Afternoon kitcheners, brook did you say you were calling into Lyme Regis? We’re off to Bridport in November, then Poole, we’ll celebrate our wedding anniversary there, beautiful part of the world.
We’ve had more drizzle this morning Charleygirl just discovered a giant courgette hiding in the veg patch, I’ve taken it off the plant and will make courgette fritters at the weekend.
I know how scary that is Blossoming my hernia, ?, is under control with drugs.
Smacked bottom syndrome neine a relatively rare affliction!
Curry to attend to, it’s turned very humid outside. TTFN.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts your the best.
We watched a recording of the funeral. The family did him proud.DH was very emotional yesterday, so very difficult for him not to able to say goodbye but he feels at last his brother is at peace and no more suffering.

Still taking it easy, feeling every ache at the moment.I should know by now not to over do things but it will pass.

Have a lovely time in Dorset Brook, we love Lyme Regis and West Bay.
Very best wishes in your new home Sue hope all is going well.
Beautiful Granddaughter Soop.
Hope your pain soon goes Grandmabatty and Neine.

Have a pleasant afternoon everyone.

Blossoming Tue 23-Aug-22 16:35:31

I’ve done 45 minutes pedalling today Soop, the weather is a bit cooler so it’s more comfortable.

Thanks JaxJacky, I haven’t had an attack like that for a long time. Horrid experience!

YiaYia flowers for you and yours.

Grandmabatty Tue 23-Aug-22 16:39:22

The family are just away so I can relax, after tidying up. Phew. Yiayia hard for your husband not to be able to say goodbye to his brother. Blossoming I hope you are feeling better now. This sciatica comes and goes. It's ok at the moment. Dd made a chocolate and hazelnut cake so I'll leave some. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! Just popping in to catch up on all your news, loving the family photos and LLFL's decor and soft furnishings, very distinctive!

Sending love and prayers for YiaYia's DBiL and all who love and mourn him, also for Neine's D cousin, thinking of all those with sorrow, illness or suffering.??

Hoping that Grandmabatty and Blossoming are feeling much better soon, what painful conditions you are both enduring with such positive spirits! Kind thoughts to anyone else ' under the weather.'

Happy New Home, SueD, I hope you and yours have many, many happy years there.
Thinking of those with domestic difficulties, hope things are resolved soon and utilities are restored.

Happy holidays Brook, enjoy your wonderful coastal walks !?‍♀️?‍♂️Safe travels and happy days to all on holidays or visiting family.

DH and I are off for a wee break in an accessible cottage in Ayrshire, not too far to drive, we'll be taking his mobility scooter so hopefully the weather will improve so we can get out and about, we had many happy times on that coast when our boys were wee. This is our first wee break since DH'S collapse with sepsis in June. He now has a diagnosis of COPD and asthma, and has daily inhalers for the first time, they make such a difference! He has started physio for his poor mobility, so we are busy busy with various appointments, but it took his collapse and hospitalisation to set all these things in motion so we have much to be thankful for.?

We had a busy weekend, lovely to have all the families and grandchildren and granddog. Great to see wee DGS2 with his big cousins, DGS1 and DGD. He was absolutely delighted to see Granddog, we took them a very gentle wee walk round the block with Papa, baby steps but progress indeed.???

I'm now making lentil soup to take through to DS2's for our childcare day tomorrow with DGS2. I'll leave some in the slow cooker with crusty bread on the side for any hungry kitchen folk!

Apologies for my lack of posts, I do try to keep up with the news. I really enjoy and appreciate this lovely, gentle thread.TOYA

Just popping in to wish you all the best in your new home SueD. The last time we moved I said never again, not unless we could afford to leave everything behind and start with all new. That`s never going to happen, and it`s 37 years since we moved here, don`t see me going anywhere else now.

Blossoming Tue 23-Aug-22 17:36:54

Ooh GrandmaBatty that cake sounds lovely and I love lentil soup at any time Grannmarie. I’m glad your DH is getting the necessary treatment and therapy Grannmarie, have a lovely Ayrshire holiday. Mr. B and I are having a long weekend in Galloway next month, we’ll wave across the county line!

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 23-Aug-22 18:02:25

Six of us Gransnet-ers met for lunch in Oxford! We had a lovely time. It was good to put faces to names.

Grannmarie Tue 23-Aug-22 19:21:00

Thank you, Blossoming!?

Blossoming Tue 23-Aug-22 20:06:43

Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad day blossoming hope tomorrow is much better
Have a lovely very well deserved holiday grannmarie and hope your DH continues to do well
I think we’ll be near Lyme Regis at the weekend Jax and Yia I’ve not been before so looking forward to it
Thanks for the cake grandmabatty it’s yummy
We’re just near Totnes now and got an early start in the morning with a bus and a ferry to catch and then walking from Salcombe to Beesands so it’s going to be an early night tonight after a long days travelling, take care everyone and sleep well

Dogsmakemesmile Tue 23-Aug-22 20:32:32

Yia I am glad your DH gained some small solace in the belief his brother is at peace. Look after yourselves.
Quiet day with DGD. Lots of indoor fun. Just had walk with DH and Ddog. Much warmer than I realised. A lovely evening.
TOYA

Grannmarie Tue 23-Aug-22 21:13:58

Thank you, Brook, enjoy your walk tomorrow.

NNGB ??

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Aug-22 21:48:43

I’m pleased your DH is getting medical help with his current conditions Grannmarie it’s been a long haul and a break is certainly deserved.
Have a really great time.

Blossoming Tue 23-Aug-22 22:21:49

All tucked up in my pillow nest, tablets taken, water drunk, audiobook at the ready to read me to sleep. Goodnight all, sleep tight. X

Grannmarie Tue 23-Aug-22 23:09:45

Thank you, Jaxjacky. ? It is such a relief. I feel that DH has turned a corner and I'm ready to collapse in a heap!

Nannytopsy Wed 24-Aug-22 08:33:33

I hope everyone slept well. You sounded cosy Blossoming! It’s still warm and humid here in Suffolk but we may get rain tomorrow with thunderstorms.
I had steroid injections in both hips yesterday and I think there is some improvement although it will only be the anaesthetic at this point. It means the injections were in the right place! It does mean I have to rest for a few days - shame! DH will be whim caterer ?
I hope everyone on their travels has a good time.

soop Wed 24-Aug-22 14:45:34

Every message that I have read is one of mutual support and caring. Every word comes from the heart. You lot are super special. smile flowers

I intended returning to our kitchen yesterday. But, instead, I started to read a book that one of my sons had given me for my birthday. 'The Book of Joy' - Conversations between the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. I couldn't put it to one side, until that is, Mr Soop told me that our meal was close to being served.

Now, as per, thanks to Blossoming, I shall mount the bike to no place in particular. I keep reminding myself that it is for my own good. wink

soop Wed 24-Aug-22 16:00:37

45 mins of constant pedal-power. I am now bushed, for want of a better word. Thank you, Bossoming wink

Nannytopsy Thank goodness that you now have the benefit of proper pain relief.

Yia I, too, was thinking that those who loved your brother-in-law will be consoled by the thought that his pain has ceased. That thought helped me when my mother died after a very long and painful illness. flowers

Llfl I have also been fortunate to meet with Gransnetters in Edinburgh and Glasgow. It was some time ago, but the memories remain ever-green.

Grannmarie Lovely news. You have both been through a distressing time. Now that your husband is beginning to improve, the wee break will do you a world of good.

Yet another warm and sunny day. Mr Soop and I will enjoy an afternoon brew on our wee terrace.

It's good to catch up with you all. Until tomorrow, stay safe. smile moon

Blossoming Wed 24-Aug-22 16:18:14

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Thank you for your kindness and good wishes as per usual in this lovely kitchen. I had a much better night and didn’t wake until Mr. B got up and went shopping. I put a load of laundry in the washing machine, made a cup of tea and left enough for Mr. B, than toddled upstairs to enjoy my tea and check messages, etc. Then I helped to put shopping away, had lunch, more cycling, Gaelic practice and now relaxing with a ginger biscuit and a cup of coffee. Well done on the 45 minutes soop, I think that’s my optimum time. I tried pushing it up to 1 hour but it wasn’t good!

brook2704 Wed 24-Aug-22 20:16:47

Well here we are in Beesands now after a lovely walk from Salcombe today, about 11 miles but they were definitely country miles which as we all know are a lot longer and steeper than any others … we’re staying at a lovely little hotel with a view over the sea It’s been very warm and sunny today, a bit of a struggle walking in the heat tbh and we had to top our water bottles up frequently
All worth it though when we got our fish supper
Well done to blossoming and soop on the cycle rides today ?
It’s another early night for me tonight as I’m well and truly done in ..

Grannmarie Wed 24-Aug-22 21:42:57

Thank you, Soop. The kind comments on here are very much appreciated.

Not long home from childcare with DGS2, 2 and a half, he's a happy wee live wire, talking like a budgie, singing ? like a linty and insisting that Papa joins in all sorts of games! He is exhausting but he does us both a power of good.

We were playing in the garden when I heard loud honking and a flock of geese flew overhead in v formation, I've never seen that up close before!

TOYA, NNGB.

dustyangel Wed 24-Aug-22 22:49:15

Blossoming, you sounded so cosy in your pillow nest the other night. I hope you have / are having, as good a night tonight.

Sleep tight everyone x

Nannytopsy Wed 24-Aug-22 22:57:07

A good day Grannmarie. Making memories for when he’s a big lad!
My word it’s been sticky today but by 5am we are promised torrential rain and thunderstorms. We have been promised before this summer …
Sleep well everyone ?

soop Thu 25-Aug-22 15:14:58

Good sunny afternoon greetings to you lovely lot. There is more dead-heading to do in our garden. I also plan to clean the kitchen cupboards. hmm After which, on the bike I shall sit. I've a few different CD's to listen to. 'Simply Red', 'Elton John', 'Chris De Burgh' and 'Randy Crawford'. Not all at once. That would be barmy. wink
