A fairly useful day of laundry and admin and delivery of the chair I ordered to replace DH’s expensive rise and recline chair which didn’t fit me and was donated to the nursing home who looked after him so well for the last weeks of his life. Very pleased with the sitting room now and enjoying it as a relaxing space. Just need to do a bit of brass and silver polishing now - well, tomorrow!

Grannmarie Fri 26-Aug-22 22:00:55

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! ? Congratulations to your grandson, well done that young man! I love history, I studied Scottish history at Strathclyde University in the 70s, Professor ( now Sir) Tom Devine was my tutor. His lectures were brilliant.

Cornergran, I think that if you start using the pedal mijig, Mr C. will soon reclaim it!

Blossoming, I hope you and your DH enjoy the wedding! ?

Congratulations to your step GS, Nannytopsy. I'm glad the steroids are helping your hip pain.

Many happy returns, Mr YiaYia!

Llfl, I hope you have recovered from your migraine. I'm still trying to figure out what has triggered my recent ' visual migraines', I'm having about one a week, no headache or nausea thankfully.

Jaxjacky, your menu sounds so appetising well done on all your home cooking, enjoy your wine, you've earned it!

Thanks for all the good wishes for our wee holiday, I'm hoping for decent WiFi so I can keep up with all the kitchen news.

I had my hair cut and coloured today, long overdue, I was like the wild woman of the woods!? I'm going to have my glass of SB in the bath tonight ? ?
TOYA, NNGB

GrannySomerset, enjoy relaxing in your new chair!

Hi everyone. I hope you’re all ok. Ive got a bit of catching up to do.
I’ve been having a bit of trouble reading gransnet on my ipad so I’ve swapped to using the iphone which is much less jumpy ?
I found Soops lovely page via forums-chat etc but it would be easier to mark it as watching. Has anyone done this on the iphone? It’s a but different to the ipad and I can’t fathom it out ?

Now that you've posted on this lovely thread Ali23 it'll come up when you click on "I'm On".

Good afternoon kitcheners. I'm puggled (exhausted). I have entertained dgs1 and dgs2 for three hours this morning. Fortunately dgs2 had a long nap so it was mainly dgs1. We pulled the remaining tomatoes, played in the sandpit, filled his water table, blethered to neighbours. Then played with animals, bricks and trains inside. He was very good with his brother and shared his toys nicely.
It is a lovely day here. I have a washing out and I've tidied up the living room of toys. It'll need a wee hoover shortly but I am conserving my energy and watching Cary Grant in North by Northwest for a rest. I have a pot of lentil soup for you all. I made it yesterday but I prefer second day soup. A small ironing later. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

Grandmabatty Sat 27-Aug-22 14:25:37

Hiya Ali

soop Sat 27-Aug-22 15:04:34

I have every intention of returning to catch up with all your latest news. Just wanted to share the most amazing Kintyre sunset with you. Taken last night. The sky appeared to be on fire.

Grandmabatty Sat 27-Aug-22 16:01:31

That's gorgeous Soop

Pittcity

Now that you've posted on this lovely thread Ali23 it'll come up when you click on "I'm On".

Thank you. Yes, that’s true but i have been on before and it wasn’t there so i think that facility’s short lived. Also, thinking if I want to just watch a thread that I’m not contributing to.

Pittcity Sat 27-Aug-22 16:44:25

It's not the "I'm On" that's short lived it's the fact that once Soops Kitchen gets to 40 pages there has to be a new one started. It's such a popular thread that it's easy to lose if you don't check regularly. The same will apply to "watching"

Oh No! The week has whizzed by. Hello all kitcheners. My week has been preoccupied with my DS's evening calls. He is so troubled by his DD anxiety, sudden move from his rental flat and an irrational girlfriend. (His adjective for the girlfriend)! I'm thankful he is ringing every night. It's so much better than the long monthly absences when he hasn't rung.

Well done SueD with grabbing that Openreach man. Quick thinking ?.
I'd love the courgette fritter recipe please Jax. I need to build up my bank of veggie delights for my DD. Quorn mince has been taken off the list. My spag bol got the thumbs down the other day.
More food - Is Barmbrack anything like the fruity Bara brith Llfl? An ample spread of butter goes well with that.

Imagine that photo as a wall mural soop. Gorgeous.

I know we forgive each other if we don't mention every kitchener. Forgive me today. Missed MrYia's birthday too.
Dashing off now to finish the day with more grass cutting. Want to get it done by G+T time.

gillgran Sat 27-Aug-22 17:15:41

That's a beautiful sunset photo, soop, I never tire at nature's wonders.
We have just seen our DD & DGD's off after their 6 day stay with us, here in Cambs., Now getting ready to set off to our little home-from-home on the Norfolk coast, traffic should be OK at this time of day.
Hopefully we will get to see good sunsets over the "Wash".!

Take Care all, "see" you in a few days.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 27-Aug-22 17:18:27

Hello all. I’ve just made a Pavlova - I had rather a lot of egg whites in the freezer. It will be topped with raspberries and strawberries and cream. Liverpool won 9-0 so I’m feeling pleased about that. Muse - Barmbrack is quite fruity. The fruit is soaked overnight in whiskey and strong tea.

soop Sat 27-Aug-22 17:24:50

Welcome back, Ali and Pittcity*.

muse The contact between you and your son is absolutely the best thing during times of family stress and upheaval. There are times when we all need a friendly ear in which to voice our concerns. flowers

GrannieSomerset Enjoy your well-deserved new chair. Reeeeeelax.

Grandmabatty Your energy is simply amazing.

We took a long stroll around Tarbert harbour this morning. It was lovely in the warm sunshine.
I have done 45 mins on the exercise bike and am "glowing".

Like some of you lovely lot I should be doing other stuff aboot the hoos. Only, I am not. wink

I trust that your weekend will be pleasant. We will remain here at home and, as it's Saturday, I am looking forward to a Sapphire G&T at 8:30. Simple pleasures. smile moon

Grannmarie Sat 27-Aug-22 22:09:21

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people, from our holiday bungalow in the Ayrshire countryside!
We've had a lovely sunny day, a good drive down then we sat at the seafront enjoying views of the Ailsa Craig and chatting to passers by. The bungalow is perfect, we sat out on the verandah for a while this afternoon. I would like to downsize to something similar, no more stairs????
Drove to the nearby town for evening Mass then super Indian meal, now relaxing with mojitos, our holiday cocktail this year, and Bohemian Rhapsody in the background, wonderful!
Hoping everyone is having the best possible weekend, TOYA, NNGB ??

Blossoming Sat 27-Aug-22 23:30:09

Just dropping in to say hello and good night! We had a wonderful day at the wedding celebration, worn out now but so lovely to see most of our extended family in one place. I will play catch up tomorrow.

Fabulous view Grannmarie

soop Sun 28-Aug-22 15:23:59

Grannmarie Your happy message is heart-warming. Just the break that you and your husband deserve. Enjoy every moment. sunshine

Blossoming You also sound elated. Such family gatherings are a very special treat.

brook Your walks are something special. Well done!

Jax Yum! Go on, then. Just a wee helping. It would be rude of me to refuse. wink

Yia Two very proud fisher-folk. The photograph is proof positive that it was indeed a mighty big catch.

This morning's rainbow. Sadly, none too vibrant as it was fading fast.

mrshat Sun 28-Aug-22 15:39:40
