What do you wear at home in this hot weather?

I’m asking what you put on when you know that you’re not going out and no one is coming round! I have four loose midi cotton dresses with thin straps, and that’s it. No underwear, just one garment. A clean one every day, but it’s certainly cut down on the washing. It’s not a pretty sight but I’m as cool as is possible. I also keep a spray bottle in the fridge full of water and some 4711 cologne, remember that? Spray face and arms. Cold shower before bed and no nightie.

There is no way this 36GG person could go braless whatever the weather! Today wearing a white cotton sundress with underwear and sandals but I did go for my usual before breakfast walk.

Always underwear, although I find a bralette much more comfortable than a bra. I find l keep much cooler in a cotton skirt and t shirt or dress. I have the world's worst legs as I have lipoedema so have not possessed a pair of shorts for years. However, the other day I had been wearing leggings under a shorter dress and when I got home l told my husband that it was too hot for the leggings and he would have to put up with my legs

loose, thin, strappy dress, barefoot, no underwear... bliss

JaneJudge Fri 12-Aug-22 11:31:44

I usually wear a vest and shorts or a lightweight dress and always wear underwear otherwise I'd scare the ponies

i wear thin pj bottoms and a stretch top, i need the bra as i am big up top, i have face cleansing wipes and baby wipes in the fridge, i also fill small bottles with tap water, some are half full and in the freezer and then just top up and drink when needed. curtains are closed because the sun is at the front of the building from mid day till sunset and i use the fan when needed.

Thin tee shirt and shorts today but yesterday was a long tee shirt dress and tomorrow I will probably wear a linen shift dress because I have to pop to the village.
So long as it’s clean and tidy I honestly don’t care what I wear to be comfortable.
I do wear bra and pants, it wouldn’t occur to me not to!

Grantanow Fri 12-Aug-22 11:35:27

As little as possible and no socks or slippers - just bare feet.

Loose strappy dress and knickers. Occasionally denim shorts with an elasticated waist and a loose vest top, I have one top in particular that is flared and has an abstract floral pattern that hides the absence of a bra. Very occasionally in the garden I wear a strapless tube top with shorts, but best to avoid a sweaty waistband as going to the loo is such a struggle!

I don't tend to wear anything for the first hour or so of the day as I potter about feeding the cats & getting the day sorted. We live down a very long farm drive & have no neighbours! Then it's a sleeveless linen dress, nothing else when I'm at home but I add a pair of knickers if I'm going out. I rarely wear a bra anyway as I have costochondritis which feels like I'm wearing a tight fitting bra all the day, it's not nice. I don't wear shoes at home but pop a pair of Fitflops on if I'm off out. I wear a sunhat in the garden but not if I'm going somewhere as it's a bit battered, like me. I suppose I should buy another.
Like the sound of the kaftans- where can I get one please?

Sherry1 Fri 12-Aug-22 11:37:44

I bought a couple of djellabas while in Morocco and they have saved me... long flowing cotton tents that keep me super cool. I can wash them in the sink at night and they are dry by the morning! I urge everyone to get a cheap cotton djellaba, it may hang around doing 'not a lot' but suddenly they are heros

Lolee Fri 12-Aug-22 11:37:52

As little as is decently possible.

Can anyone shed light on where they bought cotton kaftans?

Does anyone else find swimming costumes hot? I hate sitting in mine in hot weather.

Yes, swimsuits are hot.

Northern Ireland actually hot today. Wearing shorts, bikini top, bare feet. Will not do any unnecessary tasks until cool evening.

I have loads of cheap cotton pyjamas - no need to iron. Nothing on my feet.

Today though I have the pots to water in the front, so cotton shorts and silk sleeveless top with underwear. Just for common decency you understand?

4711 cologne is an essential part of hot weather aids. I recently went into Boots and Superdrug where they no longer sell it. I could always get it in Boots before. Superdrug had never ever heard of it, was amazed, I thought it was the No 1 go to cologne. We used to get it sent out to Singapore in the 1960’s when we were living there. Thank fully still available online.
I wear as little as possible in the clothing department, and only cotton or linen. In the house, usually shorts and bikini top only. Or a sarong which is wafty and cool.

TillyWhiz Fri 12-Aug-22 11:44:58

Sleeveless top, loose skirt and def no underwear, bra and pants to hand in case of fire or emergency! grin Bare feet too.

Hazeld Fri 12-Aug-22 11:45:18

Is that all Esspee?

Bazza Fri 12-Aug-22 11:46:47

Great selection of 4711 on Amazon for those not averse to using them.

sandelf Fri 12-Aug-22 11:47:38

Bra and pants - over the head dress hanging in the hall in case of door bell being rung. Outside - baggy printed trousers and light t shirt. Reading group coming round this afternoon - sitting in breezy shade - neat armhole sleeveless (remember Biba) jersey flare dress.

ginny Fri 12-Aug-22 11:50:28

At the moment I am at home wearing knickers and a long sleeveless cotton T Shirt.
As long as I am in the shade I seem to be fine even if the temperature is high.
It’s cold I can’t cope with.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 12-Aug-22 11:51:55

Knickers, shorts, strappy top with built in bra.

Pair of canvas slip on shoes

Hair up, no make up.

Let’s hope the doorbell doesn’t ring.

I also have lipoedema and have to wear full length compression stockings every day. Not good in hot weather! I wear trousers all tge time or occasionally a maxi dress.

All week I've been wearing a blue dress from Tesco which I picked up last summer. It's cotton with patch pockets at the front, long sleeved with elasticated cuffs. Slightly too short as just above the knee, but it's the coolest thing I have at the mo. Other days it's usually a cotton skirt and t shirt.

Nanna58 Fri 12-Aug-22 11:58:15

I wear a pair of cropped legged linen dungarees, no underwear and no make up, put conditioner on my hair for the day as it’s quite dry - I look like an aged disreputable Huckleberry Finn !! ?

Alioop Fri 12-Aug-22 12:05:14

A loose dresses in varying lengths and flip-flops. Some of the badly wrinkled ones are in the ironing basket, but they can sit there til it cools down cos I'm not standing with an iron in that heat.
