Morning all from sunny S Hants at 18.
Today we’ll be checking the chiller unit works for tomorrow. Out to lunch later with friend’s, I’ll wave NanKate we’ll be in Minstead.
MrJ enjoyed his golf yesterday and cake, he’s having a birthday week, 60 on Wednesday.
Enjoy your day all ??

kittylester Sun 17-Jul-22 08:04:55

Good morning all from an already warm North Leicestershire.

I have to nip to waitrose to pick up a JL parcel and that it all!

DD2's daughters have a whole school trip to Gulliver's Kingdom tomorrow which the head is refusing to cancel.
s
Most parents are opting out and taking their children to air conditioned cinemas instead. And Bertie is at a football camp which has not been cancelled. Baffling.

Grammaretto Sun 17-Jul-22 08:03:26

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It is quite cool here though we are promised some warmth tomorrow but nothing like the temperatures down south.
I am following my DS trip through the hot spots of Europe with growing trepidation. I hope they are sensible and careful.
Take care all of you.
Maw I hope those cyclists manage the ride. Presumably they have a backup vehicle?
grandMattie thinking of you this week.
Wishing you all a happy Sunday.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Black Country.

No real plans today, may wander down to the Bonded Warehouse by the canal as there is a food and drink festival there, there is usually live music too.

Collected Mum yesterday afternoon, so she could have a BBQ with us. She is a lot quieter lately and her memory is shocking (at 92 it's to be expected), but she doesn't seem her usual self.

Wishing you all a safe day in the heat

Chrissielou Sun 17-Jul-22 08:00:24

Sitting in the garden again after a long and very early dog walk. Temperatures set to rise today, but at the moment it's perfect.
We saw many planes go over for the RIAT, including the red arrows yesterday, glammagran you've made me determined to go next year! We don't live far from RAF Brize Norton so frequently see interesting aircraft fly over.
grandMattie as you face a difficult week, my thoughts are with you.

aggie Sun 17-Jul-22 07:52:34

Good morning, dull again , nice and cool in the house , just about to go out and water some plants
Sorry you had another bad night granMarie , so much sadness ((((hugs))))
Our Chapel is still closed for refurbishment , it needs full renovation , but no money for such fripperies these days ?
I don’t want to take a lift to the Chapel currently being used as it’s tiny , so , between being close in a car , and shoulder to shoulder in a bench I am continuing with virtual Mass . Last night it was from a place in Donegal where we used to have a mobile home , brought back memories
Wishing everyone the best day possible, keep cool xxx

Good morning all from a muggy Glasgow, nothing like the extreme temperatures, some of you are being subjected to.

I have no plans at all for today, mostly because I woke up on and off all night with stomach pains and also an insect bite on my foot in the most awkward place, (They always are!). I know nothing can be done until I get the gastroscospy, but I'm fed up with feeling so unwell and having to put my life on hold, yet again.

Yesterday, I felt reasonably well and made two jars of gooseberry jam ( very few gooseberries on the bushes) and about 6lbs of very tasty marmalade (with Triple Sec in it).
It was the first time in three weeks, I have actually felt like doing anything productive, which gave me such a boost.
Very little effort was required, because I did it all in my jam maker and I delegated all the washing up to SIL! wink

I wish you all the best of days.
Safe journey for the cyclists and all, who are travelling. My friend is cycling through Portugal and Spain, I wonder how he is getting on in the extreme heat there!
GM try and get some rest after church, you will need to be well for the difficult week ahead.
A special mention for all or those family members, who are struggling. ?

glammagran Sun 17-Jul-22 07:47:16

Good morning to you all.

Last Sunday we had a meet-up with all my AC’s and the GC’s at a pub near Newbury with lots of play equipment yesterday. 3rd time we’ve all got together this year - it makes me so happy. Downside was that one entire family all got Noravirus as did I as I was looking after the youngest GS on Tuesday.

On Friday we went to the RIAT at Fairford which was just fantastic. It was a bit touch and go after the stomach bug but we made it. The South Korean Black Eagles air display team were stunning. I hate to say so but a lot more advanced than our Red Arrows. The typhoon display was also awesome but deafening so I won’t be able to hear properly for days.

Keep safe everyone in the heat which is yet to hit us fully.

Pittcity Sun 17-Jul-22 07:46:49

Good morning from sunny Colchester where the forecast is for 27° later. I had to put on a cardigan by 5pm yesterday as a strong breeze made it feel quite cool.
The family changed their plans and are popping over today instead of yesterday.
Love to all ? x

dragonfly46 Sun 17-Jul-22 07:40:50

Good morning, the heat hasn’t built up here yet but 33 degrees is promised with 39 tomorrow and Tuesday.

Nothing planned for today.
I love all G&S Ashcombe but especially The Mikado.
For Mattie flowers
I always wanted to be a bell ringer. Apparently if you learn you can practice it in every country in the world as the technique is the same.

Wishing every one the best day possible.

Beechnut Sun 17-Jul-22 07:35:30

Good Morning all from Severnside. No surprise to find I woke to a sunny morning once again.

This hot weather is making bed making easier.I’ve folded over the covers to the bottom of bed and just sleep on my bed rather than in it.

I enjoyed the company of Beechnutella yesterday and she took away the last of her dad’s clothes that I wanted to go. There were a lot of t shirts with motifs etc and I didn’t really want to take them local to me in case I saw someone wearing one. Daft I know.

I’ll do some watering when I’ve finished my breakfast cuppas.

Have a good day if you can everyone and find shade and cool spots ??

Gingster Sun 17-Jul-22 07:26:05

Our local church bells were chiming most of yesterday afternoon. Weddings , practising ! ?.
I love hearing them ⛪️?

NanKate Sun 17-Jul-22 07:24:34

Morning Mick and All.

Warming up in the New Forest. Off to Furzey Gardens as there are plenty of places to shelter from the sun. Under milk Wood was great last night, performed in a large walled garden.

grandMattie you are in my thoughts and prayers. Please take time to rest ?

Ashcombe Sun 17-Jul-22 07:17:14

My church has a chiming clock, too, Urmstongran, which chimes the quarter hours through the day but only hourly from 11.00 p.m. - 7.00 a.m. Yes, it’s comforting. ⛪️

Urmstongran Sun 17-Jul-22 07:07:51

Here’s Matt. So funny!

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s a pleasant start to the day here and apparently we will have highs today of 31°C. We are indeed enjoying a heatwave Maw! I sang that song in my head just now.
?

We will be seeing my stepfather later - we can borrow son-in-law’s car to pick him up.

It’s so quiet here on Sunday mornings. I’ve just listened to the church bell chiming seven times. It goes on through the night too and if I wake in the still of the night I can hear the chimes announcing three or four o’clock. I find it soothing.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 17-Jul-22 07:00:46

??? for GM,
I will go to church this morning - last Sunday daughter and I went to a free organ recital in a beautiful church in Vienna. OH and I may go and look at a local history exhibition in the village hall. I shall endeavour to drink plenty of water today - I had a migraine last night, the first in a month. OH wants to watch the Tory leadership debate today, I don’t really see any point as we don’t get to vote for them.

Gingster Sun 17-Jul-22 06:56:04

Good morning and preparing for another hot day.

GM try to have a nap later on. With so much on your mind , no wonder you had a bad night. ?.

Maw try not to worry too much about the cyclists ?‍♀️?. I’m sure they’ll have a great time.

Nothing on for us today so will enjoy the peace and quiet ?

Take care and keep cool ?

ShazzaKanazza Sun 17-Jul-22 06:39:45

Good morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It’s cloudy with a refreshing chill this early but of course that’s going to change soon.

Hoping the bike ride goes well MawtheMerrier and ? the heat doesn’t affect them too much.

grandMattie I’m sorry to hear you had a bad night ? you have such a lot going on so hope later you can put your feet up.

We are going on the early train to London so ? there are no problems.
My son messaged from China last night to say his dog had had a seizure and had to be rushed to the vets. They think heatstroke. They are experiencing very hot temps in their province and just took the dog on his usual early walk. He’s a golden Labrador. He’s ok thank goodness he’s like their baby. They were so scared.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday. Hugs to those suffering illness and stress. ??

cornergran Sun 17-Jul-22 06:37:47

Morning Mick, morning All. A clear, blue sky over our corner of Somerset.

Yesterday went to plan, traffic avoidance worked well as did two hours in an air conditioned shopping centre. It felt so much hotter 40 miles inland, worth it to see the family. Quiet day at home ahead.

Take care everyone. Hope Sunday is gentle with us all.

Ashcombe Sun 17-Jul-22 06:30:05

Good morning from a more temperate Torbay, compared with most of UK with a high of 22 expected.

The final performance of The Mikado was well presented and appreciated. Their clever director always adds something to make it topical. Last night he included amusing references to the political mess that is Westminster currently, much to the delight of the audience, not least because our Tory MP was in the attendance!

Church this morning then a day to potter indoors and catch up on jobs I’ve avoided all week. I’ll be holding you in my prayers, dear grandMattie, as you face this week. Please take thinks steadily and try to rest at some point today.

Every blessing. ??✝️??

grandMattie Sun 17-Jul-22 06:24:19

Good morning from a bright E Kent l
I had a very bad night and am feeling rubbish this morning. Church first thing, then getting the house ready for the family. DH’s funeral is on Tuesday,
Carpe horam. ????

MawtheMerrier Sun 17-Jul-22 06:23:01

Good morning Mick and all to come.
Yes,
?the temperatures rising,
it isn’t surprising
we’re having a heatwave” ! ?
Yesterday turned out busier than expected with a surprise invitation (well, SOS actually ) from D1 to lunch with her and the two younger GC in Birmingham as SIL and GS1 had set off on their week-long “big bike ride” with a group of nearly 100 (!) boys, dads and teachers from GS’s school. They’re cycling from Hull to Felixstowe , so the less I think about the TdF and cycling in the heat, the better. ??? I was sure the school would cancel, but they haven’t so I can just hope and ?all goes well and look forward to the temperatures dropping again from Wednesday.
My plans for today range from very little to nothing at all and I wish you all a gentle and pleasant day ?

Michael12 Sun 17-Jul-22 05:55:06

Good Morning Everyone,
Looking like the start of another hot day here in brackley this morning.
Today , I will try and stay in as much as possible due to the heat, its bad enough watching the cyclists in Tour De France on TV suffering due to the extreme temperatures .
Take Care,
Mick
