How tidy or untidy is your dressing table

Following on from the wonderful bedroom chair thread, I wonder if you’re game to show your dressing table

Sago Fri 15-Jul-22 22:23:54

This is the one in my bedroom in our main home, quite good today as when I sorted the chair on Thursday I did the dressing table too.
Never as tidy as the above though.

Oops!

No dressing table here. No chair in the bedroom either. Sometimes I think I’d like both then realise either or more likely both would be full of all sorts of (un)important ‘stuff’ that I’d never get around to moving. grin.

I don’t have a dressing table - I had a built in one in our last house. I have a battered pine chest cluttered with photos, mostly of my son at various stages of his life, but one of GS (the yellow beads were a gift from a junior school trip to France! They are “my lucky beads”) and one of DH, various bits of useless china, and a crystal rose bowl that DH used to house his spare car keys and his season ticket! I don’t wear make up but if I did it would probably be in the bathroom with my perfume.

I don’t have one. Added to which, I never wear makeup other than occasional lipstick as I’m allergic to most products. Added to which, DH hated a lot of makeup on women…

My ‘dressing table’ is actually a desk and often contains just my laptop, but since I retired it mostly gets used when I’m drying my hair. A while ago I decluttered and moved my lotions and potions to a couple of shelves in my (tiny) walk-in wardrobe. I have several cosmetic bags, one for nails, one for lipsticks, one for creams etc. - all tucked out of the way and not gathering dust.

Dressing table very messy, and the footstool with clothes on. But it means the bedroom chair is tidy! ?

I don't have one. Keep my items in wardrobe cupboard. Bring out when needed ,use bathroom for makeup, if required.

I really want one! Always coveted one of those 'Sindy ' ones, all Louis 14th with gold trim. And the rest of the bedroom furniture to match of course - throw in a dollop of chintz and I'd never come outsmile

I don't have one, just perfumes on chest of drawers. I do my makeup in the bathroom.
I love the colour of your bedroom Pittcity. I also really like your curtains Kitty Lester. Colour really cheers me up.

I have never had one and wouldn’t know what to do with one. Never one to sit looking at myself

HomeAgain123 Mon 27-May-24 16:24:24

Mine is exactly the same but with more creams for all sorts 😂😂 on it

I do have a dressing table, but neither it nor the rest of my bedroom is fit to be on public display!

My excuse is that only the cats and I go into my bedroom, and that I am currently painting the outdoor side of the window frames in the entire house, so no time for tidying up.

Norah Mon 27-May-24 16:29:42

Our bathroom is solution to lack of dressing table, imo.

Just noted this thread is almost 2 years old.
Not that it matters …. Made me a bit sad though as a lot has changed for us since then. We were on holiday in Ibiza in June 2022.

I was complaining about resurrected threads earlier, but I am enjoying reading this thread again.

No dressing table here either. I have a long dresser in my bedroom with a mirror attached. It has my jewellery box in the centre, with a few little odds and ends on the shelfs on the mirror.

I hate to say there is usually a pile of clothes on it. It does get tidied every morning.

I have a magnifying mirror with lights on a chest of drawers, never had a dressing table, but don’t want one.

BigBertha1 Mon 27-May-24 22:27:09

My lovely dressing table had to go in recent downsize move sadly. I have recreated it on a chest of drawers, very tidy and clean all products in daily use.

Here we are

If I had a dressing table it would be just as untidy as everywhere else!
I've become such an untidy person, I'm ashamed to admit.
I never was super tidy, but I was definitely much better than I am these days.

Esmay Tue 28-May-24 10:24:52

I used to gave a dressing table - not anymore .
I keep my make up in the hall because I prefer natural light to apply it .
Too bad if visitors are shocked !
Admittedly , if I know that they are coming I have a frantic tidy up .
After years of being houseproud I've got other more important things to do !

Witzend Tue 28-May-24 10:27:12

I don’t have one either.
My bedroom chair, OTOH 😱!

Astitchintime Tue 28-May-24 10:29:37

There is so much on our chest of drawers that it is impossible to see the top surface - but at least it keeps the dust at bay grin

annsixty Tue 28-May-24 11:25:52

I would be mortified if anyone other than my GD saw mine.
It has everything but the kitchen sink on it.
It does have a kettle, two containers, one with tea, one with coffee.
My GD brings up two mugs and fresh milk before she goes to work.
A small ornamental tray with perfume, a make up bag, although I don’t put make up on there, I use a large mirror on my windowsill for the better light.
I do sit and dry my hair though which I have just done.
Also on there some jewellery boxes, a stand for hanging costume jewellery and a box with spare medication.
All in all a mess. My H who was OCD for tidying would have a fit if he could see it.
