Good Morning Everyone,
A bright sunny start here in brackley this morning .
I have still yet to attempt trips further afield, as it was HOT yesterday .
I was having a bad day etc due to lack of breeze in the air but managed OK .
I also picked up prescriptions from local Boots , but is was queing again as one person at a time being served .
I also ordered my lateral flow kit from NHS as with the forthcoming endoscopy appointment I need to show a negative .
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Saturday 9th July 2022
(62 Posts)Good morning from yet another bright day in E Kent. I hope it won’t be too hot.
The registration went very well with a lovely, sympathetic registrar. She is as pedantic as us and regretted not being able to put the appropriate apostrophe in St. George’s. She said it would bug her all day! The other appointments went well too - funeral directors, bank, solicitor…
I’ve still to write a few letters to DH’s “girls” who he used to work with - DH refused to use email!
Quiet day otherwise today. I have persuaded DS to meet some of his friends as he has had a pretty rubbish vacation to date. He has wall to wall rugby today though.
Look after yourselves, dear friends, I hope today is kind. Carpe diem. ???❤️??
Morning Mick it is hot, best time of the day is now.
The necessary admin going smoothly is a help grandMattie I hope your DS enjoys his day.
Quiet one planned today, maybe some washing, orchestration of blinds and windows opening and closing to keep the house as cool as possible.
Wishing you all your best day ??
Good morning Mick and all who follow from the glorious Durham. I’ve been up since stupid o’clock to finish emptying out two rooms for the decorator due this morning. I still have a horrendous summer cold, despite testing negative, but it is taking me twice as long to do anything and I’m exhausted afterwards. As soon as the decorator gets here, I plan to make myself scarce. Today is Miners Gala or the big meeting in Durham. In it’s hayday, all the local Collieries would converge with their brass bands to parade their banners through the city streets having them blessed in the cathedral en route. Miners, their wives and families would follow their own banner, often dancing to the band. Banners draped in black, accompanied by a silent band would indicate an accident at the pit with fatalities. It used to be so huge an event that shops would have to board up the windows for fear of the crowds being pushed into them as people stood 10 deep to watch the banners pass by. Nowadays, it’s still a colourful spectacle and whilst some banners are still paraded, a lot of other organizations now take part.
I shall come back and read this read later but hold that gM and MD are coping.
Here’s Matt.
Hello and good morning everyone from south Manchester. I’m allowed back in from the norty step. I’ve missed you all. I wish I could share something with you but I’d best not.
No matter.
Anyhoo, it’s lovely to be back. However, grandMattie I was much saddened to learn of the death of your dear man in my absence. Please accept my sincere condolences at this very sad time.
?
??? back to all of you who posted these for my attention - how encouraging that was and a big thank you!
? a special wave to our crumpet queen this morning too. We all miss you dear lady that’s for sure.
Have an enjoyable Saturday all who can.
I intend to watch my step .... ??
An early good morning Michael and all GNs from a cloudy South Yorkshire, thank the Lord. Try and stay cool today, Mick and drink plenty of water. It was so hot yesterday. I went shopping with DD in the morning and then spent the afternoon at home pottering about doing laundry and generally trying to keep cool. I had a walk down the lane last night. There are masses of ripening hazelnuts and blackberries this year; lovely to see. No idea what I’ll be doing today - see what unfolds.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning everyone, a lovely sunny start here too.
I am thinking of you and your family grandMattie ?
Early DDog walk before it gets too warm then I’m having an Ercol sofa delivered (absolutely thrilled with getting a completely refurbished one!) and will spend the rest of the day sorting out more stuff to go to the charity shop- honestly, it’s embarrassing how much I have accumulated over the years! I guess having got rid of a big dresser and other furniture that’s inevitable ?
No more buying storage boxes, one in, one out!
It’s really invigorating cutting back on things.
I hope you all enjoy your weekend x
?? Delighted you’re back Urmstongran.
??Urms
Good Morning Mick and everyone from a sunny Hull. Another hot day promised.
So pleased your back with us Urms? Matt is very funny this morning.
Georgesgran I loved hearing about the banner marches in Durham.
This morning we are picking up GD for the day and overnight. DD and SIL are going to a wedding. Baby B is with the other grandparents. M is thoroughly looking forward to a day of being totally spoilt. We are going to the coast for the day. Tonight she’s in bed with me. Goodness knows how I’ll be in the morning. DH is relegated to the downstairs bedroom.
I meant to tell you all that the other day she ran all the way to pre school. Usually she cycles and her dad jogs alongside but she insisted she wanted to run. She ran the full one and a half miles without stopping they couldn’t believe it. Poor love was complaining her legs ached on the night though. She’s only 3. A possible marathon runner in the making perhaps.
Have a good day everyone with all your activities and thoughts to those with illness and stress. ??
Hurray! Urms is back!!! Welcome.
I thought she had been banished forever like our crumpet queen :-(
Good morning all from sunny East Yorkshire.
Welcome back Urms you were missed. ?
I spent quite a bit of time yesterday trying to sort out 2 issues by e mail. One resulted in me awaiting a call from them this morning. Very frustrating.
Yesterday the tennis semi didn’t go the right way leaving a final with 2 players I do not like. Well done to Cam Norris I am sure he has a bright future. So apart from the ladies final today that’s Wimbledon over for me this year. I am determined to get myself organised next year and see some live tennis be it Queens or Wimbledon. Could be Roland Garros it’s not to far to travel.
Nothing planned today apart from the tennis. We will go with the flow and go out somewhere as last weekend I was feeling poorly and confined to barracks. DH does like to get out at a weekend after being in an office during the week.
I’m glad things went smoothly for you yesterday GM
Take care everyone.
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s already quite warm and sticky so I’m sat in front of an open window to catch the breeze.
Welcome back Urm. I’ve thought of you everyday when I see Matt on Instagram. I did wonder about posting him for you but thought that would be muscling in on your game.
I’m glad things are going smoothly Mattie. I found everyone so kind and helpful.
I’ve got the washing machine on and have done a few other jobs in preparation for a visit from my brother who is going to do something for me.
Have the best day you can all ????
Norrie ?
Good morning all - like Urms no longer on the norty step.
I was so very sorry to hear of the passing of your dear man GrandMattie and deeply regretted not being able to send my sincere sympathies to you and your family.
Another hot day I fear - the Dyson fan is earning its keep. Having had an exhausting week with 12 year old grandson who went home yesterday, I plan to do as little as possible today.
He was lovely company but it was all “go” when he was with me - including Bletchley Park, the new Topgun Maverick film and a trip to London to see Don Quixote at Sadlers Wells on Thursday.
(Goodness, can’t 12 year old boys pack the food away! And still be as slim as reeds- do they have hollow legs? )
I can’t match the Matt cartoon, but this caught my eye - carpe diem
Wishing you all a safe and pleasant day.
Morning Mick, morning All with a smile for urms.
Off on a wander today seeking a river with boats. Good job Mr C is a patient soul.
Pleased to hear the admin is progressing relatively smoothly gm, please rest when you can. Hope today is bearable for marydoll and all dealing with life’s challenges
Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning everyone, it’s a beautiful sunny start to the day in Glasgow.
DD2 and I will be visiting, which hopefully, will be our last visit to DH’s hospital room whenever we receive word from him he is free to go home. ?
No other plans for today apart from a walk around the garden with DH who is looking forward to being outside for some fresh air.
Best wishes for a good day to all.
Kalu it’s wonderful your DH is coming home today. ?
Good morning from a cloudy Leicestershire.
Yesterday was very pleasant with a breeze and hoping for the same again.
Going up the woods with my Nordic poles this morning and hoping I stay upright!
Pleased you are getting things done Mattie and that is wonderful news - I am sure you will be happy to have your DH home.
Welcome back Urms and Maw.
How very apt. Maw ?. The years are rapidly flying by and I feel Christmas is arriving every six months !
Good to see you back.
Good morning all from a warm and sunny North Leicestershire.
A trip to find new towels today and to return stuff to M&S. Then there isa little gentle dead heading to be done.
Have the best day possible everyone!
Good morning from a bright sunny Crewe after overnight rain.
Welcome back to Urmstongran and MawtheMerrier. It seems like a long absence. I envy you seeing Don Quixote as we’d booked to see it in March in Plymouth but I went down with Covid the day before!
I share yours and the registrar's pain regarding apostrophes, grandMattie! My road is named after a saint but I’m regularly frustrated by online automated address set ups that fail to include it. Councils seem to have given up completely on road signs involving saints' names that should have them.
Our journey went well yesterday and we had a lovely family evening with DGS2, DGD and their parents. Overnight rain has freshened the atmosphere.
Enjoy your weekend plans, everyone! ?????
Oops! Good to see you back too Urms. ?
The wonderful news was meant for Kalu!
