It's already 24C!

I did an hour's walk earlier, trying to stay in the shade - forecast is for 32C later but I think it will go higher sunshine

I'll try to not slob around for the rest of the day!

It’s absolutely beautiful isn’t it, I love warm weather, the sun is so good for enhancing your mood. I’ve been getting up earlier and doing things before lunchtime, so I can enjoy the weather with no ‘must dos’ in the afternoon.

tanith Mon 11-Jul-22 10:10:16

I went for my walk early today at 7.30 it was already very hot. I think a quick walk to the library for more books then going to sit in the shade and read, there is no tennis to tempt me inside. ?

Blossoming Mon 11-Jul-22 10:14:57

I love the heat, it seems to wash away my aches and pains. I sympathise with anyone having to commute on crowded public transport or work in stuffy airless buildings though.

Yuk yuk yuk envy?

Smileless2012 Mon 11-Jul-22 10:19:04

I love it too especially when we're at our holiday lodge which we are ATM grin.

I have never been a true sun worshipper, and certainly not in recent years. Even so, I have been diagnosed with a serious form of skin cancer. Believe you me, I'm staying in the shade!

Having been thus diagnosed, I am continually astounded that more is not done to warn people about the dangers of too much sun. It's really not good for our health.

henetha Mon 11-Jul-22 10:27:50

Having had 3 skin cancers I tend to hide from the sun. This morning I hung out the washing and watered the garden early.
Have I got the strength for my Strength and Balance class this afternoon? I don't think so. confused

travelsafar Mon 11-Jul-22 10:30:55

I currently have all curtains at front of house closed against the sun and heat. Back of house cool and shady until later. I have no need to go anywhere this morning so will potter in house and shady part of garden then will retreat inside for rest of the day. Had a fight with changing bedding this morning as my cleaner has covid and couldnt come today. left me feeling exhausted!!! This weather is too hot for me. I feel sorry for those having to work in it. Just had a text from my son reminding me to drink plenty and stay cool...bless him. Enjoy your day what ever you do but stay out of the sun.

Shinamae Mon 11-Jul-22 10:31:14

I have never ever liked the heat, I remember working in Wales in the summer of 1976 and I’ve got a feeling this summer is gonna be the same so it’s indoors with curtains shut for me…???

Aveline Mon 11-Jul-22 10:32:24

I am absolutely miserable in this weather. Yesterday was spent in a darkened room with fan going and wearing as little as possible while remaining decent.
I was so happy to hear of a cold front moving in later in the week. Sooner the better!

Grandma70s Mon 11-Jul-22 10:41:26

I’m miserable too. The fan is going and I’m going to stay next to it as much as I can. I have a water-cooler fan somewhere, but I can’t find it.

MrsKen33 Mon 11-Jul-22 10:44:18

Up today at 7. DH watered the garden and I did the ironing.
Because we were up so early DH thinks it is lunch time now. He will have to wait for at least an hour. Then we might have a siesta.

Oh the joy of a North facing kitchen with a stone floor!
Been out got the jobs done, now for garden and a book.

eazybee Mon 11-Jul-22 12:11:35

I love this weather and I love being able to enjoy it in my own way, which can mean lying under the parasol or inside in a cool room or sitting in the garden in the early evening.
When I was teaching the summer hardly existed; days in cramped sweltering classrooms without proper ventilation, or on shade-less sports fields, all weekends and evenings were taken up with marking, assessing and report writing, to a totally unnecessary extent.
So now I have the summer back and I enjoy it, whatever the weather.

merlotgran Mon 11-Jul-22 12:19:17

I love this weather. Watered the garden early then like tanith, went to the library for some books to enjoy reading in my pergola which is cool and shady.

Long may it last.

Me too with the water cooler fan! I think it's in a box in the attic (moved recently), but it's far too hot for me to go up there to look for it! I have ordered a neck fan from Amazon instead!

I hate the heat. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a breeze. Got 2 lots of washing dry, very quickly, then went to aqua aerobics, which was wonderful in this weather.

HeavenLeigh Mon 11-Jul-22 12:43:20

Although I love the heat it certainly doesn’t love me due to my meds I take I have to stay out of it, one plus though my washing gets dry very quick so that’s a big bonus ?

sodapop Mon 11-Jul-22 12:49:07

Parts of France forecast to be 40 degrees this week. Today though there is a nice breeze and it's very pleasant.

Barmeyoldbat Mon 11-Jul-22 13:34:29

Love it, spent yesterday up the top of a mountain/hill where it was much cooler having a picnic, reading and sleeping.

karmalady Mon 11-Jul-22 13:43:42

I don`t like the heat, I am coping by not rushing, making sure to drink plenty and wearing my long roomy linen kaftan, I have two, made them last spring and they air beautifully so I alternate them. I am still getting things done but by pottering. I stay out of the sun, always have stayed out of intensive sun, as can be seen by my lack of wrinkles. My younger sisters in australia have very wrinkled skin

You can easily make a water cooler fan just by hanging a wet t towel on a clothes rack, in front of a fan

The sun is just leaving my E S/E facing windows so I have started opening up that side of my cave but the W indows are noe covered. I am glad I got insulating wooden shutters

My wind vane was absolutely still yesterday afternoon and evening, the outside air was so heavy, not a sound, not even a bird, except they come down to drink from time to time, from my solar water feature which is a life saver to them

Wheniwasyourage Mon 11-Jul-22 14:46:26

Another one here who hates the heat. Warmth, yes, but much over 23º is too much for me these days. As it was hot last night I didn't sleep much, and now can't be bothered to do anything today. sad Where the sun comes in (wherever the blinds or curtains aren't closed) it is even more obvious than usual that I haven't the maid hasn't done any dusting for some time... shock grin

Riverwalk Mon 11-Jul-22 17:30:41

I had a few errands to run this afternoon and boy was it hot.

Standing for a minute at the traffic lights I could feel my arms burning - when I got to the post office it was closed due to industrial action! Had to schlep to another PO where of course there was a queue.

All ended well at the pub with a large glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc and packet of kettle chips with a friend, sitting in the shade.

It's 31C right now sunshine

AGAA4 Mon 11-Jul-22 17:38:40

Love the sunshine but not this heat. Just makes me tired.
