It's already 24C!

I did an hour's walk earlier, trying to stay in the shade - forecast is for 32C later but I think it will go higher sunshine

I'll try to not slob around for the rest of the day!

It's been warm here but we haven't seen much sun. It was foggy at 5 am.
Now it's overcast with a light breeze.
I went to Boots and the bank early this afternoon, then had a cuppa with DD in her garden. Pleasantly warm there I would call it.
Northumberland is the place to be if you don't like it hot!

I absolutely love this heat. Sorry for all of those who are either uncomfortable or miserable. You can have your revenge for most of the year as I'm pretty unhappy in any degree of cold and there's certainly plenty of that.

I’m enjoying the heat too. It’s brought some reduction in constant pain and is welcome for that alone, heat also relaxes me and I tend to sleep better. We’re all different for sure. I’m fortunate enough to live close to an often windy coastline, two hours there this afternoon and the evening sitting in the garden have been wonderful. I know it’s not the same for everyone, it will cool down soon and be your turn to be comfortable.

there's a warning for sunday , very high temperatures forecast.

Another one who hates the heat.
I have just read that it is going to rain here in the west mid`s.
It may clear the air a little with luck.

karmalady Tue 12-Jul-22 09:10:48

open the loft hatch around 8pm when the ouside air is cooler than the house, open some windows too. The warm air will move upwards through the loft air vents, particularly the ones in the ridge tiles. Leave that system in place all night and then reverse at around 6am, when the sun starts to warm the roof and certain windows

It is going to be much worse from the end of the week

I’m staying on the seafront in Brighton, and it’s been quite pleasant, with a wee breeze, and air conditioning inside. I’ll have no problem with heat when I return to bonnie Scotland!

Shinamae Tue 12-Jul-22 10:20:51

Thankfully cloudy here in North Devon at the moment…

BigBertha1 Tue 12-Jul-22 10:24:08

I love the heat but don't sunbathe as much as I used to. I have Lupus anyway so not supposed to. I play golf and the ball runs beautifully in the heat but it is exhausting. I'm up in the North West so its not so hot anyway.

Cabbie21 Tue 12-Jul-22 10:28:29

Horrible heat.
I have just forced myself to wash the kitchen floor( on my hands and knees) before it gets any hotter. That is all the exercise I intend to take for today. There is no sun here at the moment but it is very hot and humid.

SillyNanny321 Tue 12-Jul-22 12:17:51

Like being warm as it does not cost money, having heating on in winter is too much cost now! Do not like extreme heat though as find it difficult to walk normally but heat makes it harder! As my Nan said ‘ Oh poor me, how sad, too bad’! ?

Mapleleaf Tue 12-Jul-22 12:24:19

I like warm, sunny weather; but when it climbs past 25/26 degrees, I find it too much, so I’m not looking forward to this coming Sunday & Monday with temps forecast to reach 33/34 degrees where I live. That’s too hot to be comfortable for me, as the house gets like an oven despite closing curtains facing the full sun & opening windows in the shady part, then swapping it around as the sun moves round. The plus side is it saves on the heating bills a bit.

I have heart failure and am being treated for cancer amongst other things. I find any sort of warm weather quite frightening as my breathing is not good. The hotter it gets the more I panic as the air quality seems really poor. It reached 30c here yesterday and the beginning of next week they are saying 35c I for one can't wait for Autumn, some frost and fresh winds would go down a treat right now

Juicylucy Tue 12-Jul-22 12:45:51

Love the sunny hot weather makes for better days.

biglouis Tue 12-Jul-22 12:54:57

The good thing about being single is that you dont have to worry about being "decent" in this really hot weather. I am typing this wearing nothing but socks and flip flops!

I dont answer the door to people without appointments. My nephew is expected later today but not til 6 pm.

However one day I brought one of the outside cameras in to re-charge and it was a very hot day. Forgot camera was facing into the room and I was walking around naked.

Wooops! Quickly deleted all pictures.

Now I automatically turn them to face the wall.

sodapop Tue 12-Jul-22 13:11:40

Hotter here today as well high 20s. I have a hairdresser's appointment later today and not looking forward to it. My hairdresser is on holiday for two weeks from Friday so can't cancel. At least they have air con in the salon.

Theoddbird Tue 12-Jul-22 13:11:59

I desperately want it to rain. I live on a narrow boat and am sitting at an angle in very shallow water. Ducks are paddling where they once could swim. Saucepans slide off of stove. Doors won't stay shut. I can't use my washing machine as it can't drain because of the angle. It is also difficult to walk along boat.... Is not just me...most boaters where I am are in same predicament. We all desperately want rain....

Mamie Tue 12-Jul-22 13:17:22

It was 32° at 11am here in Normandy. Shutters are tight shut and aircon is on upstairs. We are also watering at 7am and indoors by midday.

CountessFosco Tue 12-Jul-22 13:17:25

Really have to LOL at the term "scorcher" when it is 24!!!
When we lived in Oz, the temperature over one week in our back garden was 46 with overnight no lower than 38 for a month. Now THAT'S "scorching". Anything less is mild.....grin

Durga Tue 12-Jul-22 13:34:01

It’s often 95 degrees Fahrenheit here in North Carolina and while used to it I still hate it. I find myself counting the days until October

Rosina Tue 12-Jul-22 14:05:43

Casdon this weather induces homicidal mania in me. Anyone who says 'Isn't it lovely?' is sailing very close to an unpleasant and messy death. I detest every second. So there.

Didolizzy Tue 12-Jul-22 14:07:14

Me too. The heat makes me really ill. Roll on winter?

Mollygo Tue 12-Jul-22 14:12:05

It’s a mild 22° here and raining on and off. The rain is so welcome I didn’t even bother to go inside, just got damp.

grandtanteJE65 Tue 12-Jul-22 14:17:07

Soaking up every minute of it here.

I too am one of those whose aches and pains go away in hot weather, so I have trimmed a hedge, carted the cuttings to the pile, dug about 2 square ft of tough grass up so I can extend my vegetable patch (can't do more today, if I am to be able to move tomorrow) and the heat makes me absolutely starving!

Blossoming Tue 12-Jul-22 14:18:09

I’m loving it, we’re due some rain this afternoon and I may go stand outside smile
