It's 09.30 and my thoughts are turning to lunch.

Jazz dance class later so will have my usual smoked salmon and scrambled eggs - something light to keep me light on my toes!

No idea about tonight... maybe salad, something from the freezer, odds & sods from fridge, who knows smile

Elizabeth I do wish that I didn’t eat lunch, then I may lose some weight.
I only had a cheese sandwich today though as I was very busy.
Tonight we will have pre cooked chicken with stir fried vegetables and noodles.Fresh peaches for dessert.

My little culinary secret - I love tinned mushy peas!

Today's lunch will be mushy peas and oven battered haddock smile

Well it looks like I have diabetes now to add to my cancer …so any dietary advice is welcome. Very hard as I’m not a huge fan of vegetables…..

Sorry to hear that lucca ,look on line there are some great recipes for diabetics my friend had just been diagnosed she was told just to be careful with carbs but otherwise everything in moderation.

Lucca - I’m long overdue a blood test. I was prediabetic several years ago. Covid etc seems to have stopped the follow ups and I haven’t asked simply because I’ve enough on my plate.
There are some excellent cook books yiu could get on line - just Google cook books for diabetics - you’ll find loads. Yiu could just Google recipes, again endless on line.
The key is reducing portion size of carbs. I’m a carb lover.

That's all you need Lucca. Starchy carbs are the main enemy as it's so easy to eat too much - so be mindful of how much bread, rice, potatoes, and pasta you eat.

Early lunch today before dance classes: ham sandwich, yogurt and fresh strawberries.
Dinner at the pub after our evening health walk, probably a small carvery.

I try to forget about lunch but if I am hungry a bowl of cereal. Tonight, the same as last night- salad with a selection of bought cooked fish- yummy with 2 glasses of wine.

I’ve got 2 fridges stuffed with things for a party on Saturday, I expect MrOops will be foraging for something to eat tonight.

Then we have a houseful tomorrow so they will have to do the same, I have to cook on Saturday, until then they can search for something to fill themselves up.

TBH I’d forgotten that they would all need feeding tomorrow as well.?

A buttered crumpet for breakfast. A free lunch courtesy of Tescos. A bagel with scrambled eggs which were delivered by mistake with our order yesterday and the driver insisted we keep. Thanks Tesco. It was delicious.

Gf muesli with low fat yoghurt and blueberries for breakfast, egg mayo on a small slice of gf brown bread for lunch with a slice of melon and some grapes. Dinner will be pasta with veggies and carrot top pesto.

I’m also watching the carbs as type 2 diabetes runs in my family. ?

Lunch was leftover roasted veg?.
Supper is far more exciting!

Friends over for a BBQ.

Padron peppers with fried pitta bread pieces and a homemade dip & crudités.

Duck breasts & Cote du Boeuf with an Asian slaw, green salad and Carprese salad.

Cheese board of British cheeses and a huge bowl of fresh cherries.

Some delicious Cremant D’Alsace, Portuguese Dao and an Appissimento.

Bit nervous about the beef on the BBQ, it’s a thick piece, wish me luck?.

We have a good breakfast so never have lunch. Dinner today is a quiche and roasted peppers, etc.

Tee1 Sun 17-Jul-22 11:15:09

Gazpacho and fruit for lunch. Chicken, new pots and fresh peas for dinner.

MawtheMerrier Sun 17-Jul-22 11:18:19

and an Appissimento

Presumably Apassimento ?????
The former sounded rather rude (or the quality of wine we used to drink as students, usually referred to as Cats’ P*ss ) gringrin

Foraged lunch (ie help ourselves individually to whatever's in the fridge). In my case that will probably be half an avocado and some salad. Mr Dog will stick to his usual cheese sandwich, no doubt.

Dinner is leftover curry from last night. We are away just now, and when we are we tend to order extra on a Saturday night so that there are plenty of leftovers on the Sunday, so there is no cooking and splitting it over two evenings saves on daily calories.

Going to Daughters with DH later for Barbecue in her garden, followed by strawberries and cream, plus a glass of wine or two.
Will be too stuffed for anything later so probably just a slice of watermelon ?

yogitree Sun 17-Jul-22 11:31:51

Lunch will be 2 eggs (undecided on how to cook them). Dinner will be spag-bol. Not a fancy cook!

grandtanteJE65 Sun 17-Jul-22 11:32:54

Asparagus soup for dinner and anything we can find in the fridge for a snack earlier - lunch doesn't really exist in our house - we just grab a slice of bread and something if we get hungry in the middle of the day.
