.
Urmstongran you're on the accompanying frizzy salad.

Formidable, Lucca!

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 27-Jun-22 18:27:26

I shall deny knowing you. But enjoy!!! Tant pis indeed! (I trust that won't be taken as unsuitable for polite company.)

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 27-Jun-22 18:28:47

Oh yes Joseanne! How do you manage these wonderful feasts?

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 27-Jun-22 19:32:48

I forgot to mention that whilst out shopping with Sven, a red blooded man if ever there was one, he persuaded me to buy a large quantity of filet de boeuf. I realise this won’t be to everyone’s taste tomorrow evening but we could have a vegetarian or pescatarian option. He called on Brünnhilde to bring us back a couple of cases of very nice vin rouge too.

Now for this fabulous soufflé … ?

ixion Mon 27-Jun-22 19:41:15

Oh Lucca - great to think you have taken inspiration from our humble thread ?
Let us know what, when and where!

Joseanne Mon 27-Jun-22 19:42:05

Is the vin rouge to make the sauce? If so, we will need double the quantity to drink it too.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 27-Jun-22 19:53:27

We can always send Brünnhilde back for more - still lots of ? left in those posh carrier bags.?

While everyone's together enjoying dinner, a quick mention that we drop anchor at Saint Jean Cap Ferrat tomorrow, the second most expensive residential location in the world after Monaco.

Wondering if anyone is up for a trip to the Casino de Beaulieu, although I'm a little dubious of what's on offer:

This casino offers up traditional Games, such as English Roulette, Black Jack, Stud Poker, Punto Banco and Poker cash game. They also have numerous clot machines, in fact 75! Which give you the chance to win regardless of your budget.

ixion Mon 27-Jun-22 20:14:24

Ooh, a clot machine!
I'm always up for a new learning experience.

MawtheMerrier Mon 27-Jun-22 20:24:35

They can mechanise anything these days it seems!

Sounds like splat the rat.

Joseanne Mon 27-Jun-22 20:26:23

Are we going to NICE?

ixion Mon 27-Jun-22 20:33:55

Joseanne

Are we going to NICE?

If we are, will someone please remind me to pick up some of those scrummy biscuits we used to have as children, with the sugar crystals on the top?

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 27-Jun-22 20:44:03

Cheaper at the Co-Op.
But not such fancy wrapping.

CaravanSerai Mon 27-Jun-22 20:58:01

Stopping Nice tomorrow not Cap Ferrat. Thanks Joseanne.

Marché aux Fleurs Cours Saleya came top of a list for good shopping. Then a wine shop. Then a cheese shop. Then a chocolate shop. Then olives. Then craft beer.

And a Carrefour for les cookies.

Doodle Mon 27-Jun-22 21:41:08

Ahem. Attention please. Sven is under contract to the Argy.
If he, or his spectacular attributes are damaged in anyway, there will be repercussions. Just keep your hands off ladies. ?

GSM oh yes please. Filet de boeuf for me tomorrow please. What’s for pudding?
Caravan reserve a seat on the bus into town tomorrow please I wish to purchase a large quantity of Olives…..if she doesn’t mind.

CaravanSerai Mon 27-Jun-22 21:44:34

Only if her surname is Kitteridge Doodle. She was bit of a grump. Good telly thought with Frances McDormand.

MawtheMerrier Mon 27-Jun-22 21:59:30

Nice is nice (as Theresa May might have said) but I am looking forward to tomorrow. Le tennis ? has left me épuisée!

Joseanne Mon 27-Jun-22 21:59:48

I feel I ought to do the Marc Chagall museum while in Nice and immerse myself into a sea of aquas and azure. Then maybe take a quick look at the wall artistry of Jean Cocteau just up the road in Chappelle Saint Pierre. Les enfants terribles sounds like my kids growing up.
Anyone fancy coffee at the Negresco?
Will these biscuits do? (Also now available in Tesco.)

MawtheMerrier Mon 27-Jun-22 22:02:12

Is the Negresco like my Nespresso? With added George Clooney ?

Joseanne Mon 27-Jun-22 22:08:47

Ha ha.

CaravanSerai Mon 27-Jun-22 22:11:30

I'm also planning to go to the Musée Marc Chagall to see the exhibition Portrait de Réfugiés Ukraniens. Can I join you Joseanne?

riete Mon 27-Jun-22 22:15:35

hi everyone, and a big thanks to joseanne for the perfect souffle. glad i thought to grab the alphabetti spaghetti remnants while i was peering at jaume plensa's nomade, to accompany the souffle and to lower the ratio of saturated fats (so much cheese around) or we'll really be needing those clot machines!

ixion Mon 27-Jun-22 22:18:06

Fancy a belated visit to a pong factory GSM?
Seeing as we were absent when the chara set off the other day.
