Do you talk to inanimate objects?

Yes all the time. I also talk to the dogs at home all the time. I’ll give them a running commentary of my plans.

No I don't but DH does and it really annoys me.

I threaten to take mine to the tip.

I talk to the cats all the time, no idea what they understand. Probably the tone of voice. I sometimes use miaows to them ( I am a good mimic!) and they definitely respond to that but I am not too good at knowing the meaning of what I am saying. Hope it isn’t obscene !

I was convinced i anwswered to this post yesterday.
Anyway,in a nut shell a big fat yes,all of the time.
But i am convinced my Dh is an inaminate object at times,eg,,he will be doing something and i talk to him and he ignores me,abit like a washing machine when i ask it to hurry up with the last spin please .

When putting the car away in the garage I thank it and say it can now get some rest - the other day I apologised to it for leaving it out in the sun for a few hours!

I have a large toy cat which lives on the bed in the spare room - I say good morning to it when opening the curtains and good night when closing them. Glad there are other GNs as daft as I am!

Callistemon if it doesn’t my next retort is “Alright bl***y don’t. See if I care.” Then I spend an hour tinkering until it does?

Iv'e also realised that I talk to our robot cleaner, especially when he gets stuck somewhere, or has sucked up a wire!

I also talk to my robot vacuum cleaner, but that's because he is like a little person, moving around on his own.

There are also robot food deliveries, and they are like little children so make you feel very protective. If you are driving and a robot is waiting to cross a busy road you worry he will cross in front of you and get run over!

We have two new robotic mowers ( don’t ask!) one we have named Rowmow and the other Juliet . They mainly see to themselves - scheduled cutting etc etc but occasionally a cry will go up “Juliet's stuck. Can you sort her out please?” Or Romow has rubbish round his wheels. Don’t know why he’s been in the rough. We also compliment them on what a wonderful job they are doing. If we don’t who knows what might happen???

I talk to my mum’s gravestone but is that unusual? My sister does too.

I often talk to my computers and electronic devices. Sometimes they answer because they have Alexa or other entities built in!

Not sure I talk to inanimate objects but I do talk to the flowers in the garden and def the insects. First sign of madness????

In the past when I travelled by plane I always thanked the plane as well as the cabin crew. I got some very funny looks! But if the plane had not got us there safely then there would be no one to give each other thanks or funny looks.

I don`t know anyone TillyTrotter who doesn`t speak at the graveside/to the gravestone.
Thats the whole point in going.
I walk around graveyards and i talk to whoever catches my eye,especially if they have been there some years .

Yes, I often shout at my lap top but also frequently at the clothes prop that’s supposed to be holding up my washing line, it’s one of those telescopic ones and it has a habit of sliding to & closing itself so all my washing, particularly big things like sheets & bath towels start to drag all over the grass. I quite often dash up the garden cursing & calling it all kinds of names. The neighbours must wonder!!

Yes to the zip on my trousers or skirt when I can't get it up I tell it not to worry I'm going to lose weight.
I,m also one who shouts at the washer etc. bleeping and when our kettle was not an automatic cut off I used to shout it could whistle it's ar..off on the AGA but I was not coming.

The very least I do is to say out loud when parking the car, 'windows, wipers, handbrake, neutral'.
When I get home I add, 'thank you, little car for getting me home safely - you know you're marvellous, don't you? And you are very much appreciated.'

Every time I drop something I always say 'oh f**k off'. I talk to everything in the house. I talk to the telly. I talk to the loo when it won't flush. I think I may need help ???
